#6 of 6 hotels in Dornoch
Set in its own grounds overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Dornoch Firth this is a truly grand and impressive building. The exterior of the hotel has recently undergone tasteful redecoration and on the inside you will be greeted by a fine sweeping staircase and a warm Highland welcome. From the relaxing Sun Lounge you can admire the superb views and watch the world go by or enjoy a drink in the wood-panelled Links Lounge Bar. For the more energetic, there is a (seasonal) pitch and putt golf course in the hotel grounds where you can enjoy a round to build up your appetite for dinner. The Four Seasons and Links Restaurants within the hotel offer great dining options. This is an excellent base to visit the remote scenery of the area and to explore the lochs, moorland terrain and charm of Scotland’s far north.

How nice to see the hotel open again. Although still a little bit dated, could not fault the cleanliness of the rooms with fabulous sea views. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

So, this hotel is a bit dated, reception areas are beautiful. Rooms could do with some care and attention. Staff as far as customer service couldn't do more for you, but in dress could do with being alittle tidier. Mostly for coach parties there is evening entertainment tailored to that corner of the market. Food was good value for money. I would stay there again.

Sorry state of rooms in what is potentially a lovely old hotel. I understand things need updated & require a bit of TLC every now & again, but the dirt & condition of the decor in rooms is actually very sad. Thick cobwebs between curtains & wall, also to upper sash windows. Wallpaper hanging at corners, dirt clearly visible between joints. Luke warm bath/shower water. Breakfast decidedly average, obviously cooked en mass & left in ban Marie type contaiers, bacon was like leather by the time it was served up, black pudding synthetic & cheap, which was only 5 mins after restaurant open. Only plus was the staff were freindly & helpful. Sorry to say we wont be back.

This hotel is very very tired At best it’s not even a 1 star . Unfortunately I had to stay 2 nights my room smelled musty the carpets were very old and stained the furniture was falling apart the wallpaper was peeling of the walls only held on by the cobwebs. My used towels I had left on the floor to be changed were thrown on the radiator ant it was turned up full to try and dry them . I told the desk to get them changed and clean my room . I was told this was now done but nope only 2 new towels thrown on the bed and nothing cleaned so still dirty and full of cobwebs. All my clothes smell musty will need cleaned. I would rather sleep in my car or drive 4 hrs home before staying here . The only thing that would fix this place would be to rip it out and refit and change the staff .
