Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The stay was wonderful, and Raymond and Mary were incredibly attentive. From the moment I arrived, they made sure I felt comfortable and at home. I slept like a baby, and the breakfast was delicious, with a variety of fresh options that truly exceeded my expectations. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience.

We recently stayed with our family for a wedding in the area; Mary and Raymond were lovely hosts and we really enjoyed our stay! The homemade Irish breakfast was such a nice touch (Mary even bakes the scones herself!) and they provided GF bread to fit my dietary restrictions which I really appreciated. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The property was beautiful. Thank you again to Mary and Raymond!

We stayed here for one night and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Approaching the house, it feels like you're in a Jane Austen novel - stunning surrounds and the house is truly magnificent. It's worth the stay for the history alone! Raymond & Mary were extremely welcoming and the bedroom was a perfect mix of modern and classical charm. It felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, the room was fresh and clean, and the en-suite was lovely (large shower and handrail to support accessibility). We slept like logs because there was no noise or light pollution, and in the morning we enjoyed a lovely continental breakfast (Irish fry was also available, and we could select what time we wanted to eat). Raymond and Mary made sure we had everything we needed and also took the time to tell us about the house, history and their family. In particular if you have children, there was lots of land/gardens, outdoor dining spaces and chickens which we had a look in on (fresh free range eggs). We were also amazed to discover a proper cinema on the property, stocked full of dvds! In sum, we loved our stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. We were also impressed by the Covid-safety. Thanks to Raymond & Mary!

It all started by the lovely warm welcome we received at the front door by Mary and Raymond .
We have been touring Ireland for the last two weeks and the welcome and hospitality we received was second to none.
Form the cleanliness and warmth of this extremely well maintained 18th century house and gardens, to the fabulous full Irish breakfast and home baked scones it all made for a wonderful stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely 18th century country house to anybody who is thinking of booking accommodation in the area.

We stayed here after attending a family wedding nearby. From the moment we checked in Mary made us feel so welcome. The rooms are very comfortable and getting out of the comfortable bed was no easy task in the morning. Breakfast was made to order and was very tasty. Our daughter even got a jar of Nutella for her croissant(which made her morning) Both Richard and Mary were so friendly and full of information. If you are a history nut like me Richard is a wealth of information. We were also invited to pick apples from the orchard to take home which will make lovely apple tart. Would highly recommend and will definitely return in the future.

How can I not like Moate Lodge in Athy (Kildare County, Ireland)? Mary and Raymond are lovely, welcoming, open, helpful and extremely kind people. The setting is everything one can imagine of authentic Ireland, a Georgian house in all its splendour and charm, a decoration of the type "Laura Ashley", an absolute calm in the middle of a very pretty countryside, and a memorable breakfast.

We stayed in Moate Lodge last Saturday night as we were going to a party nearby. Greeted warmly by Mary and shown to a huge, traditionally designed bedroom with views of 2 sides of the amazing country landscape. Returned after the party to have a great night's sleep in a really comfy bed, then had grand breakfast and chats with Richard and a walk around the extensive grounds. Such lovely people, gorgeous lodge, fine food and incredible value for money. An unexpected treasure.
