NEGATIVE feedback first... we had breakfast one morning only and even though it was literally empty the waiting on staff were unorganised and it was a very poor service. We were sat next to the serving hatch where we witnessed the most unhygienic acts. The chef serving was getting all the orders wrong, bearing in mind its only cooked breakfasts. The waiting on staff was instructing him to do one plate at a time as he was messing orders up. Plates were being returned full of unwanted food. He was unhygienic and picking up tomatoes, sausages, bacon etc with his fingers and swapping it onto other plates. He served the eggs by spatula and his fingers. Then began cleaning with a spray and the spray was bouncing off the service and sprinkling all over the food. It took 20 minutes to order our breakfast even though the place wasn't busy. We ordered 2 teas which were apparently unlimited and I asked for sugar and was asked how much. I said a handful as it was unlimited tea and she said i know but you need to tell me the exact amount of sachets I would like. By the time the sugar had arrived my tea was cold plus she brought brown sugar after requesting white. We were advised to help ourselves to toast but we had no plates, butter nor cutlery so ended up with cold toast sat on the table. When we did eventually get our breakfast the orders were incorrect and I had to scrape half my breakfast onto my partners plate as he was missing half of his. We had up to 3 girls serving us and neither of them knew what the other was doing. It was absolute chaos and put us off going back especially with the chef serving using his fingers. On a POSITIVE feedback the hotel was in a perfect location, 5 minutes from the bus station, town centre location so literally stepped out of the door into town, co-op next door which was very handy, the rooms were clean, obviously due to covid 19 restrictions were in place and rooms were not cleaned nor towels changed. If you needed anything you just need to ask reception and they will give you extra toilet rolls, coffee, tea etc. Bedding was only changed in an emergency. Our overall stay was enjoyable other than the poor breakfast and service. I would definitely recommend but give the breakfast a miss. Would definitely stay again.

Staff in the restaurant and reception area are/were very friendly and accommodating. The room we checked-in was a double bed with shower bath tub and has the normal tea and coffee maker, stocked up with tea, coffee and milk. The bed and the layout of the room was very comfortable. We liked the night light above/behind the bed which had served as dim/relaxing light for people that are restless at night. Location is in St Helier pedestrianised shopping area near Cafes and Restaurants. We can't wait to stay there again.

Two of us have recently returned from a 4 night stay at the Charing Cross Premier Inn hotel in St Helier.

Throughout our stay all of the staff that we dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

We had a room on the second floor looking into the central courtyard area.

We had continental breakfast every morning in the pleasant 1st floor dining room with a good selection of food and drinks available.

We also had dinner one evening which we very much enjoyed with a starter of tomato and red pepper soup followed by gammon steaks with egg, chips and peas.

For dessert we both had the very nice sticky toffee pudding and ice cream followed by coffee.

We had a couple of beers and a few glasses of the house red wine which were all excellent and great value for money.

The room was cleaned on our request and we were able to exchange the towels for clean ones at reception when required.

The bathroom was well laid out and shower worked well.

For a four night stay we found the room lacking in sufficient storage for clothes etc with only a very small open hanging area, and one tiny shelf on one side of the bed,

We did not think the bed was very comfortable with a distinct slope and hollows in the mattress and the settee totally uncomfortable for sitting and a waste of valuable space, good only for putting the suitcase on.

The lack of a couple of genuinely comfortable chairs or a comfortable settee for sitting is a recurring problem with all Premier Inns that we have used.

The hotel is in a great location for the bus station, the main shopping area and restaurants and we enjoyed our stay in St Helier.

Stayed here for three nights last week. Taxi from airport to here was £15. The Hotel is only a year old. And is located on the high street with a coop supermarket under it and there is also a pharmacy straight across from it. U are about a 7 minute walk to the beach. And all the shops are right on your doorstep. Unfortunately due to Covid the restaurant was only open for breakfast so u couldn’t sit and have a drink or dinner. The vending machines also had no stock in them. But it was fine because the co-op was below. The room was spacious clean and tidy and had air condition. The bathroom just had a shower but again was spacious. Because of Covid no one would enter your room if u wanted toilet roll, towels or fresh sheets u had to go to reception and u would need to change your bed sheets yourself. The room had a hair dryer and a iron and ironing board was available from reception. The only negative was the bedroom had a double bed and only 1 pillow each when we asked for another two pillows we were told there wasn’t any so that was a disappointment. Had breakfast on the first day and the staff were all lovely and friendly. U made ur own tea and coffee and toast. It wasn’t the best breakfast would have liked more choice like cereal. U could get a continental breakfast but the only cereal u could get was weetabix. The juice With breakfast was apple and orange juice unfortunately it was warm which personally I don’t like. We found a lovely place called rosie’s for breakfast and u can sit outside so we went there for the remainder of our holiday. Would absolutely return for location and cleanliness alone.

We arrived on Thursday morning, check-in should have been available at 2pm but we were told that we could not check-in until 3pm because they were busy, we think it was due to the lack of staff.

When we did finally check-in we were told that the room would not be cleaned everyday; it was not cleaned in the whole three days we stayed, which we thought was not very good.

For breakfast you have to book a timeslot, so we chose 9am for our first morning. Once seated they take your order, what you actually get is a lottery. We did not get any cups for coffee or glasses for orange juice for 20 minutes, but did get the orange juice which came in a bottle. Some customers had got their cooked food but no cutlery. They would regularly get orders wrong, missing items. The next morning was not much better. They do not have enough staff, they are serving breakfast, working reception and on our last day the waitress we had for breakfast was cleaning rooms.

It is not all bad, the hotel is in the centre of St Helier just 5 minutes from the main bus station. The rooms are nice and quite with good beds.

I can honestly say this is the worse Premier inn that we have ever stayed in & I’ve been in a few!

We had an electric toothbrushes and my husband had an electric razor. There is no socket in bathroom or in the room to recharge these. When I asked reception if the had a 2 pin plug, I was told no & that I should buy 1!! Being I had 4 at home this was not the answer really, and why not have a couple in reception for customers. We were there a week and every morning we had to tell them if we wanted our room cleaned and replenished with coffee tea etc. Also told well they would try to get it done, try is not good enough if you don’t have the staff to cover then It’s your fault not the customers.

On the day before leaving our room cards stopped working & being we weren’t near the reception desk I found it quite tiring after a long day out having to go all the way back to reception to get new cards. Also wanting the toilet and was told don’t forget to follow the arrows and use the sterile machine, to which was empty, & being a woman of a certain age I found it quite insulting the way she spoke to me. I had my own sterile hand lotion I told her...And quickly rushed to the toilet.

I honestly think they are hiding behind the Covid-19 as they all seemed very vague about everything.

The hotel itself is located perfectly in the centre of town and looks very clean throughout but unfortunately, the room we had (228) smelt very damp.

When we got into the room, the waste paper bin had not been emptied so had to request some one to remove it which given the Covid issue, it was a concern as we had no idea if the room had actually been cleaned properly.

We got an apology for the bin issue but no confirmation that the room had actually been cleaned properly which we felt was unacceptable at this current time with Covid. To be sure, we went out to purchase antiseptic wipes to use on surfaces.

Whilst we mentioned the damp smell to the staff member in reception and asked if a room with a opening window was available, we were informed that no rooms have opening windows at all.

The staff member seemed to be aware that the room had a damp smell to it but no offer of alternative room was offered as they implied the rooms were all the same!

Not a great experience and we had no choice but to purchase a room air freshener to mask the smell which is not what we expected to do.

The room itself was ok but the sofa and bed I have to say looked to be a little tired and old and could probably do with a tidy up although it was comfortable.

The hotel as stated is very well positioned and close to many shops and restaurants

It was a real shame that our stay was spoilt by the constant damp smell so this perhaps needs to be investigated as we have never experienced this in any other Premier Inn?

Due to Covid, it continues to impact on the cleaning and servicing of the room and towels only changed upon request. Despite this, there is no reduction in the price of the room so wonder if this service cut will simply continue to save money in the future?

In summary, the position of the hotel is great but be aware that we were informed that no rooms had windows that opened. This in our view can give a claustrophobic feel to it and definitely has an impact on why it smells damp and surprisingly, would of thought this was required to air the room during a Covid pandemic?

First visited here in May 2019 when hotel hadn't long been open, all went well so returned in September 2019 when standards seemed to have slipped so this visit was to give them another chance which now unfortunately we feel was the last chance! Absolutely no complaints with any of the staff we encountered but they were just so stretched. We would have expected cleanliness to be spot on in the present times but unfortunately we found ourselves buying antibac wipes for the light switches etc and as rooms were only cleaned upon request we attempted to book a service after 2 nights to be informed 3 members of staff had called in sick so could we wait until the next day! Extra bedding, towels, coffee etc were all available at reception if you could be bothered to wait for somebody to appear. Hotel very well positioned for restaurants, shops and bus station.

Our room was very clean and a lovely size. The bed comfortable and the facilities within the room perfectly acceptable (many USB sockets). It was cleaned and tidied to a very good standard everyday.
The Thyme restaurant was not a satisfying experience. The staff were somewhat disengaged with what can only be described as an I don't give a **** attitude.
Before we had even ordered our food I overheard a gentleman saying to the member of staff to not bother with his food and left. Shrugging it off we waited a while to order our drinks. My husband and I were discussing whether to get a bottle of wine or just a couple of glasses and the girl just stood there uninterested until we made our decision of one large glass and see how I went. After she left our table I spotted an offer for two large glasses of wine and get the rest of the bottle free tucked behind the sauces. When she returned a while later with our drinks I said I would like to do the offer and she said she would have to find out if I could. She noted our order and was gone a while. Upon returning she told me I wasn't able to have the offer unless I purchased a further 2 large glasses as they had poured my glass from an open bottle. I declined this I can't understand why she didn't suggest it in the first place. Anyway when she returned with our starters she ventured over to another gentleman with his main course to which he was shocked saying he would really rather have the starter he ordered first before his main. This was returned to the kitchen where we could then hear raised voices with one of the women having it out with the chef.
When our mains finally arrived they came out undercooked (steak) and missing items such as the sweet potato bhaji. We were then given a menu for the sweets and as we were going to place an order for something the woman behind us said to the girl it wasn't what she ordered. The girl just responded with oh wasn't it? We decided to not bother and pop to the shop below for ice cream. The restaurant itself was very clean and large with only 7 - 8 of us eating. So I'm shocked that they didn't put a little more effort into us all eating in there. They did not have the excuse of being rushed off their feet. The food which was cooked was nice such a shame that the staff don't care.
We ate there again on our last of a 3 night stay as we had become very cold and wet during storm Ciara and just thought let's endure the restaurant for ease. Again the food was fairly nice but missing items again and the staff still creating a dull and awkward atmosphere. Such a shame as could be a really good restaurant with a change of staff perhaps.

We stayed at the Premier inn whilst attending a family wedding. The hotel is well appointed in St Helier, close shops, restaurants, attractions, and sea front. It is also only a short 5 minuet walk from the main bus station Liberation Station, making it easy to use public transport. We took the bus from the Airport to Liberation which took about 25/30 mins approx. and only cost £5.00 for a family of 4.
We had booked a family which was very spacious, clean and combatable. The room was lovely and it was nice that the children had proper beds to sleep in rather than 'camp style' There were 2 adults and 2 children staying in the room and even with the beds there was still plenty of space.
We were informed on check in that servicing of rooms was on request due to COVID, but we could request if we would like it. It was not required during our stay, but housekeeping/ front of house staff happily replaced towel and changed bins on request.
When we arrived our room was immaculate and fully stocked with all amenities required during our stay including plenty of towels.
We took breakfast in the hotel where there was a really good selection, hot and cold.
All staff we encountered during our stay were friendly, polite and helpful.
We would recommend the Premier inn to others visiting Jersey and would stay here again in the future.
