Stayed one night at the start of our Scottish holiday. Super friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Room very dated although super spacious (236), horrendous black mould in the shower, which made it look really shabby, no excuse for black mould there are plenty of cleaning products available! Lovely beer garden at the back. It’s was ok for one night.

We only stayed here for 1 night bed and breakfast but can highly recommend it. The hotel has a nice traditional feel and golfers will love all the memorabilia. There is a great selection of bars and lounges, as well as a nice outdoor area, and they have dealt with the current restrictions very well. Our room was a recently refurbished twin, which was spacious and well equipped and had very comfortable beds. Bathroom was nicely refurbished, although shower could have been better. The breakfast was lovely, arrived in good time and all the staff were very friendly and attentive.

During the pandemic we've visited Piersland House for four short breaks. It makes a wonderful destination for what feels like a holiday even if it's only for a night or two. We have never been disappointed. Each room we've stayed in has been comfortable, well-appointed and scrupulously cleaned. The hotel's architecture and decor are impressive. Covid measures are in place and strictly adhered too, so we've always felt safe, and been well cared for by staff who are without exception fantastic. 'Dinner, b & b' deals are very good value and all meals we've had have been most enjoyable. It's also a delight to enjoy dinner, and perhaps a glass or two, and have only to saunter upstairs to your room. The nearby beach provides plenty of opportunity to walk off any excess, as well as great sea views. Even when we can (we hope) resume holidays further afield, we shall still return to our new-found home from home.

Normally stay at Royal Marine in Troon . We decided to come a bit closer to town. Bad choice. With rooms costing same price we had a severe let down. Had asked for a sea view £135 per night. The room we got looked onto the beer garden number 235 First impressions it was large and dated with a double bed and a single . Bathroom in need of a makeover. So we dumped our stuff and headed out for the day. Around 9 we headed back to our room . On entry to the bathroom we saw lots on ants running around . Hubby did the macho bit and tissued them to death. I went for a bath but couldn’t settle as they just kept appearing. Off he goes to reception while I start to pack up looking to move as hotel certainly not full. Back comes young girl from reception with large container of white ant killer and proceeded to sprinkle it in the bathroom telling us yeah we had ants here earlier. No need to move us and would not move us OMG If we had not had wine we would have driven home . After a totally sleepless night we were up to reception . Got some speech from some guy who we don’t know what his role was and who would not let my husband speak telling us about how they knew about the ants room had been sprayed and basically tough your near the beach they don’t bite. Couldn’t wait to get out of there my skin was crawling. He did say that when we came back for another stay he would give us a good price. EH let me think about that. THINK that’s a mega no. On the bright side the staff apart from him were all lovely and the evening meal we bought was tasty. Sadly at breakfast the ants had followed us.

After booking a superior room on arrival I was given my room and was certainly not a superior room. I had only booked for the superior room with private garden/patio. I was allowed to change room and ended up on the top floor, again not a superior room. I was supposed to stay for 2 night's but ended up leaving early was so disappointed. Cannot fault the housekeeping they are fantastic and friendly. If I had got the room I paid for maybe thing's would have been different but I do think all room's needs updating
