Detailed Reviews
It is hard to describe how therapeutic this weekend has been, on all levels, without sounding clichéd but I shall try and convey how special it was.
I was greeted by Dave on arrival and immediately felt ‘ah, this is for me’. An authentic, creative place where Niall’s alchemy in the kitchen created aromas that complemented the smell of rain soaked earth while robins sang as dusk descended. Ancient stone structures in the garden offer a protective and magical space. Hand carved wooden furniture, combined with interior stone structures; quality bedding & linen, soothing lighting, natural aromas and temperature control, all serve to make one feel they are part of a creative team who appreciate quality, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Grainne’s yoga teaching is intuitive, sincere, nurturing and inspiring. The yoga room is a beautiful space. The energy there from over twenty years of people receiving and giving healing, through yoga and meditation,is palpable.
Being among like-minded people and sharing diverse conversations and humour was a huge bonus for me.
Nathalie’s attentive presence in the kitchen ensured we were pampered and the choice of vegetarian dishes, all made from scratch by Niall was impressive; each dish more tasty, and more delicious than the last. The presentation was beautiful with attention to colour, quality, taste and nutritional value.
It was not difficult to abstain from the usual, less sustaining crutches in life such as phone, internet etc.
In spite of storm Jorge we embarked on a walk to one of many scenic outdoor places to visit. We had to cut it short, but it meant we arrived earlier at our fabulous lunch reservation at Linnanes, New Quay which served an amazing array of fresh seafood as well as vegan vegetarian dishes, if preferred. Their chowder and mussels are rated 'five star' and their location by the water with sea views is an extra delight.
Of all the places I could have chosen for a retreat I am happy I chose this. My only regret is time passed too quickly. Next time I will book in for a full week.

I decided to travel to The Burren Yoga Retreat to do a week's bootcamp. I was there for a weekend last January and was very impressed.
I definitely needed to remove all the bad news flying around, but was also anxious as we move out of lockdown. I must say all protocols were adhered to from the start with out temperature being taken, loads of hand sanitizers and one person to a room. Social distancing between our yoga mats, only 9 in the class, reduced from 15 in January. Meals were well organised, with one person at a time being served and sat in safety.
As result of the above, the scene was set for a most enjoyable week of Yoga. Niamh once again introduced me to many different forms of Yoga which filled me with energy to enjoy the many very interesting discoveries that I didn't realise were in the Burren region. On our many walks, leading to beautiful scenery, lunches and swims.
The Burren Yoga Retreat is run very well by Dave and his many hands. Beautiful vegetarian food, provided by Niall and uplifting leadership, leading to excellent gelling to all the attendees.
This is an inspirational little Gem, which will change your live Spiritually, Mentally, Physically, Emotionally for the better. Niamh is such a wonderful person and knowledgeable yoga instructor.
A new building is in development, to be ready in the new year. I look forward to returning again, hopefully there will be places after people discover this magical place.

I have just come back from a weekend stay at The Burren Yoga Retreat Centre. Following a warm welcome upon arrival by Dave the smell of the wonderful food being prepared by Paddi in the kitchen just overtook your senses. It was great to meet so many fantastic people who traveled from all over Ireland and even further to enjoy this relaxing retreat and Carmel our yoga and meditation instructor for the weekend gave us great tips and advice on how to get the most from our practice at home. The rooms were basic but clean and warm, the extension that is currently underway will be an huge asset to the facility and add an even more enjoyable experience to your stay by providing elevated views during mediation and yoga classes.
I would definitely would recommend this retreat to anyone and will be returning myself in the near future.

I really benefited from this retreat, excellent meditation and yoga teaching / guidance / support from Dave, responding to the different levels and needs of the group. You are totally immersed in the experience while there because of the experienced yoga and meditation instruction, the nutritious and delicious food, the beautiful location, scenery, the fresh air, and not least the warm, kind, generous, and welcoming way this centre is run. The accommodation is comfortable and all is done to ensure you have a restful, relaxing stay. It is so well worth it... and it has an impact long afterwards in supporting you to introduce positive changes in your life..

Lovely weekend, great yoga thanks Carmel! Plenty of beautiful vegetarian food. Arrived in wet and windy weather but felt cocooned sitting under the roof in the upstairs sitting room sipping tea.
Beds very comfortable, duvets soft light and warm, shared a 3 bunk (6 bed)room with three others.
Weather improved for a short hill walk, windy but well worth it for the great views before an excellent lunch in Linnanes on Saturday.
Recommend this without reservation. Thanks Dave for setting up the Centre. I will be back. Karen

I was a complete newbie to yoga and was slightly nervous about participating in this yoga retreat weekend. One we arrived and was welcomed by Dave and June I was immediately put at ease. The location is remote and of course enjoys the stunning scenery of the Burren. Our ensuite room was really excellent. The centre has undergone a complete upgrade and our room was top quality with luxury bed linens and a well equipped bathroom with a large walk in shower. Margarida Tree was our yoga teacher for the weekend and we had over 8 hours of yoga in the stunning yoga room during the weekend. Margarida is a wonderful teacher, friendly, professional and so inspirational. I felt totally at ease during the sessions even though there were other people on the weekend retreat who had much more experience of practising yoga. We also did meditation with Margarida as part of our daily yoga practice and Margarida encouraged us to continue to practice what we learned on the retreat. To take full advantage of the stunning scenery around us Dave organised for us to do a walk in the Burren and take a (not so strenuous) climb up Abbey Hill and enjoy the views. This review would not be complete without mentioning the truly incredible vegetarian food cooked for us by Siobhan each day. We were all extremely keen to get all of her recipes to try at home ! There was a great atmosphere in the dining room each day for meals and it was a great way to get to know the other retreat participants. I would highly recommend the Burren Yoga Centre to give yourself the opportunity to take sone time out, relax, switch off and begin or continue your yoga practice. I am looking forward to returning before too long

This was my 1st time to do anything alone and it turned out to be the best impulse decision I ever made! The centre was spotless and the lighting that flowed through it was uplifting in itself. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable with a huge window letting in light and overlooking nature.
The fully tiled bathroom felt very luxurious with a large shower and heated towel rail!
The food was delicious, and plentiful. Really impressed with so many new flavours and all vegetarian, my body was flooded with goodness all week.
Our yoga teacher Grainne, went above and beyond and as I am building my strength after an illness last year, I never felt under any pressure to keep up with the group on hikes or classes, It was perfect for me.
All the staff were really helpful.
I can't forget the incredible scenery all around the centre , it was so calming and peaceful. I floated home!!
I'll be back 100%

I LOVED this weekend retreat (4-6th December 2020). From the centre itself, the peaceful environment of the Burren, the accommodation, the food which was unbelievable and not expecting the food to be a highlight!, prepared by Darren and served to us by him and Natalie, and of course the yoga and meditation itself conducted by Roisi Phelan. Roisi is a wonderful teacher, and person, I felt calm and spiritual just being around her. I learned a lot from her, especially the ujai breathing technique, and have already started practising using the handout she gave us. But for me, the abbsolute highlight was meeting with people again, after lockdown, it was very covid19 friendly with hand sanitising, social distancing, with plenty of room to chat, we split meal times so only 4/5at one time, it was just so invigorating to chat with a small group again, to share and to laugh and to be with others after six weeks lockdown, and most importantly to feel so safe doing this with how well set up for covid19 safey the centre was. And finally, this is all thanks to Dave, who set up and runs the centre. I look forward to many more retreats there.

I visited for the week long yoga bootcamp. I was very happy with the temperature checks, spacing, sanitizer stations etc which allowed me to leave COVID worries behind. The yoga was a great mix of different styles of yoga including yogalates, yin yoga, yoga nidra along with meditation and breathing exercises. Niamh is a very knowledgeable teacher with a broad range of expertise. She has really whetted my appetite for learning more. The food was delicious and the outings were a fantastic showcase of the natural beauty of the Burren. For a year when it's difficult to travel, this was a real getaway.

My job is quite intense, if immensely satisfying, and following the several waves of covid and the cyberattack on the HSE I was in real need of a relaxing break. Burren yoga retreat provided just that for me! The accommodation is spotless and of a high standard, the yoga classes were excellent and the mix of afternoon outdoor hikes and daily morning and evening yoga was a perfect combination for the get away. The surrounding countryside has so much to offer between the Burren, many beautiful beaches and the iconic cliffs of Moher.
Dave and the team were wonderful hosts and Darren kept us so well fed.
Even a couple weeks later I'm still feeling the benefits of slowing down totally and taking some time out to breathe and meditate in this glorious part of the country. I'll definitely be back to recharge again!

Yes. There is no alcohol on site and the owner requests that you don't drink on the excursions, but of course that is discretionary.
I wouldn’t be sure myself, but if you go on to the burren yoga retreat website and there is an email address and a number for Dave the Manx who runs it and he would be more than happy to help you 😊
