Detailed Reviews
The hotel had just re-opened for overnight guests. This was our first weekend away for months. Actually quite nervous about even going away, but staff were friendly and welcoming while being attentive to social distancing and wore masks or visors at all times. So we felt very safe the whole time. The dining room and drawing rooms did not feel crowded and it was easy to keep a suitable distance from other guests. The food was as good as I remember from a previous visit and there was a reduced, but very reasonably priced wine list. We had a beautiful, spacious room and if you're looking for a weekend break I can only highly recommend.

My wife, daughter, myself and our dog have just returned from a marvellous two night stay in the beautiful Rathsallagh House Hotel where we felt safe, relaxed and were well looked after by the brilliant friendly, professional staff and owners. From the initial greeting from Jonathan as we arrived and all weekend until the cheery goodbye from Barbara as we left (and not forgetting the wave from Joe Snr), we felt at home there. After a hectic few weeks, two days wandering through the walled garden,
grounds and woodland lane on the
premises meant that all stressses
and tension were cast away. Top that with a sensational room and the most mouthwatering and beautifully prepared food for breakfast, lunch and dinner left a warm glow in all of us. Since C19, hotels and restaurants and seeking to cope with the many regulations and whilst these were all strictly obeyed and evident they did not detract from the warmth and friendliness of all involved.
Looking forward to out next visit and hopefully the wonderful cavery will return in the

Highly highly recommend this venue! A big thanks to Catherine and team - absolutely everything form start to finish was just fantastic, not only is it one of the most beautiful venues I've ever been in, with amazing food, backdrop, stunning bedrooms, location, exclusivity, but the staff are just outstanding - from early stages of planning, to the menu tasting experience, to the support in the lead up to the big day, and to the level of attentiveness on the day itself truly was exceptional. They have an amazing team out there and could not fault them. On the day itself the staff checked in with me throughout the day to ensure we were happy with everything, if we wanted any food/drink (as we were very busy talking to everyone) they were willing to jump in and get us anything we needed. they really have this whole business down to a tea, and would recommend them highly to anyone. And to top it all off, the day after the wedding one of the staff members dropped off all the lost and found from the night to us in our house which was about a half hour away. They made you feel like it was your home for the day, but equally made sure you didn't have to ask for anything. Thank you so much to the team!! I really hope I will get to attend another wedding at this venue as a guest in the future so i can experience it again!

Myself and my husband stayed here for 1 night in February 2020 as wedding guests. We stayed in the Eagle Lodge, which is less than a 5-minute drive from the House. Our room was very big, clean and with a comfortable bed. The breakfast which was served in the main House was delicious with lots of choice. Rathsallagh House itself and the grounds are stunning. The food served during the wedding was outstanding too. We couldn't fault it. We had booked the Gate Lodge but were moved to the Eagle Lodge and I wasn't aware of this at check-in. When I was handed the keys to Eagle Lodge and pointed out that we had booked the Gate Lodge, the lady at reception told me that this wasn't correct, even though I had an email to show it. We were happy to stay in the Eagle Lodge, so it wasn't an issue for us. However, telling a customer that they are wrong (when it wasn't the case) was a little condescending. When we checked out the next day, it was confirmed by a different lady at reception that we had in fact paid for the Gate Lodge and we received a refund for the difference, so I was glad that the matter was cleared up efficiently. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and thoroughly enjoyed the wedding.

Rathsallagh House reminded just how beautiful the Irish countryside really is and the commanding charm and exclusivity to our bespoke and unconventional event to remember.
It is indeed a very special place where we as a couple were able to stamp our personal taste, details and styles.
Our wedding was about so much more than me / Noel and Colm saying “I do.” It was a two days with friends and families. A celebrations of very diverse communities and clans.
It was definitely a great start to hold our wedding moments in Rathsallagh House where we celebrated it with pure, spontaneous joy of the proceeding of the days with noted perfections.
Everyone in Rathsallagh were committed to us, we met them with the most effervescent smiles and genuine Irish hospitality—a reflection that everyone valued their work and it naturally reverberated into fun , easy and most-relax venue like our own homes for two days for our guests and it became third, then we loved it so much we stayed fourth! We love receiving the attentions and even hugs— it meant a lot for us!
Rathsallagh House is an epitome of natural Irish charm and style, distinctive rural, picturesque, refreshingly bucolic, dreamy we called our wedding “Falling in love at Rathsallagh”
To our Rathsallagh wedding team to Joe, Joe’s mum, Andrea, Stephen, Aoife, Louise , Sandra,Catherine,Rosemarie, Benny, Samran, probably we forgot so many names, our apologies! and especially to our number 1 Wonder Woman Olivia and again to all the amazing staff thank you!
Everything was smooth as velvety! Your attention to details we truly admired. Mind you our attention to details are so precise that you have outdone everything. Thank you for giving us the best time and thank you for looking after us all.
You made our days more than what we desired. We are glad and destined to share the memorable experience. —Officially a Rathsallagh grooms.
The smooth booking and check-ins, the opulent and rooms that so full of characters, the top notch services, the cleanliness and high standard, beautiful fairways, food on both of the days were presented very very well and tasted so good that everyone still talking about Rathsallagh.
You even went beyond by gluing together my guest shoe and fixing my tables, and decorating the drawing rooms for day two.
Kids were having off- the menu pastas and the second helpings …oh our happy tummy!
The only thing that we do not like was to leave Rathsallagh… in our hearts you all are big part of our happiest day. We thank you for all your wonderful team. We will never forget!
To all the couples looking forward on their big day, enjoy your planning and enjoy every moment!

Rathsallagh House has teamwork in spades. The management is always visible and in touch with the Waiting Staff, the Catering Staff, the Bar Staff and everybody else working there. It is friendly and effective teamwork between every person working there. Your immediate impression is that everybody enjoys and wants to work there. The friendliness is not over-bearing; it is genuinely good and sincere.
Food is excellent and there is plenty of choice in the menu at weddings. Service is excellent and the food is beautifully prepared and presented. The food is served promptly and by smiling staff and tables are cleared when needed.
The bar staff are efficient, friendly and want to help you. Every drink is prepared as it should be and the cleanliness of the whole bar is excellent.
Our room was excellently decorated and the lighting was soothing. The pictures on the wall demanded notice and even in the breakfast there were paintings for sale. An electric kettle and a coffee making machine were provided along with plenty of tea and different types of coffee and some biscuits.
The courtyard is magnificently well kept and there is plenty of parking space. There is even and old tractor with a plough to remind us of older times. The grounds are magnificent and the adjoining golf course is well manicured.
When you are at Ratsallagh Country House you know you are in a magnificent location especially for weddings. You look around at the beautiful greenery of the fields, hedges and trees. It's raining, but you don't care. It's the Sound of Silence available in abundance.

We had our wedding in Rathsallagh on 9th December 2021…. Our 3rd date!!
We first viewed the venue in summer of 2018 & with all of the changes we were a little bit worried we may not love it as much anymore… we were so wrong!!
Through all of the uncertainty and changes the whole team was absolutely amazing to deal with, a special mention to Catherine who was always so positive & did anything she could to help us!
We got married back in March during lockdown so we decided to have a short intimate ceremony in Rathsallagh. The granary was just so perfect. All of our family & friends said what a gorgeous setting it was.
Everyone had such a lovely relaxed time surrounded by the fires and lovely decor for our drinks reception, with mince pies & mulled wine as a winter treat!
From start to finish the staff on the day were phenomenal… each and every guest could not stop raving about the food & the service!
The bridal prep room is such a gorgeous space to relax and get ready on the morning & they even have a new area for the groom & groomsmen to chill & get ready, which we loved!
We genuinely have absolutely nothing bad to say about any aspect of our day, the venue, the staff, the food, nothing!
We were so relaxed and everything ran like clockwork.
Honestly, we had the most perfect day and it was absolutely worth the wait, we even managed to get out to that amazing tree before our reception for some photos!
Thank you again to everyone at Rathsallagh for making our day so so perfect!

Our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for and more, in no small part due to the exceptional organisation and dedication to high quality service at Rathsallagh House.
We were really impressed by every aspect of the wedding preparation (including two postponements due to Covid restrictions). The Wedding Team were very accommodating and responded quickly to any questions we had in the lead-up ensuring there was no stress.
We also felt very at ease on the day thanks to the great communication and attention to detail from the wedding team.
Many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the flow of the day and that they were never hungry or thirsty and really enjoyed the quality of the food and wine that was served.
Several of our guests have been in touch again since to reiterate these compliments and express just how good a venue Rathsallagh House is for weddings.
As we had a Civil ceremony and photography on site, Rathsallagh was the complete package for us and we have absolutely no regrets. It meant that once we and our guests arrived, we were taken care of and could relax for the day, which was exactly what we were aiming for. It also meant that we got to spend as much time as possible with our guests and the intimacy of Rathsallagh House as a private venue is perfect for this reason.
Our guests that stayed the night were delighted with the spacious rooms and raved about the breakfast the following morning!
Suffice to say the wedding team certainly did their best for us and we and our guests enjoyed our Wedding Day at Rathsallagh House immensely.
We would happily recommend Rathsallagh House as the ideal wedding venue.

We can’t speak highly enough about Rathsallagh House as a wedding venue. It exceeded all of our expectations and two weeks later we are still on cloud nine. They provided exactly the vibe we wanted for our wedding, in a gorgeous venue, coupled with an outstanding staff, great food and service and sound advice and help along the way.
When we started looking for a venue, the first place we looked at was Rathsallagh House, we loved it immediately, mostly because of the staff we met while we were visiting, with first among equals being the amazing Catherine who heads up the wedding team. Being fairly savvy consumers we couldn’t possibly choose the first and only place we had looked at, so we soldiered on and went to another 15 places in the South and South West, always comparing them to Rathsallagh House, the outcome was inevitable. We could have saved ourselves a lot of time and effort along the way by going with our initial reaction!
The real key to Rathsallagh House was and is the staff. From the owner Joe to the rest of the team, they are consummate professionals but beyond that they are full of heart as witnessed by the universal acclaim from our guests, all of whom stayed at the venue for two nights. Everybody mentioned how comfortable and well-appointed their rooms were and how they were treated like Royalty by the staff.
Throughout the process we received great advice and wedding insights from all of the team and their responsiveness to our questions and inquiries about every aspect of the wedding was prompt and welcomed. They also managed to keep us on track with timely reminders along the way. Their pricing model was very fair and there were no surprises when it came to settling the final bill. In addition, they have a list of recommended vendors from entertainment to flowers, cars, babysitters, photographers, videographers, churches etc. and we selected nearly all of our vendors from their lists; to a person we were delighted that we did.
The food throughout our stay was outstanding; from the welcome tea and scones through the night before buffet, the breakfasts (which our guests loved), the drinks reception in the gorgeous walled garden and the wedding reception itself. They took into account any dietary issues and we were served delicious food with perfection. The bar service was top notch!
Finally, I can’t finish without once again mentioning the amazing Catherine and her wedding team. She has worked there for years and has probably seen and hosted thousands of weddings but her enthusiasm and excitement for YOUR wedding is unmatched. Her ability to guide you during the process is peerless. We believe Catherine probably had something to do with the fabulous sunny weather we had on our wedding day as well. One expects a personalized service for something as important to the couple as their wedding and she leads a highly competent team that knows what they are doing and delivers it.
The bottom line is that if you are looking for a gorgeous venue with delicious food and a top notch, warm and friendly well-trained staff, look no further. Rathsallagh is that place!!

Last Saturday (11th July) we decided to put our toe in the water and take a one day break in Rathsallagh House to see what life was like after the lifting of lockdown. I have to say that I was quite apprehensive!!
However, this was probably our third or fourth visit and had very happy memories of previous stays.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed at reception and throughout our stay. We felt very safe and as Rathsallagh is a well spaced out premises we were well able to keep our 'social distance' from the other guests. All the staff wore face masks or visors.
Our room was superb (named Overarch) and both our dinner that evening and breakfast the next morning were up to Rathsallagh's usual exacting standards.
A stroll around the secret garden clearly showed us that a lot of love for and tending to plants and shrubs took place during lockdown - it was lovely.
We are looking forward to our next trip already.
Well done to the O'Flynn family on keeping up the high standards and perfect levels of attention.

Rathsallagh is not a hotel it’s a country house and all of the rooms are different in terms of size, decoration and configuration. There are also two Lodges as well at either end of the property . The bride and groom control the House so they will have decided in advance as to which room you are allocated. There is only one family room in the sense that it has two separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom its called the Kilbarry but you may not have been given that room. Your best bet is to contact the Rathsallagh team directly and ask they as to what room you have been allocated and what the configuration is.
Yes there was an iron board and iron in our room
There are arches and plenty of trees to use for cover and can be used for spectator photos
I am unsure as did not request adjoining rooms however if you contact the hotel directly they will help you as they are so efficient and friendly
