What a picturesque place this is! Watching the milking process was fascinating! The breakfast was very good (portions were very big). Hostess was very nice. Very comfortable, if small, rooms. Highly recommend!!

Ballindrum Farm was a beautiful BnB. It is nestled on farmland with views for miles! Mary was a wonderful host and was extremely welcoming and sweet. Breakfast was delightful each morning and she was happy to cook whatever we desired from the menu she provided. I loved how she had fresh baked goodies each morning as well and this definitely added a homely touch to our stay.

The only two issues my husband and I had was that the bed was not very comfortable and we found that it was quite firm with little cushion. We were in Athy county for an obstacle race and a firm bed is not the most desirable choice for sleeping after something like this. A bed liner or cushion would have greatly helped. Also, the crows on the farm are unbearably loud! Both nights we stayed we had to sleep with our noise cancelling headphones on in an attempt to drown out the crows and get sleep. The walls were extremely thin as well, so you can hear everything that other guests are doing which is rough when people are up until 11pm and you are desperately trying to sleep.

Overall this was a good BnB. Our issues are not something the host would have a lot of control over. We most likely would not stay here again, but it was a good option for us and close to the race course we needed to get to for our Spartan.

Ballindrum is an archetypical Farm B&B which is the centre of a working dairy Farm surrounded by beautiful Irish counrtryside. Look out of your window to watch the chickens pecking happily away in their free range pen with the odd escapee making it 'over the wire' - although why they would want to get away from this haven I am not sure!

The cows in this busy farm are milked daily and with the consent of the charming host, Vincent, you may be able to watch the early milking which is a fascinating and highly mechanised operation. The young heffers gambol in the surrounding fields and even if the weather is gloomy the mood is soon lifted by the gourmet breakfast soon to follow.

Returning to the farmhouse you are met by the ubiquitous and effivescent landlady, Mary, who will take your breafast order - freshly laid eggs amongst a cornucopia of freshly cooked delights - miss the bacon at your peril!

Vincent and Mary were born to be 'mine hosts' - nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel at home immediately. If you are lucky whilst relaxing in the evening you may also be treated to a song or two from 18 year old Joe, the bard of Ballindrum, whom we have watched mature from a pubescent child warbler into a serious challenger to Aled Jones!

The rooms at Ballindrum are spacious and spotlessly clean with tea-making facilities and TV. The whole atmosphere is friendly and accommodating and the homely dining room is a good setting for early banter with other guests and tales of derring-do at the races. (Punchestown is only 30 minutes drive away and Ballindrum is a perfect antidote for impecunious punters seeking to recover for another day!). Athy is the nearest town, 10 minutes by car and the local pubs are full of connoisseurs of Guinness who all appear to be related to Ruby Walsh!!

My racing colleague and I have just returned from our thirteenth visit to Ballindrum having spent three days at Punchestown Races. We may be poorer from the racing but we are definitely richer from our annual stay at Ballindrum - simply a must for the discerning traveller to Ireland. Ben Gunn

This was our second stay at Ballindrum Farm. We were greeted with warm scones and fresh coffee. Mary sat and talked with us for quite a while. The youngest son, Joe, had entertained us 5 years ago, and gave us an encore performance. Quite the talented young man!
The rooms are quite spacious as are the bathrooms. The views are spectacular.
Mary gave us excellent directions to help us find the farm. She also gave us a great recommendation for dinner.
I don't intend to wait 5 years to return!

We stayed here for one night, it was lovely: the room was large and comfortable, the irish breakfast really tasteful with local products and original recipes (like the banana bread). The location also is relaxing and fully immersed in the irish countryside.

Room was excellent and breakfast first class. Nothing was too much trouble and Vincent and Mary are fantastic hosts. B&b was fully booked whilst we we there and it was no wonder. You need a car especially to eat out at night. We were there for racing at Leopardstown and The Curragh and it was great for that. Recommendations from their son re eating at Clannard Court Hotel in Atay and Lawlor's (especially)in Naas on our way back from the Curragh were spot on. Would recommend this B&B to everyone

I stayed for 1 night after a wedding. The facilities were 5 star, the room and bathroom were both spotless and very comfortable, I really appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities and the water that was provided in my room. Breakfast was a delight, the homemade scones in particular were delicious. Mary was so kind to us and made us feel so welcome. The surroundings are beautiful. I would highly recommend. Many thanks Mary for all your hospitality and close attention to detail that made our stay so wonderful.

After arriving very late to the B&B Mary was welcoming and even offered a cup of tea despite the time of night I arrived. The breakfast in the morning was gorgeous with a wide selection of food including homemade bread, scones and banana bread. The bedroom was extremely comfortable and included tea, coffee and biscuits. On the second morning of our stay Mary provided breakfast to me and my friends despite the fact we were late down for breakfast. I couldn't recommend this B&B highly enough.

I arrived late at night and was warmly welcomed and offered a cup of tea. When I went to drink it I was surprised to find it served with scones and jam and cream. Breakfast is amazing, there is the buffet food including fruit salad and yoghurt, cereals, scones, freshly squeezed juice etc. but on top of this you can order meals off a breakfast menu. I asked if I could borrow a bike and Francis found me one along with a helmet. The room is charming, the view is amazing and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. Also, they have free wifi! I was well looked after. All my requests were met and they went above and beyond my expectations in every area. Definitely the best B & B I have ever stayed at.
