Nice welcoming hotel, beautiful property. My partner and I stayed during a trip around the NC500 in the summer of 2016. Very hot day at 24+ degC outside, however the room was freezing when we 1st got the key and dropped off our bags in the room. I was pleased as I thought the room was air conditioned. We commented on how lovely the room was and my partner sat for a photo in front of the dressing table with mirror. She kept her hoody on as she was cold. On looking back at the photo I instantly noticed the reflection of the hair in the mirror. The contours of my partners hair basically looked like an smiling old womans face. We had our evening meal which was very nice and retired back to our room. That night it was hard to sleep as it was so hot in the room. After we left I was curious about yhe photo so researched the hotel and read about the lady owner ghost. Hotel and room had a very warm friendly feel. It's worth mentioning I'm not really a believer in the paranormal... but you look at the photo and decide....

Room was not in the photos on booking.com Mattress was old and uncomfortable Shower not usable due to pressure and temperature constantly changing Breakfast was standard Staff were friendly and helpful with one exception: INKA at reception actually shouted at me when I pointed out the problems we had experienced, she then got stuck in a loop repeating that nobody had ever complained about this and that I should leave immediately. I tried to calm her down and explain to her that I am merely criticising the accommodation because it was sub standard but she just spiralled out of control and couldn’t stop shouting. She could not listen nor help me resolve this in any way yet claiming she was the manager refusing to let someone else handle a complaint which was clearly over her head. I used to run Leslie Castle B&B with a rating of 9.3 on booking.com until I sold it in 2018

Had a fabulous stay here, the staff couldn’t of been more accommodating, friendly and welcoming. All were wearing masks and adhered to the covid restrictions. We felt very safe here. The rooms were beautiful, clean and in keeping with the style of the property. They managed to squeeze us in another night and I’m so very glad we managed to stay here two nights instead of the one that we had originally planned. Food was delicious and served promptly even when we requested to eat earlier. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay even better than we had hoped for!

The photos online looked lovely- the real thing was tired. We arrived tired from our long drive and had to wait 2hours until the gas lorry came and they could tell us if we could actually stay there!!! (Only that we had prepaid we would NOT have stayed!) We were eventually given a room. First look was “Wow”. But then we discovered the trampoline bed, the lack of any socket that wasn’t on the floor behind furniture, the rusty shower with broken door and plastic curtain that stuck to you when showering. Then there was the jacuzzi bath - looked ok until it filled up with dirty water. Then, when the jets came on, brown floaters came out. I added bubbles and tried to enjoy- when I saw the dirty grunge left in the bath when emptied, I was very sorry I had been in it! Meal got mixed up - my medium steak was too well done and tasteless and even though I had stressed I was allergic to tomatoes they were in the salad! Breakfast was a few tins of fruit - if you were lucky enough to be in time to get them- and Cooked food was disappointing. This hotel has great potential but needs a lot of improvement!!
