The hotel is situated in a central location which is ideal for shops etc. Some rooms are very spacious, on the whole mainly comfortable. This is the fourth time I've stayed at this hotel, and can honestly say the lack of customer service is shocking. The food served is pretty awful, and the waiting staff are about the worst I've...

We spent two nights here and found the room cosy and comfortable. The building has seen some modernity applied but I fear the plumbing may have Victorian roots still. The Breakfast was really good.( full Scottish for me) and there was a good selection for those who prefer the continental style. The staff were chatty and helpful throughout our all...

The Royal had some superb views across the bay from a number of rooms. The food is good and the staff (all local) are really helpful, friendly and cheery. Breakfast was good and the waitress could not have been more welcoming and attentive - a friendly person looking after her guests. Well worth staying here.

Lovely meals with my family and friend, all service was fast, food was lovely, they even catered for my fussy teenage daughter! The dining area is very well decorated with comfy seating. All staff were very friendly.

We didn't actually stay here, but went for an evening meal - no one was in the restaurant so we proceeded to McNabs Bar for a bar supper as there were people in there. Good food menu and reasonable prices. We ordered soup and a main each and bill was under £30. Served nice and hot, tasty and well presented...

2 nights stay was quite an experience. Morning breakfast was well served by Robin (Robyn), a nice attentive lady. Very seldom you get such service in UK these days. Normally in US, service is of utmost important. Room? Pretty roomy and spacious. Only the front desk lady wasn't that cheerful. I bet the weather molds a person ...

We stayed here in January using one of the hotel's discount breaks. What a great time we had. The hotel is a bit tired looking but it gives it real character. The breakfast is fantastic and nothing is too much bother for them. The room was more than adequate, clean and a great view over the harbour. The staff are...

The only drawback was not having an elevator but we knew that in advance. We were warmly received but our room wasn't ready so we ate lunch in the bar attached. Everyone was so nice, including other patrons, and we got several recommendations for dinner - even for competing restaurants. Would definitely go back. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes time...

We have a selection of over 34 en suite rooms, most of which feature stunning sea views looking on to Portree Bay. We have two restaurants which regularly sell a variety of local produce from Langoustines, Scallops and Fish to Venison and regular Scottish favourites such as Haggis and Mince and Tatties. Our hotel bar "MacNab's Inn" was famously the location where Bonnie Prince Charlie bode farewell to Flora Macdonald before making his way to France escaping the English army.
