Avoid weekends as it's a functional hotel for weddings. Our room was above the function room (as a upgrade-thanks for that!) The base on speakers vibrating through floor. Give the staff their due, they were friendly and did their best. Desperately needs a refurbishment. My whiskey came in a glass so scratched my mum wouldn't put her false teeth in...

I had been craving to go out for afternoon tea for a little while with my mum. She had a look online and saw the Royal Hotel had afternoon tea so we thought hmm seems nice, let's try it out. We arrived to a girl with her back to us at reception who took a few minutes to realise we...

Arrived for a wedding on Thursday 11 May given key to our room, got there to find a man lying on the floor with his feet sticking out of the bathroom trying to fix the toilet cistern. Then given key to room 14 opened the door to a very damp smell, badly cracked glass on the table. Went to have...

Arrived at 16:00 to see the dirty laundry coming out the main entrance and clean linen lying in polythene bags on the carpet right at reception (is there not a back entrance for this type of job?). I was clerked in to be told the wi-fi only worked in communal areas and not in any bedrooms. I was initially given...

I stayed at the Royal as I was attending a function in Stirling and as a bit of a trip down memory lane as I managed it about 16years ago. Sadly it has gone downhill. I had read some less than complimentary revues about the hotel, they were pretty accurate. The check in was smooth enough, and we were pointed...

This is a hotel in lovely old building but in desperate need of refurbishment. The stair cases wobble, the breakfast room is souless, and most of the rooms are furnished at a most basic level. We stayed in a room at the front which was actually very nice, but the rest of our party were not so lucky. There was...

Staying at this hotel was a nightmare. I was in room 5 first and it took 30 minutes to get any hot water. The staff said that they will change my room. Generally when staff try to compensate, a better room is provided. I was shifted to room 16, that was worse than room 5. The bath had a few...

Stayed as a coach party visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo. Whilst the building is old and tired looking, refurbishment of the rooms seems to be being undertaken. My wife and I were certainly happy in room 5, the decoration was reasonable and the furniture seemed fairly new. The bed was excellent and gave us a wonderfully sound nights rest. The food...

My husband and I used the Royal Hotel for our wedding venue. Fiona, our Wedding Coordinator, was very accommodating and extremely helpful during the entire long-distance planning process. She helped me plan every detail and made sure everything was taken care of without a hitch from 4.600 miles away! We had a such a wonderful experience and the most spectacular...
