A wonderful period farmhouse in the middle of Irish Countryside. Mary and Raymond are great hosts and did everything to make our stay comfortable. Our room was very spacious and we had been upgraded as we were staying 6 nights..a kind act. If you are looking for a period house rather than a modern hotel, then try Moate Lodge.
Had a lovely stay at Moate Lodge, Raymond & Mary have a beautiful country home so full of history. A lovely couple working together doing a great Job! Could show a lot of 4 star hotels good old Irish hospitality at its best. Many thanks Jackie..
It all started by the lovely warm welcome we received at the front door by Mary and Raymond . We have been touring Ireland for the last two weeks and the welcome and hospitality we received was second to none. Form the cleanliness and warmth of this extremely well maintained 18th century house and gardens, to the fabulous full Irish breakfast and home baked scones it all made for a wonderful stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely 18th century country house to anybody who is thinking of booking accommodation in the area. Noelle
I felt so warmly welcome in all my 5 days throughout my stay in Moate Lodge. Mary made always sure to ask me if I needed anything else than previously provided. The place exhales history from the moment you arrive! The house itself dates from the 18th century and when I started walking in the beautiful countryside of Kildare (gorgeous weather along my whole stay) alongside Moate Lodge, was a wonderful experience, making it difficult to just describe with words. Raymond (Mary's husband) has a cinema inside the house (yeah, that's right!), and what a gentleman he is! Asked me which film from his collection I would like to watch... Wow! I decided to pick one which I've never watched, and how good it was. Simply amazing! Thank you very much both of you, Mary and Raymond for the lovely stay, far the best one in my days in Ireland.…
Booked in for a wedding nearby. Had no knowledge of the area but liked the fact that it was pet friendly and the reviews were brilliant. Mary guided us to the Lodge after we got a little lost and was there to greet us with the offer of tea and biscuits. Lovely quiet old house with period furniture; we had a large suite of rooms for our family and it was lovely and warm - Storm Barra notwithstanding! Breakfasts were served promptly and were delicious - full Irish for me. Every night Mary put on our heated blanket on the double bed which was most welcome. She even made my wife and I soup and rolls after we got back late and unable to get a meal out. All facilities were brilliant Spent four very peaceful nights there.
Mary and Raymond are amazing hosts. The estate is a manor-like construction refurbished to have guests, full of history that Raymond is more than happy to share. The accommodations are extremely comfortable while with an authentic Irish countryside decor. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot and with great pressure, the breakfast was delicious and on top of all that, the views... Out of any window, the views were breathtaking! Highly recommended!
We stayed in Moate Lodge last Saturday night as we were going to a party nearby. Greeted warmly by Mary and shown to a huge, traditionally designed bedroom with views of 2 sides of the amazing country landscape. Returned after the party to have a great night's sleep in a really comfy bed, then had grand breakfast and chats with Richard and a walk around the extensive grounds. Such lovely people, gorgeous lodge, fine food and incredible value for money. An unexpected treasure.
Just arrived home after attending wedding at burtowns house. My 2 cousins and i booked 2 rooms at Moate Lodge for one night. When we arrived Mary had Tea selection of Sandwiches and cake waiting for us sat down chatted with us made us feel so welcome. The rooms were lovely v big ideal for family gettaway. House full of charm We had a lovely breakfast this morning met mary husband Raymond. Such a lovely couple. Highly recommended 10/10. Thanks Raymond & Mary👌👌👌
We stayed here for one night and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Approaching the house, it feels like you're in a Jane Austen novel - stunning surrounds and the house is truly magnificent. It's worth the stay for the history alone! Raymond & Mary were extremely welcoming and the bedroom was a perfect mix of modern and classical charm. It felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, the room was fresh and clean, and the en-suite was lovely (large shower and handrail to support accessibility). We slept like logs because there was no noise or light pollution, and in the morning we enjoyed a lovely continental breakfast (Irish fry was also available, and we could select what time we wanted to eat). Raymond and Mary made sure we had everything we needed and also took the time to tell us about the house, history and their family. In particular if you have children, there was lots of land/gardens, outdoor dining spaces and chickens which we had a look in on (fresh free range eggs). We were also amazed to discover a proper cinema on the property, stocked full of dvds! In sum, we loved our stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. We were also impressed by the Covid-safety. Thanks to Raymond & Mary!…
