Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Anvil is a beautiful property that takes service standards to a whole new level. I received the warmest of Achill hospitality throughout my stay in the utterly spotless surrounds of the Anvil. The location is excellent, the beds very comfortable and the shower was just what I needed after long days of exploring the area. This is a five star B&B at prices that are very modest. So impressed with the stay that I came away with a return date in mind.

A fantastic bed and breakfast. First of all it is new. The rooms are spacious with every comfort, there is television , even a kettle with everything to make coffee or tea. The place is so quiet , the bathroom is big and really nice, there are dark curtains that are necessary here in Ireland in the summer that daylight comes very early in the morning. The breakfast was fantastic, there was everything from fruits , croissants, typical Irish breakfast, etc. The ladies are really very polite and kind. If you visit Achill’s this is the ideal place to stay. It is like a 3- to 4- star hotel in a bargain price ! It is located close to the bridge and the market, just a few minutes away on foot.

Nice good looking rooms, with clean bathroom- shower. Place is good looking and tidy. Outside there is a place for a picnic or barbeque. Cosmetics in the bathroom. Good parking space. Close to the town.

Stayed at Anvil House for one night. Location was prefect in a very quiet area and within walking distance of shops, pubs and cafes. Breakfast was absolutely great - full cooked breakfast and a choice of cereals and fruit. The room was really nice and the beds super comfy. Would say here again.

We stayed at Anvil House for two nights (14th/ 15th April 2018). Beautiful, spotless accommodation; feels more like a 5 star hotel than a B & B.  Lots of space, lovely dining room and lounges for guests to use. Spacious, classically decorated room; very calming and quiet. Everything worked well, shower very good and lots of space in the bathroom.  Best pillows I've ever slept on in a B & B.  Breakfast was plentiful and very well prepared (cooked breakfast, lovely Irish soda bread/jams/butter, juices and great fresh coffee). The vegetarian cooked breakfast is very good.  Katherine and her daughter couldn't have been more welcoming. Close to ameneties and safe, off road parking. We would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Achill Island.  Thank you! Gaynor  Doyle and Sam

Stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend for an event on the Island. We have stayed in many high rated hotels over the years, but we would class Anvil House 5☆ as good or better than a hotel. The rooms were big, warm with flat screen tv, tea & coffee making facilities and a huge un suite. The breakfast was the biggest we ever seen! It was amazing! The owner & her staff couldn't do enough for you. Without a doubt will book Anvil House again.

Anvil House has more the feel of a hotel rather than B&B, with best qualities of the both. Clean and spacious, my room has offered a good rest. The owner was very helpful. The breakfast was just amazing, with a lot of good coffee. Had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone.

The house is quiet, well laid out and the room was very clean and confortable...and the breakfast will fill you for the day. One tip: you are at a walking distance to a pub called McLoughlin's and it is worth a visit and try the local Achill beer (4.3 degrees so be prepared!). All in all, great.
