Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at this lovely guest house when my daughter married on 28th December 2019.
Barney, Juan & Sue give an amazing service to all their guests and in my opinion should be upgraded to 5*. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there with so many personal touches, such professionalism, but most importantly Barney, who made all family and friends who stayed over at this time so welcome. Comfortable beds, soft linen, and the selection of food at breakfast time amazing, nothing was too much trouble. This Guest House is one of the best, so don’t hesitate to book in the next time you visit Westport in Co Mayo!

My wife and I often visit the area, and today had a lovely lunch in this ubber friendly establishment. My wife is an aspiring vegan and Nancy very kindly gave her a hand written receipt for their Pumpkin Dahl. Super setting, super staff, super food in this oasis of calm.

I had a fantastic stay at the Waterside Guesthouse, my room was perfect - it was so quiet as my window overlooked the river. Graignamanagh is such an interesting town with lots of historical interest. I had a 5 star breakfast the following morning in the sunshine, followed by a swim in the River Barrow. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Perfect for the solo traveller, couples or families.

Have been going to this restaurant for many years, but due to illness, I am now mobility impaired. We arrived for lunch without thinking that disabled facilities would be an issue, ordered lunch and began to eat. A few moments in, I asked where are the disabled toilets please, only to be told we have none. The regular bathrooms are up 2 flights of stairs and I was advised to go down to the Yacht Club public toilet down the road. We were shocked with no disabled facilities and with their general lack of interest really. After questioning another 2 staff members about facilities or if they had a staff bathroom on the ground floor available, We had no choice but to pay for our uneaten food and leave the restaurant ! My husband had to get the car outside, put me in and drive down to use the PUBLIC bathroom. If any premises in 2024 has NO disabled facilities available for customers then please have compassion and consideration for disabled people and install a ground floor bathroom or just a toilet at the very least. Not a very dignified situation to put any human being in. You never know when your own situation could change.

Visited the Waterside whilst out for a stroll around the village on a recent visit to Graiguenamanagh. We had a lovely lunch. Really nice outside area overlooking the river or quieter patio area to the rear - we chose the quieter patio area. The service was very friendly, relaxed but attentive. The food very fresh, tasty and really nicely presented, would definitely recommend and will return again.

Another couple and ourselves spent three nights in this wonderful stone inn. We loved the warm welcome from Brian and his staff, and the peaceful riverside setting with the picturesque canal boats moored along the banks. The breakfasts were varied and delicious (crepes, full Irish etc) and the staff very helpful. There was also a good little gift/book shop. Our only regret was that the restaurant is not open for dinner every night. This Guesthouse was one of best and most relaxing places we stayed during our holiday, with sights like Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny Castle and Woodstock Gardens nearby. The rooms are small but comfortable and the bathrooms ditto. Thank you, Waterside.

Enjoyed a one night stay in the Waterside.Guesthouse. I received a warm welcome from arrival from very friendly Manager and his team of professional and lovely staff. My room was large and overlooked the river - nice and quiet too. Tea and Coffee making facilities and a good telly available. Food for lunch was yummy and as weather was fab, I could eat outside. Breakfast was lovely too, coffee was great, and I would go back for the pancakes. Did I mention the yummy food lol
This is a beautifully restored 1800's building and is quirky and original in all aspects. which is why I chose it.
If you want super modern perhaps you should go to a chain hotel.

Stayed with family, beautiful location in town of graignamanagh, central to everything around, cafe pub, Barrow river. Hub of activity with canoe and bike hire to mention a few. lovely to dine in or out beside river watching the world go by. Professional, friendly efficient staff, owner Brian very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Bed and breakfast room double 2 single very clean and comfortable. Shower was like tropical falls, one of the best ever. Perfect for what we needed, we will definitely return. Very astute in adhering to hse guidelines on covid. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Have to throughly recommend this restaurant. Had a delicious plate of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. My sister had the full breakfast. Everything was so well cooked and full of flavour. The young staff were busy but most helpful and friendly. Lovely outdoor seating to front and rear of the building.
