The Orca is a nice, clean three-star guesthouse centrally located in Stromness. We didn't need pampering while we were there, and the Orca suited us just fine. Breakfast was excellent. The owner provided just what we needed after a day of cycling and an evening of indulgence: strong coffee and a plate of tasty proteins. We enjoyed our stay very...

From slightly sceptical to complete satisfaction. Interesting, pleasant and knowledgeable hostess who accommodated us unexpectedly (too wet for camping) without any fuss. Fine little room with all the basic comforts (lots of teabags and biscuits etc). Undisturbed good night's sleep and a first class full Scottish breakfast in the morning which set us up for a very windy and chilly...

We stayed at the Orca Hotel for two nights in late August. We arrived a bit earlier than check-in time but Doris graciously met us and showed us to our room. It wasn't quite ready, but we were able to leave our bags and go out for a bit of lunch and touring around. We came back to find that...

First the negatives, the rooms was facing the road and there was a little noise from traffic and the chippy opposite. Size wasn't too bad, not to Premier Inn size, but I've slept in far smaller rooms. Parking was hit and miss, some days we could park almost outside, others we had to park up the hill and walk down...

Doris is a very friendly host - and a great cook! She was very accommodating regarding arrival/departure times, and available to answer any questions we had. The hotel was right near the ferry from Scrabster. I would rebook if I were to return to the Orkneys!

Conveniently located in the heart of Stromness. Car parking is away from the Guest house up the hill a bit. Doris is a fantastic hostess! Stromness itself is a quiet place with some cracking views of the harbour.

We stayed two nights in June - our after midnight arrival on the bus from the Aberdeen ferry was no problem. Neither was leaving our luggage on our last day - we caught the evening bus back to Kirkwall. The room was clean and tidy, the beds warm and comfortable. Breakfast was superb - tasty and plentiful, with variety too....

Orca hotel was a great place to stay in Stromness. The room was cozy, and the host was welcoming and helpful. There doth exist a fantastical view of thee wharf of the high night northern seas. Breakfast was great, and they were able to accommodate our dietary needs. Go for it!
