Well the town itself was very very quiet often only myself and my wife walking aboout after dark, a little surreal to be honest, but that is what we went for. We paid extra to have a 'sea' view room which to be honest we did have but at a distance of about half a mile. Overall we enjoyed our...

We haver stayed in the Bay Dornoch Hotel several times over the last 10 years. It is in a fantastic location overlooking the golf course and sea in the unique cathedral town of Dornoch. It is very much a budget hotel owned by Shearings and largely used for their coach parties. Originally it would have been a very grand hotel...

We arrived late at night the room we was allocated was appalling the bathroom had a massive crack down one wall on the side of the bath, no way was i getting in the bath, not even a shower over the bath,...

A huge disappointment - from a distance the hotel looks impressive - its only when you enter that you get a very different impression. Looks like it had got stuck in a time warp - our room was awful - paint coming off the window ledges - peeling wallpaper where the damp had got in. Black spots and mildew -...

Well we have to say that our recent journey up to Sutherland and Caithness was definitely worth the 13/14 hour Coach journey to get up there Can't recommend enough this National Holidays "Dornoch & John O' Groats Spectacular" as on yet another occasion, Scotland never fails to deliver it's "Spectacular" scenery. Especially passing through the Cairngorms National Park, Strath Fleet...

Stayed here on a trip with National Holidays. As with most of the hotels we have experienced with these trips they tend to be old ones, looking a bit tired. However it looks like the room had been repainted in the recent past, the carpet could have done with a shampoo. The room had a bath but no shower facility,...

Looks good from the outside and reception but our room, although spacious, was tired and had some obvious mould in the bathroom and a not too clean window which just about opened for some fresh air. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in its own grounds overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Dornoch Firth this is a truly grand and impressive building. The exterior of the hotel has recently undergone tasteful redecoration and on the inside you will be greeted by a fine sweeping staircase and a warm Highland welcome. From the relaxing Sun Lounge you can admire the superb views and watch the world go by or enjoy a drink in the wood-panelled Links Lounge Bar. For the more energetic, there is a (seasonal) pitch and putt golf course in the hotel grounds where you can enjoy a round to build up your appetite for dinner. The Four Seasons and Links Restaurants within the hotel offer great dining options. This is an excellent base to visit the remote scenery of the area and to explore the lochs, moorland terrain and charm of Scotland’s far north. ... more   less
