Amidst the little town of Roundstone stands a lovely boutique hotel called Eldon's Hotel. It is owned by lovely people John, Michelle & Daniel who accommodated us during our four days stay. As we travelled all the way from Westmeath and didn't know much about Roundstone, John and Michelle recommended beautiful places to go to around town and nearby areas. They also recommended restaurants and their son even helped us to book seats at O'Dowd's where it is always fully booked. Breakfast is great and you can request your preferred meals.

The location of the hotel is well centralised. There's a convenient store across and lots of restaurants nearby. Farmers Market which happened to start when we were there was just a stone's throw away.

The room we stayed in has a fantastic view of the harbour and hills. Even though it rained so much during our stay, it didn't disappoint us because the hotel itself is very cozy and relaxing. The hotel room is well-maintained, clean and huge. Bed is king-size and very comfy. Bathroom is huge and clean too. We've also enjoyed chilling out at the living room on the 2nd floor where we had the view of the hotel's beautiful garden.

We will definitely come back at this hotel and recommended to anyone traveling in Connemara. The owners are very friendly, hospitable and accommodating, always finding the time to check on us despite their busy time preparing for the hotel's re-opening after the lockdown. We're the witness of how the owners ensure that staying at their hotel is safe as they keep all rooms clean and disinfected every day.

We stayed in Eldons in August 2020 during covid madness and can honestly say we have never felt more welcome safe and clean in this gem of a hotel.
John and Michelle are excellent hosts, they love their business and take excellent personal care of their guests.
John spent time sourcing Lobster for guests post storm while Daniel cooked it to perfection. Chef Daniel is one to watch in rising culinary superstars....amazing 👏

We stayed in 2 other places before Eldon's during our week and a half in beautiful Connemara, and Roundstone and Eldon's were without doubt our favourite places. We arrived early and as I was apologising to Michelle she said no problem, the room was ready and from that moment on I knew we would be well looked after, especially when we asked if there would be a television to watch the Euro's final and they had it set up for us when we came down to a lovely dinner of freshly caught fish and fresh vegetables. We had the dining room to ourselves and it was like a home from home, it was so relaxing. We were upgraded to the balcony room which I would highly recommend for people-watching and just watching life go by and the gorgeous little village opening up in the morning with a coffee in the room after a hearty and tasty breakfast. Michelle, John and Aoife make this quaint, quirky and spotlessly clean and comfortable hotel the most chilled out and relaxing break, that we asked to stay another night and look forward to coming back. By the way, the garden rooms look lovely too with a little patio where you can have your meals on a nice day, the owners are so accommodating and take care of everything, they even have a safe place to store your bicycles!

On our first road trip in the West of Ireland Post lockdown we included a stay in Eldons Hotel , Roundstone. We had often stopped in the village for a coffee( or a drink in O Dowds )and had promised ourselves an overnight stay in Eldons
We were not disappointed. I had asked for a room with a view and I got just that.... a porthole window with roundstone harbour in its splendid location displayed for my quiet enjoyment
I must say that although the room a small one, the bed was massive and the soft white bed linen exceptional.

Dinner was simple but simply excellent.
Grilled fish from the harbour caught that morning and samphire picked by our hosts earlier in the evening
We had a table by the window and enjoyed the nightly parade of locals and visitors alike walking down to the sea wall as the sun set for a chat and a drink.

Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. We will certainly be back to Eldons!

Me and a few friends stayed here over the weekend in this and were left with a great impression. The hospitality that we received was incredible with the staff being generous and informative about any questions we had. The rooms we had were clean and neat. In the evening there was a great atmosphere where you could enjoy a drink and relax looking over main Street. Would highly recommend to any people wanting a affordable trip to a idealic coastal town.

Our family had the most wonderful stay with John and Michele. They were excellent hosts, they couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They also served us the most delicious fresh lobster together with triple cooked chips that was just exquisite. The location is perfect, right in the centre of Roundstone surrounded by great restaurants and bars. There is also a really beautiful view of the harbour and the twelve pins from the front room. We can't recommend the hotel enough and we hope to return again next year.

We recently stayed for three evenings at Eldons in Roundstone. A great stay and a wonderful experience exploring the area. Excellent beach at Dogs Bay just a couple of miles away. Kylemore Abbey can be reached in an hour and the Sky Road is a wonderful drive. Killary Harbour is also worth a visit. Great atmosphere in the village in the evenings and the Shamrock Bar across the road was very welcoming and adhering to the Covid protocols.
Michelle in Eldons is a warm host and always available for info and insights in the area. She and her family have recently taken over the small hotel and are introducing lots of nice touches. Breakfast is appetising and evening meals are available and the small cosy bar is available for guests at this time. We hope to return!

Michelle and John were extremely friendly from the moment we entered their property. It was quite late (after 21:00) on Sunday (long weekend because of the bank holiday on Monday). We couldn't stay at the nearest campsite: it turned out they don't take tents ... We were in need of finding a place pretty quickly (already have over 140km cycled for the last two days). We thought everything is booked out, but we drop by the Eldon's and they had free rooms!
We were over the moon!
The B&B is located at the main street, it's a modest place, but very clean & tidy.
The king size bed was very comfortable (quite hard mattress which was great!).
In the evening we drunk a pint of Guinness and in the morning next day a full Irish breakfast (included in the price) has been served.
The best part: the owners: Michelle and John are just awesome; they are very talkative, extremely friendly and helpful couple.
I only know the next time I visit Roundstone I'm not going to look for anything else.
They're just perfect!

Exceptional. We stayed at Eldons with John & Michelle for two nights recently. The purpose of our trip to this beautiful part of the country was to climb the 12 Bens - which can be seen from the front of the hotel along with the beautiful Roundstone Harbour.
John & Michele are the best hosts we have ever come across. John even went to the rounds of making us lunch for our climb & met us at the door or the hotel that morning at 05.30 to wish us well on our adventure. We were very fortunate with the weather for our hike & the views of the West coast from the peaks along this ridge are incredible. Afterwards, we went for a quick dip in the sea at Dogs Bay.
The natural beauty of this area is hard to trump, but Daniel's cooking managed to top it & was genuinely the highlight of the trip. We had sirloin steaks on the Friday night & lobster on the Saturday night. I had a few pints of Arthur's finest on the Saturday night, which were well deserved after a long day in the mountains & Claire had a couple of glasses of red wine which were also to a very high standard. Attention to detail & looking after their guests is very high on the agenda for both John & Michelle. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are extremely comfortable & the breakfast we had on the Sunday morning was excellent.
We will be back & thanks again John & Michelle!

I stayed in the Eldon Hotel at the end of August 2020 with my two children (3 and 1 years old) and my parents. The hotel has so much charm and the view from my bedroom window looked out over beautiful Roundstone Harbour. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had everything we needed in the room. John and Michelle were extremely accommodating and very easy company. Their son is an aspiring chef and he cooked us a really tasty meal. The bar also has a great selection of gins and beers! Roundstone and the surrounding areas are extremely beautiful. Dog's Bay and Gurteen beach are only a couple of minutes away by car and the scenery is spectacular. There's also a playground nearby to keep the kids happy! We had a really memorable and wonderful stay and I will definitely be back next year!

I am afraid it is not wheel chair friendly as all bedrooms are on floors 2 and 3 and there is not a lift .
