Went back to Lossiemouth after 25 years. looking for somewhere to stay found a very good deal on a booking website for the Stotfield. Yes it's true the hotel is a little tired in places and the rooms a little basic ( although everything you would expect was there ) but the staff were very friendly and it's well worth...

I approached this Hotel with trepidation having read the reviews after I booked it. Sure its a bit old and has a few less than perfect repairs but its very clean, the staff are great, the breakfast is good, the beds are comfy. If you are paying 60£ for a double room plus breakfast you cannot expect an artisan sausage...

In September 2014 we spent 2 nights at this hotel which we found to be one of the worst we had experienced. We were booked into a sea view room that I doubt had been properly cleaned for several years. Apart from the damaged and chipped bedroom furniture the bathroom was in a disgusting state with the ceiling area near...

This hotel has its ups but also too many downs. On the positive side - its is close to the golf course, its a grand building, the water and the restaurant is good enough. Staff is friendly (but seemed to me a bit confused). On the down side are the rest of the hotel. Thin walls and doors: you'll hear...

We dined at the Stofield Hotel restaurant on Saturday evening. The view across the golf course to the Moray Firth was amazing. The menu was varied, something for everyone. I had stuffed pork with cream cheese sauce, it is the best meal I have had in a long time, it was fantastic. The hotel was busy due to a wedding,...

We chuckled, and giggled, and laughed and enjoyed, and that was at the hotel itself. The building has character, which character I'm not too sure - Either Walt Disney or Hanna Barbera either one it really was a pleasure to stay at the Stotfield. Having read all previous reviews, once again I'm torn between opinions - The really bad ones...

What a grand hotel the Stotfield must have been! You can still catch glimpses but it is definitely well overdue for a total makeover. We booked for the location and that can't be beat - across the street from golf and the beach. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and I can also recommend the breakfast...

We haven't laughed so much for a long time! It was so bad there was nothing else to do. There are lots of reviews on Trip Advisor which accurately describe how awful this place is so I will keep my comments short. Our stay started by having to take 3 heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs (no lift). The...

Centrally located to my research interests. However internet access was limited to the public areas downstairs which was disappointing. Otherwise a reasonable mid-range hotel - old but not as bad as some reviews suggest.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A warm welcome awaits you at this family run hotel in Lossiemouth. A great relaxed family friendly atmosphere exists at this hotel and is frequented by many returning guests and locals alike. The breathtaking view from the front of hotel overlooks the Moray Firth and beyond to the Cromarty Firth and to the hills of Caithness. The hotel is directly opposite the ancient Moray Golf Club, and is ideally situated for exploring the Coastal, Castle or Whisky trail, as well as being well situated for visiting the cities of Inverness and Aberdeen and surrounding area. The Stotfield Hotel has recently undergone a refreshing transformation of many of its bedrooms and also the ground floor guest area. However, this historic hotel retains many of its original character and features from 1895, including the fantastic sweeping staircase and period revolving front door. During your stay you can enjoy free access to high speed wireless broadband throughout the hotels public areas, free car parking (limited spaces available, ample on street parking adjacent to the hotel) but most of all comfortable and relaxed surroundings. ... more   less
