While the building could use some updates the staff were above and beyond excellent. We were able to arrange for dinner reservations and get advice on transport for the next part of our journey from the very warm, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Our rooms were very clean as were all the common areas.

Glendalough hostel is one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The only bad thing was how cold it was in our room so best to pack an extra blanket or two. Otherwise it was perfect and had everything you could need.

Glendalough hostel was very nice. Staff nice especially blonde lady on reception. Good facilities. Clean. One little thing, mattress a bit hard. However that is the only negative. Great location for walkers

I cycled from Dublin to Glendalough yesterday which was nice but tough, a lot of hills. I arrived at Glendalough Hostel at about 6 pm, everything went smoothly ... friendly receptionist, clean and comfortable surroundings and a lovely location. I ate at the nearby Glendalough Hotel which was good (old world, Victorian, lots of famous, including royal, guests) but perhaps better and cheaper, to have cooked in the hostel which has a spotless kitchen and nice dining area. Purchase your groceries in Roundwood, 12 km from Glendalough. The numerous walks in Glendalough are well signposted and vary from easy to difficult; walks info in the hostel. An overnight, or a few nights, at this hostel is recommended.
