We spent a wonderful night and day at Clonganny – everything from the welcome when we arrived to the beautifully appointed room where no comfort was not provided to the superb dinner that we had and excellent breakfast marked Clonganny as a very special place, a true hidden gem. There was an exceptionally high standard of safety and hygiene without once feeling intrusive. A wonderful team of staff who couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a special stay. Looking forward to returning as the winter rolls in.

Clonganny House s a idyllic retreat for adults only who are looking for a luxury short stay in the south east of Ireland. We scouted the place out with a woderful stay last year before booking this break with friends this year.
The Rooms are all totally resplendent we have stayed so far in two which in my opinion are the best called "Chambord and Cheverney " but all rooms are super you can't go wrong. Tip if traveling in summer for the best nights sleep do wear the eye masks provided as the early morning sun is very bright through the uncover skylights.
The Food in Clonganny House is cooked by Philippe and it is a splendid repast his style and balance across the meal is in my view magical. The wine selection is a good mix of affordable and more expensive French wines.
Our welcome was not quite what I expected. We did arrive at 3pm not knowing that check in time was 4pm . We had not read the Terms and Conditions. Our host Brona in greeting us made it very clear that while we were welcome 4pm was the official checkin time. Starting our break with friends this caused a little tension and our friends having to make a apology for arriving early was not a great start. Luckily it did not spoil our stay but does mean it will be our last.

Response from Brona Brillant, Owner at Clonganny House
Responded 17 Dec 2020
Thank you for your review. We are sorry if your early arrival caused tension. However, we do make it clear in our booking policies and, again, in the confirmation e-mail, that check-in time is from 4pm. As we highlight in this e-mail, the extra cleaning protocols that are in place require more time and it is for the safety of our staff and guests that we insist on the 4pm. check-in. I am sure you can understand this. Also, as you know, we are a small operation with just 4 rooms. Most of the time, we have no staff and it is just the two of us servicing rooms, preparing meals and dealing with guest arrivals and departures. This does not leave a lot of time for running errands etc.. In order to ensure we are here, ready to greet guests and available, we do request that guests do not arrive before the stated check-in time. We most certainly would not want you to turn up early and find we were not ready to answer the door or even at home! :-) We are glad you enjoyed your stay, despite this hiccup at the start, and we do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

If you are looking for an elegant and relaxing place to stay then this is the place for you, beautiful buildings, and spacious well-kept grounds. As soon as we walked in, we thought ‘wow’ and we knew we were going to have a great time. It’s an ideal location from which you can explore the surrounding areas including Wicklow with its beautiful shops and restaurants.
Around the court yard we had a spacious tastefully decorated ensuite bedroom which had lots of beautiful finishing touches and a large comfortable bed, so I had a really good night’s sleep. Breakfast is included and so it’s great value for money with a good choice of homemade granola, homemade yoghurt, full Irish breakfast and the Guinness bread which was amazing. It was all served in an elegant dining room. The Friendly welcoming host/owners Kevin and Karina ensured that we had everything that we needed.

Clonganny House is a charming place to stay and well worth a visit. It has been refurbished to the highest standard and is very tranquil. The rooms are exquisite and nice attention to detail, like chocolates, biscuits and little bags of lavender left for guests. We stayed for 2 nights and breakfast on both mornings were fabulous. We dined there on one evening and the food would rival some of the best restaurants we have eaten in. Surprisingly, it was prepared by the owners Kevin and Karina, neither of whom are trained chefs! A Five Star stay!

Wonderfull 2 day stay in Clonganny House, cannot speak highly enough of our visit.

The welcome from hosts Karina and Kevin.

The beautiful afternoon cream tea in the drawing room.

The wow factor of the house, grounds and the ensuite rooms in a courtyard setting which opened out into the walled kitchen garden.

Excellent location from where you can explore the area, we visited Wicklow goal, Wicklow heritage trail, Johnstown castle and Ballymoney north beach, there was so much more to do but we had only 2 days.

The fantastic breakfast each morning, extensive menu with most of the breakfast either homemade, fresh or locally sourced.

We were visiting friends locally each night and unable to avail of their dinner menu offering but had a nightcap in the the drawing room on our first night when we returned home, what a lovely way to end a day.

Kevin also assisted us by dropping and collecting us from friends our 2nd night, even though it was late.

The highlight of our stay were all the little touches that made us feel like we were part of the house and would genuinely recommend a stay in Clonganny house to anyone visiting this area.

Our expectations were high, but Clonganny managed to exceed them. The whole place has a dreamlike quality and a fantastic location in the peaceful countryside and near some of Wexford's most stunning beaches.
Our hosts took incredible care of us and provided delicious food - we were left wanting for nothing. We will recommend it to many friends and come back again.

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at this beautiful country house with comfy and well appointed rooms in a quiet location close to Dublin, 10 min from the beach and lovely walks in the area. Our friendly and welcoming hosts prepared exquisite vegan meals for dinner and b/fast. Highly recommend for a classy but relaxing break.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Clonganny House.
Our room in the courtyard was lovely. Bed was really comfortable. Tassimo coffee machine and pods in the room - but no kettle or tea.
Hot Breakfast was cooked to order - and there was lots of home made granola, fresh fruit and breads to enjoy.
Our hosts made us feel very welcome.
All was restful, quiet and peaceful.

Clonganny House is a beautiful property with Karina and Kevin as warm welcoming hosts. I recently stayed in the gatehouse which is ideal for a group or family wanting self catering. It was fully equipped and cosy with a log burner and electric blankets. It’s in a good location for sightseeing, recreation and dining.
If preferred a Breakfast buffet is available at the main house which is a short stroll away. there was an option for a full Irish. The home made granola and Guinness bread was amazing. Equally the quality and presentation of our evening meal was 5 star. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Just the loveliest of welcomes, after been shown to our room, a cream tea awaited us in the drawing room.
We stayed two nights and were given lots of local sightseeing and shopping tips. It was a very relaxing stay, and delicious set meals in the evening and the best cooked breakfast each morning, we would definitely go back.
Thank you, Peter & Sarah
