It is some time since we visited Dakota but recently had dinner there with a family group of eight as it is convenient for Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh. The staff were excellent as two of the party were surprise attendees and they helped greatly with arrangements. The meal was excellent with superb food served efficiently and the staff seemed to...

A perfectly nice hotel, with a good gym and good breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and the room was a very good size with a large walk in shower which I in all honesty prefer to a bath and having to clamber into have a shower. The hotel is a little dark but there are these really clever things...

Rooms were really nice all be it rather dark. The wardrobes are hidden around the back of the bed, with no light. Shower was amazing and bed was very comfy! Had room service one night, £5 tray charge was a bit steep. Ate in the grill and again very nice food but rather expensive for what it was.

Externally, the hotel is a distinctive black cuboid. The surprise is that the black theme extends throughout the interior. This hotel is dark. Not just mood lighting, but children’s night light dark in many places. Allied to an overwhelming very dark décor (and some rich red upholstery in reception) this left me feeling as if I had walked in to...

Spent last weekend in the Dakota for our wedding anniversary. No kids, no pets, just us. Check in was quick and easy and we were in our room in no time. Rooms are gorgeous and spotlessly clean. There's ample hanging storage, ironing board, tea/coffee and freshly baked cookies. Headed to the bar for a drink which was so laid back....

This Hotel looks non-discript and austere from outside, however it is keeping a secret. Very warm and welcoming to match the standard of service provided by the staff. Make the most of this hotel not being particularly central as it is very peaceful at night. The grounds and views to the rear are better than those at the front. Could...

My first ever stay at this hotel and what a fabulous place, though when I first walked through the doors, I thought A) I had left my sunglasses on or B) I have walked into a nightclub! It is very dark and atmospheric, a little disconcerting when you first enter reception, which is not obvious either, it took me a...

Stayed here earlier in the year with my boyfriend. Was so looking forward to it we had booked a executive suite. The rooms on arrival was lovely, lots of quirky decoration. Bathroom spacious with a big waterfall shower. The room advertised a 'chocolate turn down service' a member of staff appeared at our room with two tiny chocolates. Felt embarrassed...

Lovely staff. Hotel was spotless. Bed was comfortable. Personal taste but I found the hotel very dark and slightly depressing place to be in. Especially my room 202. I like lots of natural light though. I wasn't keen either on the fact there is a full length mirror in the bathroom where you can see yourself whilst using the toilet.
