Lovely place to stay, owner was brilliant and friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxing. The cottage was gorgeous and has sky tv, two bathrooms with deep baths, lovely bedrooms and was warm and cosy. There is even a log burner which was lovely. The location is amazing and the views are breath taking. I have already booked to go...

A gorgeous house in a beautiful setting. Loved our room, the facilities and the location. Lucinda is absolutely lovely and very welcoming. The setting of the house is overlooking the valley, with unspoilt views. Breakfast is a delight and certainly sets you up for the day.

Stunning property full of character deep in the Devon countryside. Perfect for two couples or families as you get the whole cottage with its fabulous facilities. Welcoming host Lucinda provides a first class breakfast (loved the fresh berries and yoghurt too) and the bacon was cooked to perfection. Thank you for looking after us so well. Sue

Somebody must like me! I had to book a last minute trip to Devon and made a booking at Bowhayes. What a find! It's amazing. The de-stressage starts the moment you pull into the drive. It really is the most tranquil, beautiful place to stay. The room I relaxed in had a bed in it that was like setting sail...

We had a much too short stay at Bowhayes and found it the quintessential Devon experience. Fabulous 17th century farmhouse with lashings of ancient oak, views to the village church and the rolling hills beyond and beautiful thatched roof. The welcome from Lucinda and the gorgeous dogs was friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming despite the late hour. The accommodation oozed charm...

Had a short but very enjoyable stay at Bowhayes Farm. The owner is very pleasant and accommodating. Inside: You get exclusive use of almost one half of a very long thatched cottage with its own kitchen, lounge, two bathrooms (with a bath in each), and two double bedrooms. No noise from adjoining accommodation at all and we didn't feel our...

Having managed to book entirely the wrong dates, arriving on Lucinda's doorstep unexpected and a month early, Lucinda could not have been more accommodating or wonderful. She happily still put us up, and what a relief she did as our weekend was exactly what we were hoping for - relaxing, peaceful and full of amazing food. Even in the pouring...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bowhayes Farm is a thatched Devon longhouse built, we think, in the 1600's. We have tried to retain its period features wherever possible and the accommodation has been finished to a very high standard using natural materials such as reclaimed oak and slate. We offer 2 double bedrooms (one can be made up as a twin), each with private bathrooms and guests have use of a sitting room with wood burning stove, satellite TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. A additional double room is also available for larger parties (short stays only). Breakfast can be a choice of English or continental and is sourced from local produce whenever possible. We provide a well appointed kitchenette with mini oven, microwave, toaster and fridge for guests own use as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Catering for lunch, tea and supper can be arranged at extra cost (bookable in advance only). The farm sits on the hill above Culmstock and enjoys breathtaking views along the Culm valley and on a clear day across to Exmoor. £55 Per person per night. ... more   less

“Not recommended for any elderly person with a poor sense of balance, who might fall down the stairs, which in places do not have a hand rail. I also recommend that you take a torch with you, in case you need to visit the toilet in the middle of the night without waking your husband/wife by turning on the light.”
