Moving to the area we needed to stay over for one night while awaiting keys and formalities before moving in to our new home the next day. The Royal took us in at late notice and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Plenty of parking...More
Having read some reviews I was a bit reluctant to book but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is old and a bit tired but the room and ensuite were spotless. The bed was very comfortable. My dinner was absolutely delicious, leaving no room for dessert....More
Clean and tidy nice little hotel. Ayaz was excelent. Couldn’t do enough for you. Food was of a high standard. Bar was well equipped. Ayaz was an excelent host and very pleasant.. Will be staying for my next trip.
A warm welcome awaits at check in which is very quick.
The single rooms are very small but adequate. The whole building is very clean.
The bed was comfy.
Wifi is a bit slow so we couldn’t FaceTime back home.
Breakfast was excellent.
We had a 1 night stay in 2 separate rooms. Our 4-poster was large but in need of updating - water stained ceiling, no plug for the bathtub and rather dirty carpet. All in all, not a bad accommodation but it misses the mark as...More

Hello there, apologies I did not see your question earlier. I was quite surprised by the hotel as I kind of expected the same, but it was very quiet when we were there, the restaurant was ok, however I'd recommend the restaurant by the station. It is ageing a bit, but the friendly staff and location more than made up for it as it was nice to be central. I believe the place was very busy at one point when the oil was booming, however the the terminal nearby has pretty much all but closed its door and I believe the whole town is quieter due to this. I was just in a single room, which was a bit on the small side, but I'd imagine the family rooms would be a lot larger. There is no smoking in the hotel by law (UK laws now). My room was cleaned daily. I dare say there is better hotels around Tain, however they're a bit of a distance. I was happy, but was only there on business. I hope this is of some help to you guys, and that you enjoy your trip, it is what you make of it that counts :)
