Braemar Youth Hostel is an impressive former shooting lodge standing within extensive grounds in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Braemar Youth Hostel offers a mix of traditional interiors and modern furnishings with many homely touches such as big comfy sofas, a large self-catering kitchen and dining room. The youth hostel also provides a good range of rooms including many private and family rooms. A popular choice with families, groups and outdoor enthusiasts looking for budget accommodation. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

We stayed here after attending the Ballater Highland Games. The building is wonderful, the staff friendly, the kitchen big and bright and the rooms clean and comfortable. The location is perfect ,only a short walk into town , and has nature trails nearby.

A wonderful hostel with great kitchen facilities and a nice lounge room to relax. The staff were very generous and helpful, and even opened up during their shut hours when I had left belongings behind. I used the laundry which was welcome after a long travel. Wifi in rooms a bonus, cos thats often not the case in rural Scottish hostels.

This is a fantastic youth hostel run by friendly, helpful staff. I stayed here for a week in early September to walk some Corbetts in the area surrounding the Cairngorms. This provided an ideal base with all the usual facilities (good kitchen, drying room, comfortable lounge, etc) and other friendly like minded visitors. This was my fourth stay at this hostel and I'm sure I'll be back again.

This was booked for a Munro bagging session in the Cairngorms. This hostel is ideally situated from the southern Cairngorms with plenty of options available. Located within the village of Braemar, which is a stunning village, within a wooded area packed with wildlife, red squirrels and birds, this is an old lodge, well built with a series of private and dormitory rooms, male and female dorms, all of which are reasonably priced. I stayed in a private room, which has a sink and two sets of bunk beds. This room was tidy, well maintained and quiet, even though it was next to the shower area. The beds were comfy, and came with a quilt cover, pillows and towels. One issue that I did have was the free wifi, which had only one bar of signal strength on my device, but only tested this in my room, so can’t elaborate further for the coverage in the rest of the building. I’d recommend staying there and will definitely return to finish the round of munro’s In the area.
