We stayed here for Valentine's Night and the Saturday night too. It's just gorgeous, with underfloor heating and a great stove in the living room and the kitchen and bathroom have all mod cons whilst retaining period details. Maro (the keyholder) was very patient as our arrival time kept changing due to weather conditions and showed us around the property and how everything worked. She also gave us a great tip for a walk - up to the towers outside Lismore - which was beautiful and fascinating. We didn't get to visit any restaurants or pubs in Cappoquin or Lismore but we did use the local taxi driver to head out to the Cliff House in Ardmore for a long lazy lunch in the bar there. This whole area is beautiful and I'm fairly sure we'll be back, would definitely stay in the Gate Lodge again. This was our second Irish Landmark Trust stay and we're already looking forward to another trip to one of their properties.

Had a wonderful time in this gem of Victorian architecture. The stove was well used as the weather was very chilly! Felt like a special place, the lodge has a personality of its own. Great places to visit nearby. Highly recommend.

Salterbridge is a restored gatelodge and is owned by the Irish Landmark Trust. It sleeps 2 adults (and a baby as we proved) and is a most unusual layout, being an octagonal shaped building. It has underfloor heating throughout, great antique furniture, a fabulous stove in the living room and some great old books to read. The property is 6km from Lismore and less than 1km from Cappoquin. It is a 15min drive to Dungarvan and there are a lot of walks / places to visit within a short drive of the gatelodge. There is no tv which is a plus and in keeping with the style of the place. It was a very relaxing weekend and great family time. There is a visitors book which is an interesting read, to see what the experience of others was. We had very contrasting weather - frost and then rain and wind but the lodge was comfy throughout and very snug. Our car battery went flat during our stay but the man across the road got us started in no time. Very friendly indeed. We couldn't fault the place.

Spent the long weekend there & found it very relaxing. Nice place, lovely fire. Recommend Richmond House for dinner (do book) & Foley's in Lismore. Another very good ILT property - and this won't be our last!
