Arrived on Friday afternoon after a long drive. Sun was shining and the hotel looked grand from the outside. Location is ideal. Check in was uneventful though card machine is still out of order, hotel only accepting cash payments.. Notice someone commented on this last year. Arrived at our room on the third floor and that's when my heart ♥...

Grand facade - but entrance showed its age and era. However our upgraded room was very clean, spacious enough with a bay window overlooking the gardens, then bay. The evening meal let it down: a choice from the 70's - we chose to forego starters and went straight into mains - chicken arrived with school dinner veg - boiled to...

We booked a night here on a groupon deal. The hotel has recently been bought over and is undergoing some improvements. We found the room to be clean and comfortable, the food to be excellent and the staff to be very helpful, informative and friendly. We will almost certainly go back.

I am rating our stay here as poor. The only reason it is not terrible is because we actually got a really good nights sleep. Stayed in room 122. Refurbished room, which we selected when we booked. The images of the other rooms compared to these was like night and day. Check in. Arrived about 5pm. Was handed an actual...

My wife Margaret and I have stayed in this hotel many times over the years and love it. We were more than a bit dismayed late last year to learn it was closing about Christmas time. However we were more than pleased to learn that rather than being demolished and turned into a car-park or whatever it had simply changed...

We went to this hotel after a long days journey by coach from Teesside....It was worth it...We were there for three nights with a self serve breakfast arrangement (brilliant!!), evening meals which were appetising and well presented by well trained staff. The hotel has an illustrious history with previous guests including Bing Crosby and the ilk..It still has filligrees of...

Well the town itself was very very quiet often only myself and my wife walking aboout after dark, a little surreal to be honest, but that is what we went for. We paid extra to have a 'sea' view room which to be honest we did have but at a distance of about half a mile. Overall we enjoyed our...

We haver stayed in the Bay Dornoch Hotel several times over the last 10 years. It is in a fantastic location overlooking the golf course and sea in the unique cathedral town of Dornoch. It is very much a budget hotel owned by Shearings and largely used for their coach parties. Originally it would have been a very grand hotel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in its own grounds overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Dornoch Firth this is a truly grand and impressive building. The exterior of the hotel has recently undergone tasteful redecoration and on the inside you will be greeted by a fine sweeping staircase and a warm Highland welcome. From the relaxing Sun Lounge you can admire the superb views and watch the world go by or enjoy a drink in the wood-panelled Links Lounge Bar. For the more energetic, there is a (seasonal) pitch and putt golf course in the hotel grounds where you can enjoy a round to build up your appetite for dinner. The Four Seasons and Links Restaurants within the hotel offer great dining options. This is an excellent base to visit the remote scenery of the area and to explore the lochs, moorland terrain and charm of Scotland’s far north. ... more   less
