Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here this week for a conference, the hotel is perfectly appointed for business guests traveling either by road or by train. I stayed the night prior to my conference and the room was exactly what I needed, comfortable bed, great Wi-Fi and the check in process was seamless, the bar and restaurant was comfortable and a great choice of fare at reasonable prices. The conference room next day was on the ground floor and everything one needed was provided. The coffee breaks were ideal and catered to everyone needs. The Carvery lunch provided as with the breakfast buffet was exceptional and I will definitely recommend. Overall the location, comfort and professional experience I had here makes me look forward to another visit whenever possible.

Fantastic food and staff in particular Daragh on bar, an incredible young man. He interacted with young and old. Our food was just amazing and hot. Definitely will stay again. We booked last minute and had a great night. Breakfast was just fantastic.

Hotel was exactly what we wanted, close to the main road, pool for the kids, excellent breakfast and adequate room. All staff were great. The midway food court was an unexpected surprise. Fuel station and coffee shop open from 6, coin op laundrette hooked onto the fuel station and various fast food options. The on-site restaurant looked good although we opted to go into ‘town’ Only moan was kettle in the room was unusable and double bed is very modest for two in family room.

Had dinner in the Maldron portlaoise; Ausra was our waitress. She was extremely attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough the kids. She gave the kids crayons and colouring pages. A great dining experience.

Staff here were great but …. the room was awful! We paid 180 to stay one night, in one room with our 14yr old son - who is classed as an adult. No breakfast included. The room was like an oven, the beds were rock hard - like sleeping on the floor! You can’t open the window because of the noise of the motorway which backs on to the building. There was a cheap fan in the room - but the noise of that was worse than the road! None of us slept, at one point we considered going out to the car to sleep. It was the most uncomfortable hotel we have ever stayed in! We were really disappointed as we had booked the hotel so we didn’t have to get up at 5am for our journey. We were awake all night instead!

Jamie the barman is an absolute gentleman. He was so kind to us. Went above and beyond to be helpful and was so courteous. A very valued member of staff. I hope the hotel management knows. He was a pleasure to deal with my children and took care of my mother very well.

Loved our stay in this lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel including the swimming pool and facilities. Food was lovely with a great variety. Staff were so helpful from the gentleman on reception to the restaurant staff and accommodation staff. Couldn't find fault with our stay. Close to lots of attractions and plenty to do. Great location just off the motorway. We will be back. Keelin in the restaurant was extremely helpful and friendly.
