we used Auchinleck House to travel back in time and dress in costumes as they did in 1800 when the Boswells lived here . We all had a wonderful time .The house was prepared very well and all facilities were good . The house is pretty much as it was apart from modern appliances and uses in keeping furniture and...

We came to Auchinleck House as a family of 12. We had wonderful time. This place is magnificent full of history. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean, tidy and extremely spacious. There is loads to do although there no wifi or televisions but you won’t need it at all. Bring yourself some board games and cards and enjoy spending time...

Review is about Boswell's Coach House in the grounds of Auchinleck House but Search did not find it. Lovely surroundings in the converted coach house. Only here for morning coffee but there seemed to be a selection of main meals available too. Tea, coffee, scones and cakes were all first class. Well made, well presented and served promptly with a...

Great to have the full run of a stately home all to ourselves for a few days! Lovely house, & grounds, really cosy & warm not creepy at all despite its size. First time Land mark users, would definately stay again. All the family had a great time, the weather didn't put a damper on it either. Helpful housekeeper and...

We are devoted 'Landmarkers' and have never had a bad experience. Auchinleck House did not disappoint. Firstly, much to our surprise, the house is warm ... all the time, with copious amounts of hot water ( you need to see the size of the boilers to appreciate this. ) Yes, as usual you can light fires in certain rooms and...

I enjoy visiting many of our stately homes and this comes out one of the top in my list. It is a 'homely' house for a stately home, whereas many others are more like town halls or museums. This is a great place to visit.

Beautifully restored building. A huge effort has gone into explaining the history of the renovation and the Boswell family connection - which is still real. Living with some of Boswell's furniture gives a true sense of living history. More prosaically, the house was well equipped - especially the spacious kitchen - and it was easy to cook for 14. My...

I have stayed here twice with friends and luckily once with work! The setting is incredible and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. The bedrooms and house are well maintained and there is plenty to do (look out for the hidden grotto on the estate) just stunning!

Chances are if you are intending to stay here you are already a Landmark trust member ~ in which case you will know what expect and won't be disappointed. This a lovely, well restored, old house in a delightful setting. Expect a well appointed and clean property. Readers of this site are wanting to know the flaws - there are...

We celebrated significant birthdays here with good friends. Its a great, historical place to stay with a great atmosphere. It is really spacious (as you would expect), the open fires are lovely and atmospheric. Don't let lack of en-suites, TVs and WIFI put you off - its lovely when its full with family and friends. Well done Landmark Trust for...
