We booked to stay in the 2 bedroom cottage on the farm. I went with my boyfriend and his Nan and grandad as they wanted to go and see family, old friends and go back to where they originally come from/grew up. We arrived early and didn’t expect to be able to check in since check in was at 3. We only drove there to see where it was that we were staying but we were greeted straight away and made to feel extremely welcome from start to finish. Mary came to welcome us with freshly baked scones. She showed us round the cottage and explained everything to us, also answering any questions we had and seemed genuinely interested in the reasons for our visit. The cottage itself was lovely and felt like a home away from homes. We felt very safe during our stay. The views were amazing, the best being the cows walking the field on the Saturday morning. You can literally see/hear them from the cottage and it added to the experience. None of us wanted to leave to come home. Would highly recommend staying either in the cottage or even the b & b itself (as I can well imagine it to be just as brilliant of an experience as the cottage). Thankyou so much for sharing your cottage with us Mary & Vincent. We had a lovely few days and where we stayed had a lot to do with that. We can’t wait to come back. …

I never really bother leaving reviews, but I just had to for this place. The moment I arrived I felt at home. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Mary went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. She even went to the effort of providing soya milk when she learned that I was allergic to milk. The breakfast was delicious too. It really was a lovely break away from the city and I would highly recommend it.

Stayed in Ballindrum after the Bob Dylan concert in Kilkenny and slept very well. Enjoyed a lovely big breakfast and the banter at the breakfast table. Was like a sanctuary or oasis for weary travellers in the fields.

There are not enough words to express the way I feel about this true lil gem of a Bnb, Mary and her family/team are the warmest of people, nothing was too much for them, and you knew it came from the heart, if you’ve never been to Ireland, then this is the place to start your Irish journey, I will certainly be returning. My family and I were on a search of our history, and Mary and the team went out of their way to help us out, I don’t think I’ll ever experience this type of kindness and hospitality anywhere else, so Mary from the bottom of my heart I send you love and thanks for just being the person you are, Hi to Caroline and Vincent for me xxxx

Arrived at this lovely farmhouse to be greeted with homemade scones and almond slices. Our room overlooked the farm, views of the chickens and calves were an added bonus to the surrounding countryside. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a great breakfast all freshly made including Mary’s soda bread and jams. Highly recommend and would love to stay again. (Sorry Mary and Vincent for walking off with the room keys. Hope they arrived backed safely).

Ballindrum Farm was a beautiful BnB. It is nestled on farmland with views for miles! Mary was a wonderful host and was extremely welcoming and sweet. Breakfast was delightful each morning and she was happy to cook whatever we desired from the menu she provided. I loved how she had fresh baked goodies each morning as well and this definitely added a homely touch to our stay. The only two issues my husband and I had was that the bed was not very comfortable and we found that it was quite firm with little cushion. We were in Athy county for an obstacle race and a firm bed is not the most desirable choice for sleeping after something like this. A bed liner or cushion would have greatly helped. Also, the crows on the farm are unbearably loud! Both nights we stayed we had to sleep with our noise cancelling headphones on in an attempt to drown out the crows and get sleep. The walls were extremely thin as well, so you can hear everything that other guests are doing which is rough when people are up until 11pm and you are desperately trying to sleep. Overall this was a good BnB. Our issues are not something the host would have a lot of control over. We most likely would not stay here again, but it was a good option for us and close to the race course we needed to get to for our Spartan.…

There are just no words to describe how exceptional this trip was and it was mostly due to how well Mary took care of us! The B & B was so warm & welcoming and Mary & her beautiful family went above & beyond to care for all the guests. I can not recommend her enough! She was a fountain of information, helped point us in the right direction when we left for travel during the day and ensured that we started each day off with a wonderful breakfast. The entire experience was great. If you are looking for a place to stay while traveling in Athy, do not miss out on this experience. Thank you Mary!! We miss you terribly! ~ Trina
