Last February we booked a stay here and arrived with a copy of the confirming email in hand only to find no record of the booking. The host did find us a room at the Ferry Inn nearby but at a higher rate and claimed that would have been the rate she'd have charged us had our room been available....

Our stay was really nice and the owners are perfect hosts. The room was clean and well-kept AND the breakfast delicious. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay in Stromness.

I visit Orkney for business from time to time and since staying here when I first started about 5 years ago I have always stayed here. I agree with everything that Carol says, she and I were both there during the Tall Ships events which was fun. I usually write in the comments book but forgot! So friendly and welcoming.

You have to experience it to believe it. I run out of superlatives for this wonderfully warm and welcoming B&B and for the family who run it. Could not have chosen a better place to stay. In fact this B&B was so good, I extended my stay from just a few days to 10 days and there was not a...

We really enjoyed our stay here. Kay is such a friendly, gracious host. She offers a laundry service and we were sure glad to use it! We had the family room for two nights and found it was of a decent size and very comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is to put a sign on the bathroom door...

Being welcomed into a stranger's home when so far from home is just what you get at 45 John Street. Soon you will no longer feel like a foreign visitor at all. The breakfasts are incredible and the Sinclairs all chip in to make you as comfortable as can be. We hope to return to Orkney, in large part, because...

As others have mentioned, the owners are very welcoming and the breakfasts are superb. Standard scottish breakfast, but bursting in flavour and colour. Location is very central, a stone throw away from the ferry terminal and ideal for exploring Stromness on foot. Rooms are cosy, spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable, but I found the bathroom / shower a bit...

A warm and friendly welcome is a guarantee from Kay & Niel at this lovely guest house, This was our third year of staying here and wouldn't go elsewhere, the breakfasts to die for home baking, pack lunches all freshly prepared and not forgetting the comfortable rooms and beds. Location is 200 meters from the ferry so no costly taxis.
