Staying at the Osprey is always a pleasure and is exactly the place you need when travelling for business or for a premium personal break.

The bedrooms are always spotless, the restaurant serves some fantastic food and the bar provides a great environment to unwind and grab some drinks.
The Osprey also boasts a breakfast that's the best around with a full Irish to die for.

The staff are absolutely 5*, not only good at their job but just a nice bunch of people who genuinely seem happy to help you. A big shout out to Catherine who was one of the many fantastic people serving breakfast!

There are very few places where you truly feel like everything has been thought out with consideration and a sense of responsibility. I am not one to leave reviews, in fact this is my first ever online review... but when I was politely nudged at reception to leave one I felt I should share my experience as the people in this hotel have done everything to make sure that I had the most AMAIZING stay. My husband works in The council offices located close to the hotel and when we were looking to take a weekend break he suggested we come here as he had attended a Christmas party in the hotel last year and stayed overnight and thought I'd like it. We arrived to be greeted by a very lovely receptionist who provided us all the information about our dinner, breakfast and spa times, went as far as noting them on our key holder so we didn't forget. Dinner was very tasty and breakfast was just sublime, we were presented with an afternoon tea style stand filled with everything imaginable and to top it all they also provided hot food with this, we could barely get up from the table. It was very busy but every staff member we met greeted us and it was noticeable that the management actively assisted and supported the staff, no wonder the hotel stands out.
We noticed a couple being very awkward with a young waitress and the manager quickly came around and handled the situation.
Where ever we went there were gentle reminders of following their procedures for Covid19, signs on floors and carpets promoting social distancing and to remind people to walk on the right side, screens everywhere you looked, hand sanitizer everywhere you went, all staff wearing gloves and face masks, but it was all done so well that we never felt like it was in our face, well done osprey hotel. Our bedroom door was sealed with a notice stating it was sanitised, we didn't know how to open the seal but it broke itself when we opened the door. The room was huge and the bathroom was almost the same size as the room, i think 4 people could fit in that bathtub .... I found it really relaxing.
We had spa treatments booked, I had a facial and I really enjoyed it, while not being able to use the shower in the spa was a little inconvenient I understand they can't open it due to govt guidelines. We also had lunch in the hotel and decided to bring it outside the hotel by the fountain this was really nice though at one stage I was sprayed with water when a gust of wind blew the fountain water all over me, not to worry a staff member spotted me and brought me tissues without being asked, so thoughtful.
We felt safe, we enjoyed ourself and we know we will be back.

My first contact with the hotel was with Amy Connell, the Events Manager. She was a delight to deal with, she was both professional and friendly and took on board all our requirements and make sure that they were fulfilled.

The staff on the night of our booking were professional, friendly and proactive. The food was excellent and I would highly recommend anyone to use the Osprey Hotel for any events that they are planning.

Members of our club who stayed overnight found their rooms to be comfortable, clean and basically they just had a delight time. Breakfast the next morning was on par with the dinner the night before, excellent.

More people than we had planned for showed up on the night and the hotel staff in the restaurant dealt with this unexpected increase in numbers in a no fuss helpful manner. The restaurant staff played a blinder. Also the security personal at the front door were polite and friendly to everyone and made a point of saying hello to the children in our group that numbered 55 in total.

I found the Osprey Hotel to be a brilliant location and it met all our needs and the staff went above and beyond in every duty they performed. The prices for rooms, dinner etc were all fair and great value. Ask for Amy Connell in booking and she will make sure everything will be brilliant for your event.

Shane

We booked a 1 night stay and 2 rooms. Booked for a relaxing catch up after lockdown. On arrival we were given the keys to both rooms. One of the rooms was still dirty from the previous people and these rooms were meant to be sanitized and sealed. Really not acceptable in the current time. We complained obviously and were given another room. Also there was no seating on either balcony. What is the point of getting a balcony room if you cannot sit out and enjoy it? We had dinner in the bar restaurant and were given 2 dirty forks! Again really not acceptable at this time! Other than that the dining experience was pretty good but some background music could have helped add some atmosphere. The next morning we rang down early for robes and slippers to be brought up to our rooms as we were going swimming and to the spa. We had asked for these as the website stated you must change in your room as changing rooms are unavailable. Not a problem for us given the current situation. We then went down for breakfast where again we were given a dirty fork! The servers were very slow with taking our order. Food was just ok. We then returned to the room to get ready for the pool and treatments. The robes we were given were quite grubby and old. We had assumed the pool was within the hotel as we were in robes and slippers, however you had to walk through the basement carpark and then outside in order to get there. We were never told to bring our own towels or a swimming hat. As we were dressed to get straight in the pool we did not have cash so were informed that we could only use the hydro pool with no hat. This information could have been highlighted when we rang to book in a swimming slot. We then realized the changing rooms were in use even though it was stated on their website they were not. Also I didnt see anywhere where you could shower down before or after the swim which isnt very hygienic. There was also a horrible smell on the main stairs of the hotel. Overall we were disappointed with our stay and the overall condition and cleanliness of the hotel. We would have thought the few months the hotel was closed would have given the managers some time for a deep clean of the swimming pool, rooms and balconies etc. Would not stay here again.

Just back from a two night stay(Sunday and Monday) which was booked by my husband for my birthday. We had three rooms in total, ours was a balcony room but one balcony chair only and the pigeon droppings (a lot, and not new) were horrible.
The rooms were not serviced after the first night and we had to request that evening at reception, to a rather indifferent person, that they be completed. Interesting that when we were packing to leave today (well before 12) the housekeeping staff were attentively standing outside, peeking in to see if we we’re leaving.
The rooms were clean (and we did chuckle at the cheap 1ply toilet paper which brought us back to our primary school days!!!) The rooms were sweltering hot, and before anyone references the present summer heat... this occurs between April and September most years and air conditioning should be in place.
We had two lunches and two dinners in total, the same menu given each time. On Sunday night the person greeting us questioned our package and then again , when the bill was provided and she proceeded to argue our guest package. Our children left the restaurant embarrassed as they felt other diners were watching. The waitress returned to say she had billed us incorrectly.
The second night we were eating in the bar as my husband had been contacted to say the restaurant was overbooked. We were seated up on a balcony area at 8.30 and the meal was completed with our desert coming after 10.30... our 11 year old was lying on a nearby couch at this point.
Part of our deal was the spa which I cannot fault. The staff were kind, attentive and professional.
The deal for the other two rooms included 10% discount cards for Kildare village. All we saw was a code scanner which did not provide any discount.
The pool was ok, if a bit busy, and the lady with the mop was very attentive in the changing room on Sunday evening , mopping around and touching off our belongings as we tried to get dressed. My sons said she was in their changing room too.
My husband has not stopped apologising for such a lack-lustre experience. He mentioned a couple of times that this was a significant birthday but there was a consistent level of indifference.
Good customer service is paramount to providing a successful, positive experience. A smile, a greeting, discretion, familiarity with packages and procedures all go a long way to returning custom and recommendations.
I was lucky I was with my lovely family but we all feel we were almost unwelcome and an inconvenience.
Our one interaction at reception and with the waitress on the first night did not encourage us to follow up on any of the above during our stay.

Really can't recommend this hotel enough. My husband and I were very apprehensive about going because of the coronavirus pandemic but once we got to the hotel all that fear left us. The management and staff have this totally under control. From the minute we arrived until we left they made us feel at ease. Our large room had a veranda which was great as we got to sit outside. No one entered our room from we arrived until we left which was reassuring. We requested fresh towels which were brought to our room staff knocked the door and left them outside. We used the pool having booked a slot for this all brilliantly done lots of social distancing at the pool you can't shower but that was OK we showered in our room. The restaurant was absolutely fantastic with fabulous staff who went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and breakfast was, a delight in how it was servedand tasted great. Its all table service. Continental breakfast is served like afternoon tea on a three tier stand which was quite querky and once we finished this we had a full Irish Breakfast you don't have to have both but it comes part of the breakfast package. It's the staff who make this hotel great very friendly and go out if their way for you. The restaurant is socially distanced but you don't get that feeling which was lovely as its quite spacious and you can see other guests and communicate with them. All in all a very pleasant and happy stay we will return.

We stayed for two nights at the Ospery within the first week after the Covid restrictions were lifted and overall our stay was a disaster.
The staff done a good job implementing the new procedures but the basics outside that were very poor. We were promised a camp bed for our son which was not delivered to our room after check in. When we rang up they no longer had any available and offered to move us to another room, when we asked would it be quiet they said no which h left us with the option of taking the room beside so one of us could sleep which was fine. The following day we tried our bath which didn't work and we rang reception they said they would send maintenance up which took four hours and when he arrived spend thirty seconds there and said he would try something else. We gave it some more time and rang reception and mentioned this and the fact we didn't get our camp bed they offered us another room which we took.
This room was fine, it had an extra bed and the bath worked. However the heating in the room was on full blast and could not be turned off, we rang reception and they sent someone up straight away, they stayed thirty seconds and said they would be back which they weren't. Wé gave up and didn't bother ringing reception and opened the two small windows to cool us down however there was a group out roaring and shouting for an hour from half ten making it impossible to get our son asleep. We did get two vouchers for drinks after the hassell of moving but it was too little. Overall our stay was disappointing and the fact we went there first after four months of hotels been closed was not a good choice.

It has been a couple of years since i last stayed at this Hotel. The decor hasn't changed at all, still very pleasant to look at. A nice clean, well maintained hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and warm.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful, from reception, bar, waiters etc., all very pleasant. However, When I arrived, I was wearing a neck brace as i had suffered a Neck Fracture, no-one offered to help with my bag, which I thought was something they should have done. Also, there was a free drink with my booking, which when I asked for it in the bar, they said I needed to get a voucher from reception. Why couldn't reception issue the voucher on arrival?

Some things had changed though and not all for the better in my opinion.

The restaurant used to be cosy and full of nooks & crannies, but now it is just an open plan room full of tables. Furthermore, they used to offer a full vegetarian menu, now it is just a vegetarian 'option'. As a vegetarian, i like to actually have options as opposed to just selecting the only vegetarian dish available. This time I decided to eat in the bar, they had a very nice Vegetarian curry. The menu in the bar is the same menu for 'room service'.

Breakfast is a buffet breakfast and there was plenty of variety from fresh fruit, pastries and hot food. I was disappointed with the hot food. Hot food should be Hot and the buffet food was tepid, fried potatoes were mushy, scrambled eggs were watery, overall, I would not return for breakfast.

The lobby area is very pleasant and I noticed that there were lots of meetings taking place. Lots of places for people to plug in Laptops etc., quite a business hub! The lobby also has a coffee bar serving drinks and snacks. This area was quite busy.

On this occasion, I did not get to use the Spa facilities, so I cannot comment on that.

Overall, a pleasant stay, if they could improve the quality of the hot food at breakfast.

There were hand sanitisers everywhere you looked and all staff wore face masks. My room was spacious with a huge big double bed. There were complimentary toiletries provided. There was also a hairdryer, iron, ironing board and tea/coffee/kettle in the room. Bath robes and slippers were also provided.

Our son got us a weekend here for my birthday. The hotel looks lovely inside and out and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The room is lovely and spacious with a lovely bucket shower and freestanding bath. The breakfast is really nice with plenty of everything to suit all tastes. There’s a lovely bar and restaurant here too. Unfortunately due to us not booking ahead we couldn’t eat in the restaurant at night for a meal as it was booked out both nights.
Where this hotel falls down is, the food in the bar isn’t great, the Caesar salad was awful for a hotel, compressed sliced chicken which tasted more like rubber. Chicken wings or the burgers are about your best bet here.
Entertainment here is a guy using his laptop to play songs over speakers, there was no band or live music for Valentines weekend which was terrible. I could’ve stayed at home and watched YouTube.
If you don’t pay into the thermal spa which is €25 each you have to access the swimming pool via the underground car park. You have to walk across the cold car park, out the door into the cold and rain and enter the swimming pool and gym through another door. It’s insane, if you don’t catch a flu or cold you’ll be lucky.
The thermal spa is nice but €25 each for a sauna, steam and a salt room is a bit steep. We didn’t have a treatment but the suites looked nice.
Lastly, we’re in our late 50’s but felt a lot older. It seems to be a hotel for young couples or maybe it was just the weekend that was in it. A lot of the young men dressed in tracksuits in and around bar which gave the place a cheap look. Tracksuits are great for the gym but the hotel needs some sort of dress code for the lounge/bar.
All in all a lovely hotel but has a few problems. For the price paid there are nicer weekends away so, would I return to the Osprey Hotel? Very doubtful.
