We stayed at the Red Lion for 2 nights in March. Our room was spacious and clean and the huge bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and we were not disappointed. We chose to have the full English and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and, although the bar area was quiet, it's a nice...

The Red Lion is situated right in the middle of Wareham. You can easily walk to all of the town from here and. It's an old pub but very comfortable. The room we stayed in was huge. It had a comfortable double and single bed. Small TV. Coffee, tea & bottled water. Good real ale and reasonable dinner menu. Parking...

Booked for two nights. Arrived a little early but room was ready and staff very helpful. Excellent location for a gentle walk around the town or as a base for other activities. We had bikes and cycled down to the nature reserve at Arne and on to Corfe Castle, along the coast and back, a good central position for many...

This is a review of the restaurant only. this is an old coaching inn, in need of some TLC. The staff are very kind and welcoming, but the food was plentiful but disappointing. I had the lunchtime Sunday roast beef. The beef was very challenging needed a steak knife to cut it, it was very overcooked the Yorkshire pudding was...

Arrived before 3pm to be told we could get into our room, which was nice, as my partner was going onto another job, so I checked in to room 10, very hard bed, and lime scale in shower head and taps was really bad, water pressure was poor, as I had been travelling since 5am, was looking forward to a...

Enjoyed an excellent meal out for wife's birthday with friends at the Red Lion, Wareham last week. We both had the pick n mix faggots which were excellent and wholesome and at £10 priced spot on. Excellent ambience (fairly quiet though as midweek), excellent choice of draught real ales and cider and spurits behind the bar. Would definitely come again.

This pub does some of the best lunches in Wareham and I recommend this lovely public house to everyone. Try the steak or cod and chips and you will not be disappointed. Would use this place every time. Rooms are good and reasonable for the price.

We stayed for two nights, to explore this part of Dorset. The hotel is located in the centre of Wareham, and is very convenient for visiting the Tank Museum, and Monkey World. Wareham itself is also very attractive, with a good range of bars and restaurants. We booked bed and breakfast, and the breakfast was outstanding. Anything you wanted from...

Sadly only stayed one night and would definitely revisit for a longer stay. Lovely, historic building in a picturesque location. Room great with everything you need and friendly atmosphere in the bar. Staff brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful. Best breakfast in a long time! Very handy for Monkey World and Lulworth Cove.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Red Lion, after years of neglect, has undergone a refurbishment totaling around half a million pounds. The Red Lion now boasts 8 individually designed bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and some are suites. We have a formal restaurant, a relaxed snug dining area and comfortable bar with a great selection of lagers, ales, wines, premium spirits and champagnes. We are situated on the town cross in the centre of Wareham, the gateway to the Jurassic coast. Wareham is beautifully placed to tour the South coast. NB Please disregard any comments pre-July 2011 as they relate to previous operators. ... more   less
