Travellers' Choice
In a quiet place of undisturbed tranquility and almost surreal natural beauty, where the slopes of Ben Cruachan fall into the clear waters of loch Awe, lies a deeply romantic and luxurious old country house called Ardanaiseig. In a 19th-century manor house on 120 acres beside Loch Awe, this luxury hotel is 21 miles from the ruined Kilchurn Castle and 22 miles from Ben Cruachan. Elegant rooms offer loch or garden views and feature antique furnishings. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, tea and coffee making facilities, and designer Scottish toiletries. There is also a separate glass-fronted loch side Boatshed suite and a 2-bedroom cottage. An acclaimed restaurant serves upmarket, seasonal dishes. Full Scottish breakfast and afternoon tea are available, and other amenities include boat rentals, croquet and bikes.

We stayed at Ardanaseig for 4 days, did lots of walking and it was an absolute delight. The food was amazing, the atmosphere gentle and refined and hugely relaxing. The walks were lovely, even in the rain and they were able to dry off our clothes and boots in the boiler room. Despite COVID restrictions everyone made a huge effort to make it a special place to stay

My partner spent a night at the Ardanaiseig Hotel during the October Week. The hotel is situated in a beautiful secluded position on Loch Awe - about 9 miles from Taynuilt. The hotel is both classy and quirky in equal measures (have a closer look at some of the portrait paintings when you visit - all is not what it seems...) Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by Gary, who explained current Covid-related procedures/ constraints, and showed us to our room, via the dining room. Shortly after a glass of warming cider was brought to our room. The room itself (Ben Neagh) was very clean and spacious, and contained an eclectic mix of furniture and ornaments. We had a lovely view over the garden down to the loch itself. Dinner service was first class (thanks to Gary and Yanis

Whilst I would not give a negative review during Covid, everything that didn’t work about this hotel has *no* bearing on staff or service. Both staff and service were excellent, all safety precautions taken. The grounds are stunning, and the location is magic. However... We needed to change rooms as ours didn’t have a stand-up shower and my very tall fella wouldn’t be able to bath. They generously changed our room however the room we got changed into had seen very very many better days. It was not clean, it smelled of mould and in fact, the sink was cracked, tap broken and there was no cover on the bottom mattress. A coffee stain on the side table. The room had simply not been cleaned. The restaurant was well set, very pretty, but the food was unnecessarily fussy. The dinner

First impressions of the hotel, this has been a stunning property but now looks like it needs external maintenance work starting with clearing the gutters. An easy task would be clearing cigarette ends from the garden pot at the front door. . Our room was small /comfortable but water ingress marks on the ceiling were off-putting, clearly, the roof slates need attention. The bathroom was small but adequate with a handheld shower only over bath and no shower screen. The skylight was partially covered in moss so light blocked. Half used coffee sachet found in the coffee box so clearly had not been checked. I asked for the room we had requested on the booking but was told not available as fully booked, so we accepted that.. The dining room nicely decorated however blue walls

Lovely old worldly hotel, my daughter and son in law treated my grandson and I to a early birthday tea. The hotel itself is in a great location, very old fashioned which we loved ..Very comfortable furniture and indeed nodded off after tea as was very full up Loads of sandwiches which were delicious 😋 and an arrangement of cakes ,scones and shortbread ,all absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend anyone wanting to have a special day here . Will definitely return and take a walk round the grounds ..It was pouring with rain when we visited ..I expect the place would be stunning in the sunshine 🌞 It was lovely and cosy in the rain
