Spent three nights here end July while golfing in North West. It is a super hotel with excellent food and service. A hands-on owner, who does the cooking, gives it the feeling that you are a guest in someone's home. Rooms are spotlessly clean with beautiful views over the bay. Its a great central location to explore this beautiful unspoilt part of Ireland. The staff are very professional and friendly and add to the the pleasure of the stay. This hotel is a special little place and highly recommended.

A beautiful hotel located right on the northwest coast of Ireland. Rooms are absolutely charming. It's a very old school feel. The sun room is a terrific place to sit on a rainy day with great views of the surrounding Are and the Ocean. Parking is right out front. Breakfast was delicious.

We loved Stella Maris for its superb location and for the relaxed vibe that it offers its guests. We had a double room which had the best seaview - straight out across the bay and with glorious sunrises. The common areas are pleasant enough but the highlight is the large conservatory, which shares the sea views and is a great gathering point for guests in the evening.

Breakfasts were excellent, cooked to order. As others have commented, the lack of evening meals at present does necessitate a trip into Ballycastle or beyond to find somewhere to eat.

There are many beautiful walks nearby and although remote, this is a great part of the attraction

A very disappointing stay. This is not of 4-star hotel standard, more an overpriced B&B at €185. for a double room with breakfast. A lot of the furniture was dingy and needed replacing. We arrived starving to find there was no option to have lunch and had to leave to go to the village to eat. After a long journey on a hot day, this is really unacceptable for 4-star accommodation. The room was fine but there were no tea/coffee facilities and no safe, again, not 4-star. The breakfast was very good but the evening meal, although lovely was very overpriced considering the restaurant is dark, dingy, outdated with no atmosphere. The menu had very limited choices and the bar did not have anything on draught. Tables did not have table cloths, the view from the window I had was a wall. Considering one of the reasons I booked the hotel was the fabulous location overlooking the Atlantic ocean I was disappointed to find that on one of the hottest days we were sitting in a dark room. The conservatory has spectacular views but resembled my granny's house, will dingy furniture and a musty smell.

We had a really lovely stay in the Stella Maris recently. The hotel is in a great location along the breathtaking North Mayo coast. Our room was everything you could hope for, being spacious with lovely views, a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. The highlight of the hotel is the large conservatory overlooking the bay with a view of Downpatrick head. Breakfast was delicious and the owner and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We highly recommend the Stella Maris Hotel and will definitely be back. Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality!

This wonderfully-located small hotel overlooks a beautiful bay to the mountains beyond. You can sit in the warm, bright conservatory and admire the view. The whole hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard and bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and welcoming, combining all modern necessities with some classic features. Decor thoughout the hotel is elegant, with some beautiful colours chosen to complement the well-chosen furniture. It all comes together with the warm welcome from the team to create a great atmsophere.

This place is beautiful, spotlessly clean, the breakfast was gorgeous, the host was lovely and welcoming. This house is in a stunning location and a great base to explore North Mayo. The beds were so comfortable and the en-suite was lovely. Tea & Coffee making facilities would have been nice but not sure if it was just because of their excellent commitment to COVID regulations that they were not provided.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful location, we had a lovely stay.
The house is overlooking beautiful Dun Briste/ Downpatrick Head. Very close to ceide fields and it's beautiful cliffs.
Role and the staff were very helpful.
Tastefully renovated.
Pays to think about where to dine for dinner as the closest town, Ballycastle has limited dining options in the evening.
We will be back.

I had a fantastic stay and I really enjoyed the experience. Rolf and his staff are amazing people and contributed greatly to a magnificent stay. The hotel is unique and full of character and charm set in a stunning area on the Atlantic coast. The sea views from the hotel are absolutely breathtaking and will live long in my memory. The food and hospitality were first class and greatly contributed to a very relaxing time and the warmth and generosity of Rolf and his staff greatly enhanced what was a truly an outstanding few days and a very beautiful experience.

Stella Maris is a beautiful large historic building (that used to be a convent) with stunning views overlooking the sea. Frances, the owner, is wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. She made us coffee (with cake and biscuits) on arrival and cooked a lovely breakfast the following morning.
The room was spacious and the furniture was in keeping with the age of the building. The building is quite remote and a couple of kms from Ballycastle along a country road.tge bed was comfortable abd we had a lovely nights stay
