Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 4 nights. Loved everything about this hotel. Staff were very friend and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The food was lovely. The leisure centre very clean and the water lovey and warm. Will definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our weekend stay immensely. Staff very nice and so friendly. Food delicious. Rooms comfortable. Spa treatments excellent. And a very special thanks to Anthony O'Brien, Aideen and Sinéad who went above and beyond their call of duty to help us get one of our cars started just as we were preparing to leave. They came out in the pouring rain to help us get the car going and send us on our way. Rreally very thankful and grateful to them. The weekend was a great success. Everything was so lovely!

Mixed feelings on this hotel after our 2 night stay. Its a nice hotel, nice rooms and lovely staff. It is, however, not 4* standard. On arrival to our room it was very nice, decor is lovely. There was no soap or body wash in the bathroom. The bed was quite comfortable and we slept well. The meal from the limited menu in the Ivy bar was very nice on the first night, but not anywhere near as nice the second night. We could only guess that there was two different chefs there was such a difference! The breakfast was very average both mornings with burnt bacon, overcooked eggs, and definitely not fresh avocado. The “selection of pastries” offered on the menu instead of in the buffet was simply one type of croissant. The spa was the best part of the stay, its a lovely place with a fabulous relaxation room which I would highly recommend. In general a nice hotel, just not at all what you expect for a 4*. Aldi soaps in the reception bathroom pretty much summed it up.

First off , thanks to my wife's family..Trish, Bobby, Anthony and Trish...for the unexpected voucher covering us for a night at the hotel..First thing is that it was great to only need to drive for an hour or so from Waterford. First impressions created by the girls at reception was great...warm, friendly and welcoming. Before we went to our room we had a lovely cold beer in the beautifully presented and relaxing bar...Anthony ( I hope I have remembered right) a local gorey man was great craic , very helpful and made the couple of pints very enjoyable....we were hoping at this stage that the room would live up to the expectation....we weren't dissapointed, we had a lovely room overlooking the courtyard..the room was spotless and very comfortable...small suggestion...a feather pillow would have made it perfect...we're both old school and find it hard to get comfortable on foam pillows...the dinner was great and the restaurant expertly managed by Peter , a great guy and knows his job. The breakfast was lovely and again all the staff were very friendly and helpful....you get the impression that everyone actually likes working in the hotel and that makes for an enjoyable experience for us the customers. So all in all a great hotel with great staff, food and lovely rooms...have no fears if you're contemplating a stay. Well done to all at the Ashdown and thanks again We will see you again John

We availed of the overnight spa deal and couldn't fault any part of the experience. The staff are really attentive and friendly and felt well looked after. The spa suite is superb and again felt super-pampered. The evening meal in The Rowan restaurant was beyond what we expected for hotel deals. Food was excellent and service again was superb. I couldn't fault this hotel on anything, highly recommend a break away here.

Hotel Reception staff very welcoming. Housekeeping staff and in particular Sinead gave fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble for her. We love the restaurant. A bit disappointed at the inexperience of the staff on night one but when we went there the 3rd night of our stay, Peter looked after us really well. The night we ate in the bar was not good. Service was very poor. A number of people left due to waiting so long to be served. We complained to the Bar Manager but the complaint was handled badly. He was more interested in following us to our room to get the voucher for our dinner than listening to our complaint. When we went to the bar the following night he actually hid behind a pillar from us. Overall though the hotel is pleasant, very convenient for a stroll into Gorey town and a handy drive to Ballymoney beach.

Party of 20 family members..meeting for dinner....birthday celebration....all had dinner....starters ,mains, dessert ,drinks galore...beers,wines ,soft drinks...some driving...most staying in hotel.....after racking up a bill of 650euro....we were told that there would be an additional charge of 3.50 for cutting our own birthday cake....PER SLICE..what...our OWN cake....for 20 people...70euro extra for cutting a cake...which WE BROUGHT...the hotel which we regularly go to multiple times a year is lovely and staff are excellent...but this cake literally left...a real bitter taste in everyones mouth....there is a restaurant not too far from hotel...less than 10 mins walk..lovely food and drinks and atmosphere...I recommend going there and bringing your own cake to enjoy there...because when your asked to pay 3.50 PER SLICE...for your OWN cake...you will leave rather disappointed in the hotel

The staff were so lovely and friendly. Everyone we dealt with be it in the spa, reception , restaurant were all so nice and gave excellent service. Our room was gorgeous and our meals were delicious. My family had a wonderful 3 night stay in Ashdown Park Hotel recently. We chose the east coast as my brother and family were flying in from Canada and this was the perfect location. There was a big group of us and we were well taken care of. We had two dinners included, one dinner in the restaurant and one in the bar the following night. The food was excellent and we were all delighted to have two menus to chose from on our stay. We enjoyed a trip to Kia Ora farm as part of our hotel package. The service was excellent in all areas of the hotel; reception, restaurant for breakfast and dinner, the bar and the pool. The children loved the pool and the kids club. We had a great hotel experience and I look forward to returning in the future. I will definitely recommend to other families to go visit.

Cannot thank Emily and the staff enough at Ashdown Park Hotel for such an amazing weekend for my mums 80th Birthday! We had dad's 80th there 3 years ago too and the service was second to none! The staff could not do enough to assist us (a large group of 23), it's a fabulous hotel and I would highly recommend this hotel for some R&R and great craic! Thanks guys! Gill
