Just spent a lovely night at Auchlea after visiting friends in Dornoch. Stayed in a twin room with an 11 month old baby. Fiona was very helpful and accommodating. We were offered everything I needed for our baby like a baby bath, towel, changing mat and even a cot although we had our own. The shower in the room was...

Fiona is a superb host. Breakfast was complete and genuine, the home-made jams simply superb. Fiona was helpful and available under every respect, she helped us to look for additional information on our trip and gave us best possible recommendation to enjoy our evening in Dornoch.

Just 2 mins from Dornoch by car, this b&b is the perfect resting place. A sweet and quiet corner of the countryside with the right balance between warm service and freedom of movement. Not to be missed: delicious breakfast with home made bread, pancakes, jam!

My fiancee's family decided to host a family reunion in Dornoch. After a beautiful 4 hour drive from Edinburgh, we followed the directions and came upon a quaint house overlooking the bay. The house and host were extremely warm and inviting. The best part of the room has to be the jacuzzi tub which was perfect after the long flight...

My friend John and I, passionate golfers, stayed at the Garvie residence for 3 nights as we played the 4 'Golf Gems' of the unforgettable 'Dornoch Hub' (Royal Dornoch, Brora, Tain and Golspie). The Auchlea B&B greets its guests with wonderful rambling gardens in a country setting. One starts the day with a lovely view of the magnificent surrounding countryside...

We stayed here for three days and very much appreciated Fiona's gracious help and excellent breakfasts. We recommend people to stay there. Fiona was accomodating to our non-dairy vegetaian diet requests and was helpful about things to do in the area.

We stayed at this B&B for one night on 6th Aug 11 and were well satisfied. The view over the Dornoch Firth and surrounding area is outstanding. Being a little way out of town it was quiet and peaceful. On arrival, Fiona extended a warm and friendly welcome and offered advice on locations to eat within the town. Our criticisms...

We really enjoyed our stay at Auchlea guest house. The hostess Mrs Fiona Garvie was both warm and attentive, providing lots of helpful information to ensure we made the most of our visit. Our two rooms were well appointed (including wifi), comfortable and spotlessly clean, and we enjoyed a full breakfast, including fresh fruit and all the trimmings the next...

“Both double rooms excellent. We had room at the front.”

“Avoid it completely, but if you have to at least avoid the handicapped accessible room (at the end of the hallway to the right).”
  • The room with the air and smell of the retirement home of my grandparents.
  • Yellowed Bedsheet (compared to the white pillow)
  • Worn-out and smelly towels. The unused flannel dyed the water grey.
  • The mouldy shower
  • Cheap plastic and untreated wood. Nice look, but unhygienic.
