Stayed Saturday night as going to a wedding celebration in local hotel. Theresa and Chris were lovely and very accommodating. Our room was spotless as was the whole of the house - plenty of outside safe parking. Delighted with our warm and cosy bedroom. Theresa very kindly drove me to the hotel that evening. Breakfast was again in a spotless dining room and the food was excellent - lovely fresh homemade brown bread hit the spot. Thoughtfully decorated home and felt very welcoming - thank you very much Theresa and Chris - any further trips to Athy, we will stay, if you will have us!! Kindest regards, Yvonne and George
The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. The owner, Theresa, was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - made with locally sourced, quality ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the white pudding! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would happily stay again. Tea and coffee facilities in the room would have pushed the score for this B&B to "excellent". The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the location is quiet, but close to the main town of Athy.
Before I made my reservation I had seen some very good reviews about Aurora House, but I was still very impressed, especially by the friendliness and professionalism of our host Teresa. She made us feel very welcome and comfortable, and really contributed to a very enjoyable 9 day holiday in Ireland, especially with the excellent advice she gave us on places to visit. Breakfast is deliciously prepared each morning with the freshest ingredients, and there's a nice variety to choose from. On the first morning I opted for the Irish breakfast; it was delicious so that's what I had every day. My wife loved the smoked salmon! The location is also very good, in a quiet corner in the countryside (and they also have a parking area right outside the door), but still only a couple of minutes drive from Athy town centre, where you can find anything you need (Lidl, take-aways, pharmacy, petrol station, etc), and it's only about an hour's drive from Dublin Airport. The central location permitted us to drive all over Ireland without having to change hotels; we even drove all round the Ring of Kerry and visited the Cliffs of Moher. I would recommend this place to anyone who's driving. (I cannot comment about public transport as we had rented a car.)…
This is a very well-managed B&B. The owner, Theresa, is lovely. Our rooms were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and the service was great. The only minor negatives - the bedroom felt a little small and constrained due to the sloped ceiling with only one skylight as a window. I thought B&Bs provided tea in the room. This one does not. Perhaps it is not standard. I did not ask. Overall this B&B provides a comfortable room, hot shower, good breakfast and friendly conversation. Can't ask for more than that.
I have visited Aurora House B & B on a couple of occasions now and the rooms have always been warm & clean, the food is first class & the hosts are very friendly, gentle people. Chris & Teresa do a great job of promoting Athy & making their guests feel welcome - they respect your privacy but are also happy to chat away or help out if you need a bit of advice on the locality
My wife and I had a delicious breakfast on both mornings of our stay. Cereal, fruit and yoghurt available as well as a variety of hot breakfasts on the menu(I went for the full Irish, my wife had smoked salmon and eggs - both were very well prepared and tasty). extremely personable host, comfortable rooms. Lovely spot.
Had a lovely peaceful night at the Aurora after spending the day at Electric picnic. Breakfast was really nice. Teresa is a genuine kind and friendly lady. Would stay again if traveling to the area again.
Just got back from a long weekend at Aurora House. Chris and Teresa were top class hosts. It is a lovely, clean and exceptionally friendly B&B where nothing is too much for the owners to do for their guests. I had three different breakfasts and all were delicious. I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place.
Cycled down from Dublin An excellent place to stay. For me, a lot about a place is to do with the people. I only like to stay in places where I am made to feel comfortable. A place where I can meet genuine people who are very friendly and down to earth. In Aurora this is exactly what you will get. A lovely warm friendly family. My kind of place. The facilities are excellent, lovely hot shower and possibly the best breakfast I ever had, seriously amazing if you like a tasty fry up. I did take a photo which I must upload. The only reason I haven't given 5/5 is a couple of very small details where my single bed was a bit squeeky and any sound made around the house travels very easily. Wooden floors are lovely but it means every foot step made from 7am could be heard and conversations can be heard very easily. If you are getting up at 7am it won't be a problem for you :-) I would definitely stay again. It was worth the price and I enjoy giving money to good people.... especially when they give me a hot power shower and seriously good breakfast after a long cycle mmm....…
Myself & my husband recently stayed at Aurora B&B while attending a wedding nearby. I cannot praise highly enough the warm cosy atmosphere at this place. Teresa the owner is the friendliest B&B owner I've ever met. She even offered us a lift to the wedding, which we gladly accepted (when you're wearing heels, this is very welcome!). Though our stay was very short, I would have no problem recommending to anyone. The breakfast the next morning was soooo good! Yum!
