Had a very strange visit to this place culminating with verbal and physical abuse from the owner's rather drunk wife!! I wouldn't ordinarily write such a long review but I am still reeling from our (v v v expensive) experience. To be clear, Waiting and Reception staff were wonderful and the food was very nice although not "fine dining" in...

This is a long overdue review. My boyfriend and I stayed at Monachyle Mhor in May 2013 (not an option on the drop down menu when writing this review), but since we keep remembering our time there, I thought it was about time to write a review. The hotel is completely unfussy and everything feels incredibly warm and generous -...

PROS: The food -this is really what you should be coming for - it's incredible The service is excellent The young and personable staff are really well trained and highly competent The byre where we stayed was the perfect size for one night and very well appointed CONS: Although the byre was comfortable - it was definitely leaning towards the...

We spent two-nights at the Monachyle Mhor Hotel, having received reports of excellence from some of our friends. Located along a 6-mile single-track road, the hotel feels remote. The glen (and the drive through it) is beautiful, and although single-track is not a through road therefore very little traffic. Our room, overlooking the lochs, was a convenient size, clean and...

The rooms were excellent comfy and clean. A little bit quirky shabby chic. The real winner is the bar and restaurant downstairs and if you are staying here look no further! Brekkie is not included in the reasonable room rate but is worth the extra cost. Go here at least once.

The food and staff were very good.. The room was fine if not luxurious but small touches like no DVDs available and iffy wifi make a difference at this level. Liked the place and experience but my conclusion has to be that it's overpriced as it fails to hit the luxury rating I think it aspires to.

A wet dreich Scottish night was lit up by a stunning meal, beautifully presented in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Monachyle Mor, where quality and service are much in evidence. Highly recommended for that special occasion!

This fantastic place has everything. In no particular order - style, remoteness, his and hers slipper baths, piglets in the yard, beautiful food, seriously attentive & friendly service, breathtaking scenery, a kitchen garden, dogs to befriend. Incomparable. They deserve the 5 star review but I fear if the secret gets out rooms may become difficult to come by. Oh and in...

This is a hotel that is totally unique in our experience . It is miles from the nearest tiny village, totally away from any kind of crowd. Even though the weather was harsh we still had some great walks, went clay pigeon shooting, and joined in a ceilidh all in one weekend. The food was good , some of it...
