We are just back from a mid week break in the Maldron Hotel. We had a fantastic stay, the rooms were large and the beds were extremely comfortable. The food served in the restaurant at night was excellent, a great choice with huge portions. We used the swimming pool during the day and everything was well organised and the changing rooms were spotless. We had breakfast each morning which was served by friendly staff who were very efficient and catered to our needs. Reception were very helpful at checkin and recommended local attractions. Will definitely return with my family.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night at the weekend this month. We have stayed in Maldron Hotels before and always found them lovely especially for the price, and the Maldron Portlaoise was no exception to this!

Our room was simple but clean and very spacious, the bed was really comfortable. We dined in the Grain & Grill restaurant - we were served by Joyce who was really friendly and helpful. I informed her that I am Coeliac and ordered the curry, so would not be able to have the poppadom. I was disappointed when I was then served the poppadom on my curry - this meant the dinner had to be sent back as any cross-contamination like that is dangerous for my health. I believe it was probably the fault of the kitchen, not the waitress! Joyce and another waitress were very apologetic and replaced my dinner very quickly so I appreciated this! It was a really tasty, filling curry. My boyfriend had steak and loved his, and we both had delicious strawberry daiquiris which we couldn’t believe cost only €10! The gluten free brownie we shared was also lovely.

Our breakfast in the morning was really tasty also, we felt very safe due to no buffet! Overall a pleasurable stay, the only annoyance was the dinner but the issue was rectified really quickly by the kind staff!

Dear aislingxo, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am delighted to read that you always find Maldron Hotels lovely for the price you paid. We pride ourselves on offering affordable luxury to all our guests. I will pass your comments to the kitchen team and Joyce who is indeed very friendly and helpful and a great asset to our team. Apologies regarding your order on the night but I am glad it was all sorted for you. Our cocktails are proving very popular with all our guests this summer so I am so happy you had a chance to taste the Strawberry Daiquiris. I hope you will get to sample more on your next visit. Thanks again for taking the time to review the hotel. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel very soon Sincerely Lisa Sinnott

Hotel is clean and modern , it is situated out of town off thr M7 , the leisure center is nice but you can only book 45 minute slots and the pool does get a bit crowded.
The only bar was in the restaurant and the outside seating area seemed constantly occupied.
It was nice to have a meal indoors, the service was very attentive and pleasant but the food was underwhelming.
The so called 10 oz. Steak on the menu was barely 4 oz and two of us ordered medium and got very well done, the salmon was nicely cooked but again small. The prices were not small.
The rooms had a double and single bed, minimalist furniture and small flat screen tv with Irish and some UK channels, the beds were firm but comfortable.
If visiting the area again I would be happy to stay hete but would venture into town to eat .
All staff were friendly and pleasant and we got a good rate .

Visited here with family needed two family rooms but was a mix up with the booking in the hotel, the receptionist wasn’t very friendly at all, obviously didn’t want to be there or deal with the issue. Went to the side office and came back out but said very little. Got sorted after rudely being told the room is not ready but to being given another room. (The comment of the room not ready was not needed)
Got to our rooms which were fine nothing fancy but clean, or room was set up for 5 which we didn’t need wile or other party’s room was set up for 3 which we needed while they needed the 5, called exception but nothing done (no extra bedding or attempt to get their room set up). The night team did bring up bedding after we called them.
The bathrooms need a bit of a updated while the shower water power was too strong and painful for kids.
Dinner was ok, bland menu, very expensive for kids but food was ok with breakfast being nice and lovely staff. Think she was a manager.
Over all nice hotel for a stopover but highly let down by the front office member of staff who did put a bad start to the stay.

We had a fantastic stay at the Maldron Hotel Portlaoise. We booked the bed and breakfast deal on iRadio breaks and it was great value for money. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was also excellent- such a great selection, and croissants etc. were individually wrapped. Safety measures were in place for Covid and were followed well.
We had dinner in the hotel on Friday night. The food was quite good and good value for money. Staff in the restaurant were also excellent.
Location wise, the hotel is excellent. It is situated on the same grounds as a large apple green and food court. It is also a couple of minutes drive to Portlaoise plaza, and only a 20 minute drive to Kildare village.
Overall we had an excellent stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

really glad to be staying at this great hotel again after the awful Covid lay off.
Rooms perfectly sealed and sanitised very friendly staff and the food is unbeatable.
Gotta give a shout-out to Theresa at Reception, the chefs, Piotr & Ana and in the restaurant itself Tommy, Shauna, Ausra and Lauren all who make my visits so pleasurable.

Stayed just one night in a family room while visiting family in the area. Check in was quick and efficient. My husband was unable to make the visit on the day so reception took €12...the price of breakfast off the room rate.

The room was a good size with a double and 2 single beds. Shower was good with plenty of hot water. There was quite a bit of noise from another room across the hall that night but not the hotels fault. We didnt use the pool on this occasion.

We had some drinks at the bar in the evening. All staff were friendly. Had a problem with the vending machine that night when i went to get water from it before bed. It took my money twice but didnt give me the water. Told the guy at the desk and he rang the bar to give me 2 bottles of water no problem. Breakfast the next morning was really good for a chain hotel... the hot food was hot and well cooked and there was everything on offer that you could want. Overall I was happy with the hotel and although I normally stay in the midland park hotel when i visit portloise I will definiately stay at the maldron again in the future.

Every time we stay in Maldron Portlaoise it is absolutely spot on! The hotel is immaculately clean and well decorated. The rooms are spacious and stylish, and the coffee machines are a huge added bonus. The leisure centre is amazing too, so clean! The food at dinner is always good and reasonably priced, and breakfast is good too. All of the staff are so helpful and friendly. They are a credit to the General Manager :)

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Faith and Niamh at the reception were very friendly and helpful all the time. The rooms were clean and big enough for our stay. The restaurant staff were amazing, a big thank you to the manager Ciara, Niamh, Shauna, Leonie and Joyce. They ensured that my daughter's allergy needs were catered for during our time there which made eating out relaxing. Kids enjoyed the pool which was very busy at times with limited availability probably due to restrictions in place. Will definitely visit the hotel again and recommend to friends.

We booked 2rooms here for a night last weekend, it was a last minute thing and we got a good rate.
The hotel is located just off the motorway and easy to find. There is a garage right beside hotel with a small food court that had Freshii, Chopstix, Subway and a cafe/crepe bar, there was also a shop there , all opened until 10pm.
The reception area was bright and welcoming and the receptionist efficient though not very friendly.
The rooms are a great size, there was a double and a single bed, the beds were very comfy. My only complaint bout the room was the heat, it was roasting which made sleeping difficult
We had the breakfast the next morning which was just ok,nothing special
All in all it’s a nice hotel and I would def stay again

No the hotel is situated at the side of M7 motorway - the grounds are simply a large car park. There’s an indoor leisure centre, cinema room though. And probably playground or play centre in Portlaoise town.
