We stayed here in April. Wonderful folks welcomed us into their home and treated us like family. Meet other "local traveling salesmen " that sent us to a local restaurant and it was great. Mr.& Mrs. Garvey treated me like a son, it was great. Tom even let me try to help doing chores. He only yelled at me once so I think I did ok. I hope! Thank you Wes Littlefield
Upon booking Joan's mail was unclear and I interpreted it as 90 euro per night for both rooms. AFTER I sent her my credit card information she sends me the following mail: --- "On May 22, 2019, at 3:38 PM, Garvey Thomas wrote: no , do your maths , at any rate rooms no longer available , find some other place for your price joan garvey " --- Suffice it to say I've been visiting Ireland for more than 20 yrs and on average spend 179 euro per night on rooms in hotel and for B&B per night about 95 euro. So I don't need to find something for "my price" and I don't need to "do my maths" - I have a kind heart and Masters degree. In one mail this B&B who was recommended by the B&B Ireland website - gave me the worst experience and the most unwelcome feeling I've ever had in country. All she had to do was say no, you misread it's xxx per night for the two rooms and I'd gladly have said ok. Instead she moved to insult me instead of being a good steward. Do not spend your money here. There are plenty of kind and professional hosts on the peninsula who would never treat potential customers this way.…
Joan and Tom made our visit to the Dingle Peninsula more than just a stop along the way. She's a great hostess, the food was awesome and the room was everything we could ask for. The farm is very convenient to both Dingle town and Slea Head Drive, which is awesome... every curve brings another breathtaking sight. Pub life was lively, food was good in the restaurants and good craic, too! Thanks Joan!
My only regret was not staying an extra night here. My two friends and I had no issues checking in with the proprietor, Joan, who honestly was a gem of a person. The location is amazing, right by the ocean, though not quite visible, but within walking distance. We got what we wanted. A relaxing place to stay to catch our breath and enjoy the fresh air on the Dingle peninsula. It's well worth your time to drive the 20mins from Doolin town to stay here. The breakfast was well worth it, with farm fresh milk and a delicious menu. Plus, in the morning, you can get to know Koan's husband and son milking the cows. They're such a lovely family. Stay here if you're wanting to get away from the busy town and have some peace and quiet!
Our 2-night stay at Garvey's Farmhouse was wonderful! Joan was such a kind and helpful host, she was easy to communicate with via email and phone when we were planning our check-in time or had a question during our stay. She went out of her way to offer us suggestions on where to eat dinner or hear live music in town. The room was very comfortable and clean, with a fantastic view. Breakfast was delicious and custom-made based on a menu we were able to fill out the evening before, which was a great touch! Joan was also very flexible about making us breakfast early on our last morning and helping us to leave town before road closures began for the marathon, which was very helpful. The home and farm are lovely and in a wonderful location - although keep in mind that it is a 10-15 min. drive into Dingle town itself, which is easy enough and there is ample parking downtown. I liked this location outside of town because the B&B is right on the Slea Head Drive and a great starting point for the scenic drive around the peninsula! Would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to do so again in the future!…
Breakfast was delicious. It is indeed a working farm so if you haven’t smelled a farm before you’ll want to prepare yourself. Great recommendations for a nearby pub for dinner. Very sweet host and server for breakfast.
Joan is a wonderful person: very helpful and attentive, full of excellent thoughtful advice and goes out of her way to ensure a great experience. It is very clean and has a guest lunge that has tea and coffee and is very clean. The decor, bedding etc are a bit dated. The smell of manure from the nearby barn was evident in the room. If you value local advice and a host who will go out of her way to assist you if you need anything above and beyond: stay here. If you need to have white sheets, large TV, and modern decor, look elsewhere.
We had a spacious family room with sea view. Very nice B&B and wonderful location. The host is wonderful and makes you feel at home right away. Thank you Joan for your hospitality ! Family Van Aken, Belgium
Our group of 8 had a lovely stay at this working farm. Joan was very receptive to our requests and needs. I was injured while in Ireland and Joan was kind enough to find me a large pillow to make my travel to our next location more comfortable. If you are looking for a nice place to stay on the Dingle peninsula this is it.
We stayed at Garvey's Farmhouse with our host Joan and enjoyed it very much. The farm is in a bucolic country location with an easy drive into Dingle to enjoy the pubs and music. Joan is informative, warm and friendly with typical Irish hospitality. The breakfast was farm fresh. I recommend it if you want to experience B&B lodging in the Irish country-side.
