My wife and I were on a cycling tour, on our own and with panniers. We were cycling the Ring of Kerry, but also wanted to see the quieter roads and interior of the peninsula. This small lodge is a gem. It sits on a beautiful river, with lovely views from all rooms. Because we could not bike to a restaurant, we asked Breda if she could accommodate us by providing dinner. No problem. Shortly before our trip she emailed asking whether we had any dietary restrictions. We told her we were interested in traditional Irish dishes and, sure enough, she cooked a delicious Irish stew (and apple pie!), accompanied by a great Spanish wine. We arrived too early for check-in but, rather than make us wait, Breda cooked us a nice lunch. The Irish breakfast may have been the best we have had. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. A lovely sheep dog, Leslie, followed us everywhere. It was like being invited into and old friend’s home.…

I was placed here for a night in October of 2021 by Hillwalk Tours, who organized an itinerary for me as part of a hiking excursion in the Kerry mountains. I got to Blackstones after a long, wet day of hiking. The place is perfectly situated right next to the Caragh River in a gorgeous part of Co. Kerry. Isolated and beautiful. Because I was without a car, Hillwalk had arranged for Breda, my host, to cook me an evening meal. I spent 12 days in Ireland on this trip, and her (vegetarian, per my request) meal was undoubtedly the best I had! She and Paddy were unfailingly friendly and helpful and I got a good night's sleep before setting out on my next hike in the morning along the Kerry Way. I highly recommend Blackstones House!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blackstone House. This B&B is situated by a river bank. it is absolutely gorgeous. I felt such peace waking up to that sound of water. we stayed at 2 hotels and 4 different B&Bs during our stay and this was absolutely the most tranquil.

Blackstones House was the perfect location for 3 nights during our first trip to Ireland. Breda and Paddy are the perfect Irish hosts and the B&B in the heart of the beautiful County Kerry mountains was just what we were looking for. The views and sounds of the river from our spacious double room were beautiful and relaxing to come back to at the end of a busy day. Paddy’s homemade full Irish breakfast gave us the start we needed each morning. Breda is so knowledgeable about the area; all the places you want to see and the best ways to get there. We were sorry to leave at the end of our 3 days. We highly recommend Blackstones House and look forward to finding a way to come back to Ireland and stay there even longer.

This B&B is absolutely beautiful! I spent quite some time at the little river behind the house. It is stunningly beautiful. This is hidden in the woods. We didn't get a chance to eat before we checked in and Breda made us a reservation at a hotel 8 minutes away. Delicious!! I highly recommend this B&B. Also, breakfast was delicious! Side note, her dog is adorable.

Breda made us welcome in to her home after a long hike. The house is situated in a place of natural beauty , trails beside the river bank and forests. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, excellent mattress and stunning views of the mountains with the sound of the river. We had dinner, couldn't be better! Great choice and quality for breakfast, as well. After dinner we sat by the fire in the sitting room and chat with Breda and her neighbours.

The Blackstone House is a special place in Kerry. It is set on the banks of a beautiful river that flows through the historic Blackstone Bridge. The owners are very hospitable. The room was the largest we had in a B&B and had a small sitting area. The view of the river is seen from the large windows and the sound of the river lulls one to sleep. This is a perfect area for hiking the Kerry Trail. Just make sure to call or e-mail the owner to get specific directions as it didn't register on our GPS.

This was a last minute booking for my sister and I on our trip to Ireland. Our travel agent forgot to book our hotel in Killarney area. While it is quite remote it is just beautiful. And the nicest people, great food. Would loved to have stayed longer if our trip had permitted.

One night visit while hiking the Kerry Way! We mistakenly took the advice of some of the locals we met at a pub (we may have had a pint or two) and took the road way instead of the hiking trail for the last few kilometers, it took forever and if not for kindhearted Breda may still be walking the roads of Ireland. Wonderful one night stay, accommodations were beautiful, both dinner and breakfast delicious.

We stayed at many wonderful B&Bs in Ireland, but for me, none had a nicer location than Blackstones. This large old house sits perched on the banks of a roaring (and apparently fish-filled) river, in the midst of some of Ireland's wildest countryside. It's a perfect base if you're planning to hike to Ireland's highest point (as I did). But it's also a nice place to escape from the rest of the tourist hordes. The house itself is very comfortable, with spacious rooms and a cozy lounge, and the hosts were very helpful. The breakfast--served in a room with a view of the river--was delicious.
