Welcome to the Achill Sound Hotel, or in the Irish language, Ostan Gob A'Choire. Peter and Loretta Connaughton, and all of the Connaughton family, assure you a famous warm welcome to the friendly and relaxed Achill Sound Hotel. The hotel is located just over the bridge from the mainland, and in the heart of Achill Sound, the main Achill village. Close to the village shops and amenities, the Achill Sound Hotel is one of the most popular hotels on Achill Island. For nearly a century we've been offering affordable accommodation, great home-cooked food from our bar/restaurant and the ideal location for exploring Achill and the surrounding areas. We are a family hotel and add a personal touch to brighten your stay from all the family and staff. Enjoy a pint in the bar, share a song or a story and feel part of the family and the village. We have a range of double, single, twin and family rooms to choose from. All rooms have TVs, and are en-suite. From here in Achill Sound you can also explore the rest of the beautiful island with its stunning Atlantic vistas, towering mountains, cliffs, unique plants and animals, intriguing and sad history, cosy pubs, safe and scenic bicycle greenway all the way from Westport, and perfect blue-flag beaches. At once windswept, barren, wild, lush, rich and beautiful. An adventure seekers dream, or a quiet Irish paradise to escape the busy world. Come visit Achill. The hotel has plenty of safe and free parking as well as storage for bicycles and packed lunches for exploring the island.

We were the early to bed...early to rise group from America.....we were welcomed to Achill Sound by the owners Peter & Loretta...after a long trip....Peter helped us with our bags to our rooms.....which we enjoyed to rest in the comfort of our rooms ...which included a heated water pitcher to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee...with a basket of these to choose from.....a small bathroom but it was fine ..there was also a hairdryer that they provided...and daily clean towels ..and they also made the bed daily....the houskeeping were very helpful......each morning there was a continental breakfast provided....and hot tea..& hot coffee.....with toast and Irish Soda Bread...in a quaint dining area.......In the evening we would enjoy a delicious prepared dinner from a menu....where euros were used to purchase dinner.. .and delicious tasting desserts......and you can't pass up a pint or Irish Coffee.......and there was music and singing....by those who stopped by and the guests.....Peter shared the history of the family owned hotel...all he spoke of was interesting trivia about Achill that we never would have known.....The hotel is very close to Our Lady Queen of Peace House of Prayer we could easily walk to daily.... We enjoyed our trip to Achill.....Thank you Peter & Loretta

We called in here on a Sunday (2 adults and 2 kids) and got a lovely welcome and we're seated in a quiet area of the bar. We ordered two roast beef dinners and children's chicken nuggets and chips. Good food and drink and excellent service. I'd highly recommend this bar.

The Achill Sound Hotel is in a great location to explore Achill. It has a Super Value , chemist, small shop and art gallery/shop beside it. The hotel is very moderately priced and good value for money. The room was clean and had a good shower. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the dinner menu was very tasty and inexpensive. The staff are very friendly and the owner would talk the legs off a chair . He gave good tourist spot advice and was always polite and friendly

Small family hotel. Owner would talk for Ireland whether you want to hear hm or not. A lot of negative signs in toilets. Buy something if you are not a resident. “We are a small family hotel & help us pay our bills etc. Toilet Report: Very dated and terrible signage Pricing: fair Recomendations to Owner: stop annoying customers. We went on a day trip to Achill Ireland and stopped at this hotel for morning coffee. This hotel is very dated and needs a serious face lift. The coffee was from a machine and not good. The scone was stale (possibly from the day before) The bathrooms were like an outhouse and had a sign informing that they were for customers only and not a public convenience as the business was small and family owned. I would recommend avoiding

Thank you Peter and all his family and staff. The hospitality was above and beyond. You made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent. This was the best real food on my two week holiday trip from Wicklow to Achill. I wish I had found as many premises that care about what is served to their customers . Well done for all your efforts. My little girl loved it and our group of four easily agree it was the best ending to our staycation. I would highly recommend a visit. I would definitely return.

The place needs a serious overhaul... if the overpriced below average food doesn’t make enough money sell the place and let someone else bring it into modern times. Useless WiFi, TV’s from 1985 in each room, smell of damp everywhere...the lost goes on. Achill was scenically beautiful but the place needs about 15-20 decent places for food as it’s abysmal.

Shocking to see the manager wear his visor up on his forhead as he came to take the order. Only one waitress wearing a mask complete lack of customer protection. Food average. I can only say I will never return
