Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been staying here with a college student group for an extended period. This hotel is just what we wanted. We are staying in the self-catering cottages which are very nice, clean and well-appointed. There are three bedrooms in most of the cottages with living room, dining room and small kitchen. What really makes this place a hotel to be enjoyed are the owners - all members of one family who have run this hotel for generations. Jane Marie runs the finances and is very helpful. Geraldine does the cooking and she is excellent. She can cook for a family or she can cook for 300 people. She really knows what she is doing in that big kitchen in the hotel. John Paul is nothing short of an angel. He is the handyman who does absolutely everything, from helping you to plan day trips to fixing your hot water heater. He could not be more helpful or eager to make your stay the absolute best. I cannot recommend this facility more highly. It is a gem.

Room Tip: All of the self-catering cottages appear to be similar. Number 7 is quite nice.

My daughter and I arrived very late to the hotel (having been let down badly by a local B&B), but couldn't have been met with a warmer welcome by John Paul. His friendly approach makes him an asset to the hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. We had a wonderful night's sleep - not a sound! Breakfast the following morning was delicious - I opted for the 'continental' and thoroughly enjoyed home baked ham and brown bread with freshly prepared fruit salad. My daughter tucked into her 'traditional Irish' with delight. The service was very friendly and efficient. I will certainly be returning with my husband when we next have a weekend away. Thank you so much - staff of the Park Lodge Hotel. You are a credit to the Irish tourism industry. Ann McLoughlin. Leitrim.

Stayed here for 3 months on a study abroad trip. The cottages are adorable - cozy and clean. The staff makes the hotel extremely welcoming - they are always friendly and there isn't a job that they can't handle. I travelled and returned here after the program was out and was able to stay in a hotel room also - the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean - showers are wonderful!

Great location and lovely staff but we were very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the cottages. The wardrobes were musty and full of cobwebs and graffiti. We couldn't use them for the week we were there. There was a musty smell in all of the bedrooms which was a shame as the living area was quite well decorated and maintained. The kitchenette was very basic and this would have been fine if it was clean! Coffee pot was thick with grease and unusable. Under the sink was full of cobwebs, dirt and last years mouse droppings! This is also where all the trays and pots were kept! In fairness to the staff they cleaned it, got pest control in and gave us a discount, however they refused to admit that there were mouse droppings there! Cannot understand how simple cleaning and painting over graffiti etc was not done. Such a shame. Never got to sample the food as the restaurant never seemed to be open! I knew from previous reviews that the accomodation is basic but there is no excuse for bad hygiene. So sorry to have had this bad experience as we were really looking forward to a family holiday. Hopefully they will sort these problems out so others will not have such an experience.

Stayed in the cottages at the hotel but ate and drank within the Park Lodge. All dealings with staff were fantastic. Such a family friendly and hospitable atmosphere that will entice me to stay there again without a shadow of a doubt.
Food (and drink) at the bar was excellent and very reasonably priced. We had a large party and they catered for us with ease and EVERYONE in our party were so pleased with service and quality.

I stayed at this hotel while visiting my daughter in Irish College. The food is very nice and the staff were extremely friendly. The rooms were very clean and this hotel offered extremely good value for money. Having free internet is a real bonus.

My family had the opportunity to stay at the Park Lodge over Christmas this past year. We have stayed at many hotels, but have never received such phenomenal service. The rooms were very clean and spacious, the food was great, and the staff went well above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

I can't imagine a better place to stay to truly experience top notch hospitality. I would recommend the Park Lodge to anyone visiting the Galway area!

Stayed for 4 nights in the cottages at the back of park lodge hotel. Lovely cottage, 3 bedrooms, tv, dvd, conservatory, patio to rear, car parking. Good, basic and clean, pleasantly surprised. Close to Spiddal village (approx 2km) , Galway city (approx 10km). Able to use hotel facilities, games room, bar, restaurant.

The moment we arrived ( coach with 35 guests ) hotel staff were immediately there to help off load all of the bags! Hotel could have been 70's not sure. Our room was small, basic amenities , small double bed, very small flat screen tv. Bathroom was small, basic, little room for toiletbags etc. Towel heater wasn't working - had to get it fixed. Dinning room was souterrain ( in the basement ), set menu for dinner - salad starter - sparse with very little dressing, vegetable soup hot and tasty. Main course was a choice of salmon or turkey, generally spoken the portions were small e.g. one of everything, little gravy ,no extras were served/offered. Breakfast was a bit disorganised, kitchen knew we had to be down for 730am but not everything was ready in time e.g. toast and eggs etc for 35 pers. The bacon though was delicious as was the rest that made up the ' full English ' breakfast. Coffee was medium strength - not too weak, butter was a bit sparse, no HP or Ketchup sauces. The dinning room staff ( ladies ) were polite and friendly, same for the helpful gentleman who was behind the bar. Read the other reviews and you'll find that it has a great name and you don't get that for no reason.

I stayed here last weekend with my partner, it was all last minute. We were dubious as the exterior is very bland. We initially got a room without a bath and I explained to the barman that I would love a bath he quickly changed our room. The room was very clean and the view was fabulous!!! WE drank in the bar that night and the staff are so friendly. The next morning we had a really tasty breakfast and when asked about check out we were told lever whenever we wanted. I feel Irish hotels have lost the charm this little place has and would highly recommend it.It really is great value.
