We just spent 2 relaxing nights here and loved it.
The staff were great.
The food both dinner and breakfast were of a very high quality.
We had a lovely large room on the ground floor overlooking the gardens . We had a fireplace which was set every night which really added to the atmosphere.
It's old style but we loved that and the fact that it is so relaxing.
On our first day I took a skid on a walk ending up covered in mud.
On my return a kind member of the management on seeing my dilemma insisted on ensuring my clothes which included jacket and gloves etc were washed dried and returned to my room immaculate even though they dont usually provide laundry service . Such kindness is very touching and just an example of the wonderful service .
Hunters hotel is a special place
We hope to visit again soon.

Really enjoyed a super relaxed overnight stay here recently. This coach house is really quaint and is like stepping back in time. We had no issue finding parking, and there is an overflow car park if needed. We arrived on a glorious sunny Saturday morning to absolute silence, peace and tranquility – just the antidote to the pandemic madness that we have all encountered since 2020. Check in was promptly handled and our room was just gorgeous. It was clean and comfortable with old fashioned charm. It overlooked the beautiful gardens and the windows were framed by beautiful blooming climbing flowers. Bathroom was well stocked and had decent sized fluffy bath towels – the ones that envelope you, not the postage stamp sized ones masquerading for bath towels in hotels these days! There was a large walk-in wardrobe, and bottled water. TV was very small but in a place like Hunters why would you want to watch the television. Took a walk in the gardens before dinner, what a joy to behold and the vegetable garden is superb. We were delighted with the sheer numbers of wild birds that you just don’t see in the city. You have to visit ‘Wilma’ – the lady scarecrow in the garden. Well equality has meant that girls do the same jobs as boys … right?? Dinner was excellent from beginning to end, followed by a completely undisturbed peaceful night’s sleep. Breakfast next morning was cooked to order, and we were again entertained by a myriad of birds feeding from the nut feeders right outside the window. Just before leaving, we had a look in the Hunters Hens enclosure – have a look there are the chickens and the mother duck with her baby ducklings, they are so cute! What’s not to love about Hunters?? It’s pricey, but worth it, particularly for a special occasion. The place is just beautiful and staff are lovely. We will definitely stay again some time. Just one thing before finishing, at checking out time there was an option on the credit card machine to leave a tip – this really isn’t good and puts guests under pressure. We have seen this several times in restaurants, but this was the first time we have come across it when overnighting somewhere. There is a notice at the desk saying that tips are shared out amongst staff, but we would prefer to give a tip in cash personally to staff for good service.

Very warm reception from all of the staff. The house itself is full of character and charm. The rooms are generously sized, the bed was unbelievably comfortable and the shower was perfect, consistent temperature 👌👌. Breakfast was good and the service outstanding.

Haven't been here in years so out for a drive and decided to pop in for some Sunday lunch.
Everything about the place decor and menu was like stepping back in time of about 20 years this didn't put me off and ordered of a very limited menu
My starter of smoked trout salad arrived so quickly I guessed it must have been already plated up I was right as when going to the ladies the kitchen door was open and a table full of starters were plated up.It was just OK nothing special my mains of roast beef didn't get any better average I have never seen cabbage such a strange colour nearly yellow Yorkshire pudding was good.
The dessert again served in record time was a chocolate tort which was lovely served with a put of coffee which wasn't great
I don't think it would be somewhere I would rush back to
Will say covid friendly disposable menus and hand sanitizer on entry and every table

We have visit Hunters regularly over the years. It was always really good. The lady of the house was such a wonderful lady. She passed away sadly after many years of working hard to keep Hunters going. There was another lovely lady at the desk who was so helpful and made us feel so welcome. She appears to be gone now. We went there for my birthday last Friday and Saturday. It was very disappointing to say the least. The room was not ready when we got there. That was ok. We sat in the garden while the room was being readied. My daughter in law had been on to Hunters by telephone to make sure I got a card from our grandson and a bottle of wine. This was not in the room. When they rang us to see if the wine was good we were very embarrassed to say there was no wine. My husband went to see what had happened he was told there was a bottle somewhere and they would look after it. Eventually the bottle of wine arrived. The meal menu was limited. But all was well for us. The next morning my breakfast was under cooked. We went out for the day and on arriving back the room had not been not cleaned. When I brought this to the attention to one of the staff she said she would look into it. As I walked around the garden I heard this voice calling out I wondered if it was for me. There were other people in the garden at the time. The staff member told it was my fault that the room was not cleaned as I had not put a note outside the door to have the room cleaned. Also I came too early to the Hotel on the Friday - that is why the room was not ready. All my fault. I was very upset by this attitude as we had not been informed that it was necessary to leave a note outside the door, and the fact that our key was at the desk should have been sufficient indication that we wished the room to be cleaned.
I was informed that it was now too late for any cleaning. We decided, sadly, to leave and return home.
I am saddened that the high standards that I have experienced in the past now appear to have slipped.

As always a most enjoyable luncheon with very friendly staff. For over 50 years we have been coming to lunch to Hunters. I remember pre Covid that tea or coffee was included in the set lunch. Now if a table of 4 for lunch has a cafetière is requested a charge of 16€ would be charged. 4€ per cup of coffee after such an enjoyable lunch is a bit excessive. Great however to be back at a location we have so many fond memories of.

This is the most wonderful place to spend an atmospheric night away. The hotel is full of old world charm- beautiful rooms with old furniture, wooden shutters and very cosy beds. We sat by a fire for tea, scones and wine, followed by a superb dinner in a beautiful dining room. Breakfast was another absolute treat with fresh eggs from the hens roaming around an enclosed yard. We had a very enjoyable stroll around the gardens, including the vegetable garden. All the staff (and not just one or two of them) were amazing, warm and helpful, and couldn't do enough for us. My elderly aunt felt like she'd away for a week rather than a night! I will be back.

I just had a lovely Saturday night away with a girlfriend at Hunter's. We went to eat, and we were not disappointed. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and full of herbs and vegetables just outside the window in the gorgeous gardens. Loved all the staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Even as we were leaving our room a lovely man changing the fresh flowers asked if we enjoyed ourselves and thanked us for staying. We were extremely happy to do it! This is not a hotel to party in and kids would be extremely bored - this is where you come to switch off by sitting in the garden, having a lovely meal with good company and a decent's night rest before eating like queens at breakfast. I feel completely relaxed after my stay and what is better than that?

Oh, I cannot recommend Hunter's enough. Genuinely one of the most incredible stays I have ever had in Ireland. We were greeted by Margaret, who was so hospitable and kind. She gave us a quick tour of the hotel and said that they would look after us - just what you want to hear when you go away for a break. The weather was fantastic, so we really got to appreciate the garden for all it's worth. Full of beautiful trees, flowers and fruit. All the guests seemed so content and relaxed - this is the overall vibe of Hunter's. The staff were great craic and again, looked after us so well. The hotel itself is a vintage lover's dream, but does not feel old. I believe another reviewer described it perfectly as a complete time warp . The food was absolutely fantastic and the breakfast was really tasty - fresh fruit from the garden was a treat and the hot breakfast was not greasy at all, like most hotel breakfasts and you could tell it was made with care. If you want a break away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Hunter's is the perfect little getaway.

Fabulous hotel, such character and pure old fashioned quaintness. It's a gorgeous place and so authentic. I really loved the history of the building. It all cosy inside, the bar, the sitting room the lovely little breakfast/dining room. The whole place has a special feel to it and the staff are all so kind and polite too and very helpful. It's a small hotel so the menu is limited but we didn't find it a problem , what was there was fabulous . The food was amazing. I loved that you could have a posh dessert or something as simple as some strawberries and cream. I asked for a small taster of cheese instead of a full cheese plate and they brought me exactly what I wanted with a few crackers and grapes. Yes, they have limited staff because it's only a small place so you may have to wait a little longer for things but how bad is that in such a lovely place. Some reviews said it was cold and as the weather was wet and windy I expected the worst but it was fine. Fires in the bar. Radiators on in the rooms. Perfect for me and I'm a cold fish. So why did I only give 4 not five stars? For the same reason I cannot go back sadly, I have a fear of spiders and this place is the oldest coaching Inn in Ireland so what did I expect??? I saw none downstairs although I didn't actually look but we did get a few in our bedroom and bathroom which meant that I got very little sleep but that's my problem . The garden are wonderful, we we're so sad not to be able to sit out there. I really loved it and I'm sure you would too.
