We have just stayed in the cottages at Bickleigh Castle. It was a 2 night Amazon purchase and worth every penny and more. Time out from a busy life to slow down in relaxing surroundings. The couple that run it are friendly and helpful and obviously love the place. The castle tour is interesting and the host well informed. They...

Well worth a stay if you want a base in Devon. The castle is about 4 miles South of Tiverton and, when you reach Bickleigh, its signposted. As its name suggests and informs you, its a CASTLE!! If you like pomp, ceremony, luxury and stuffy places, then steer clear! (Remember, its a castle not the Ritz). In the main section...

You enter the road to Bickleigh Castle on a very sharp hairpin and then the magic starts! The drive (or walk) to the Castle is through beautiful woodland and runs adjacent to the majestic river Exe. The harsh realities of modern life immediately disappear to be replaced by the tranquility, beauty and peaceful atmosphere of fairy-like, natural surroundings. Eventually the...

Bickleigh Castle offers a great place to stay if you want to go get away from it all, without any of the interruptions of modern life. The property is accessed via a sharp hairpin bend in the road and a single-lane track. I’d recommend passing the spacious main car park driving into the castle grounds to check in and unload...

What a fantastic place this is, something very different! We can thoroughly recommend! We stayed in one of the thatched cottages in the grounds which was amazing - so peaceful and quiet. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely in the conservatory overlooking the gardens. We also had a tour of the castle which...

Faerie tale, majestic and historic. This romantic and very real castle is a treat for romantics and historians alike. The staff and proprietors are both charming and eccentric in equal proportions, adding their own personal warmth to the castles hearth. Original paintings adorn the entrance hall, look out for the lecherous glance of King Charles as he appears to glare...
