My wife and I and another couple (friends) stayed at the Grey Gull for 2 nights. Before I mention the actual hotel I want to say all the staff were friendly and very helpful and also the food was good. The exterior and interior was utterly disappointing. Every surface was sticky and unclean, basic cleanliness lacking hugely. Met at reception by a dead plant. On going to the toilet, one toilet was working but the other one with no door or toilet seat. The bedrooms hadn't been hoovered and the towels had stains on them. We had to keep bedroom window open due to the heat but room was full of flies due to multiple plastic bin bags dumped below the windows. We got very little sleep due what we think was staff quarters on our corridor making excessive noise until the small hours. Surely Scotland can do better than this to welcome visitors from other parts of the Uk/abroad.

Terrible arrogant manager David. DO NOT STAY HERE. Awful food, cheap and processed, bad service and cold room, not enough towels for two people even though we were in a family room. wrote to owner who couldn't even be bothered to reply.

My husband and I recently had an overnight at The Grey Gull hotel. We were greeted by manager Elaine when we arrived. She upgraded his to the best room in the hotel and was very friendly. We ate dinner in the hotel which was beautiful. We were served by Elaine who was very professional and friendly. Overall the hotel staff made sure we have a great stay! Will be back.

We stayed here one night before making the big trip home after a wonderful holiday with our family. We booked a table to enjoy our last dinner in the restaurant and it was one of the highlights of our holiday. The staff were so accommodating by allowing us to sit across two tables. The variety and portion sizes of the food were incredible and very delicious. We had arranged a cake to be delivered to celebrate 3 of the family members birthday and the staff made it happen seamlessly. The staff even kindly gave them birthday cards to open. The stay was pleasant with 2 sleepy adults and 1 happy dog. Breakfast was delightful with friendly staff, great portion sizes and everything you could ask for. We met Bailey the hotel dog who was enjoying his morning cooked sausage - the lady then arranged for the chef to cook one for our dog. Best morning of his life. Lovely walk along the beach front and on the canal. We look forward to staying at the Grey Gull again. Thank you.

Stayed for one night midweek with my husband and our dog. Easily booked and a great price for dinner, bed and breakfast. Smooth check in. All the staff were very friendly and helpful from beginning to end. Really made to feel welcome and very dog friendly. Lovely spacious room on the ground floor, very comfortable bed. Plenty of choice for dinner and generous portions. Breakfast was lovely too. Will definitely return in the future.
