We visited here 5 years ago and were blown away with the food and friendly staff, in fact we loved it so much we came three times during our weeks holiday. Expecting more of the same we were so disappointed to find that it had changed hands and the place was not nearly as welcoming as previously. The staff are...

After a walk over Egardon Hill we sat in the sun eating good locally sourced food with a good pint of Palmers enjoying the view from the terrace. Not many better ways of spending an afternoon. Really good food and a pub well worth finding.

We were staying in next door Nettlecombe. Powerstock is a 5 minute walk across a small valley. We thought we'd try the pub. And were blown away by the food and the setting. John has cooked in some grander places although probably not more lovely. It means that "he knows how to do it" and you get food way above...

Beautiful village, nice walk through the fields to a neighbouring pub, surprised by some great folk music with a brilliant turn out on a Thursday night - we'll be back! :) Room basic but definitely did the job!

My family of 5 took up the only 2 rooms that this pub has for overnight stays. The rooms are attached to the pub and has its own entrance which is nice and private. The rooms are large and spacious, nicely decorated and with high quality facilities (lovely large walk in showers). The beds are comfortable and the views over...

This is a very nice pub situated in a tiny village with an interesting history. It is a part of Dorset completely unknown to us, and it was a leap in the dark booking a meal. We were agreeably surprised! Fortunately the evening was warm so we were able to sit in the garden with a drink and which has...

We first visited the Three Horseshoes in 1990 and this was only our second time back since then. Glad to say it has improved on my distant memory. The room was spacious, clean with great views across the hills and very peaceful. The menu in the restaurant was fairly short but the cooking exemplary (we later found out that the...

We visited this pub while on holiday, its gets quite busy with regulars. The meal we had was nice, the service was ok. They let dogs in the pub aswell which is helpful and they also have a small outside area. The inside bar area of the pub is not all that big so you are probably best to book...

I didn't stay in this hotel, just popped in for food as was in the area. Lovely looking pub from the outside. Great views from the back patio (not for the feint hearted or like me if you are scared of heights) Serves Palmers ales, need I say more. Landlord & Landlady were very accommodating and really nice to chat...

Excellent value, nice sized room for 3 people, comfortable bed and good food, which made good use of local produce. Would definitely recommend for an overnight stay or a few days. Very pretty village with lovely local walks and views.
