Detailed Reviews
Great location on the barren hills of Connemara, not easy to miss as it's one of the few structures around in the area, slightly resting uphill so you can easily see it from the road. Standing on sheep farm ground, it gives a very typical appearance.
Despite being on farm ground, the building is huge and beautiful, with ample parking lot in front and the option to rent a tent for overnight stays.
The structure itself is huge and well-kept, extremely clean. Ground floor houses a huge kitchen and dining area, and a living room with a working fireplace. The kitchen has all you need for cooking. Note that during mornings they provide homemade flapjacks (10/10, must try) and fruit, tea and coffee for free.
The personnel is young and nice, offering a warm welcome and easy-going attitude.
On the upper floor are the rooms, showers, and shared bathrooms. There's no possibility of en-suite bathrooms, but this isn't a problem. Everything is kept spick and span clean, the showers have warm water, and I didn't encounter any issues with other guests in terms of crowdedness (maybe not many people around during my visit). I opted for a twin bed in a separate room (so no dormitory).
Cozy room, super comfortable bed, with a window at the back showing the hills where the sheep were grazing. Only drawback perhaps was the heater not working in top condition, so the room was a bit cold. This was compensated by the thick blankets provided, so definitely not a problem, just a comment.
Overall great experience and will be back again.

The most paintingful place in Ireland near the Connemara National Park, lake and forest outlook at one side, mountains foggy in the morning - at another, rams there and at the fields and farms around. The only problem may me the outdoor mosquitos at the terrace in the evening. You can have a B&B starting at 19.80 for a cozy dorm room bed with heating or put your own tent outside for the same price, with an access to water and power services. In a quiet living room with leather covered sofas and fireplace, you can play or listen to a guitar and piano, and taste some red wine for free, same way as tea and coffee and food left by the previous guests.
The only puty is, the place closes on December 1 for the winter season, as far as I understand (but have to justify it).

A group of us stayed in Ben Lettery hostel for a hill walking weekend. We had a great time, and enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The facilities were excellent. Great location at the foothills of the Twelve Bens.

Great hostel in a stunning location. Perfect base for walking in the Connemara area and visiting the islands, Inisbofin and Omey. Kitchen is well equipped for groups. Woodburning stove for cosy evenings. Feargal and his team are happy to give local tourist advice.

Decent hostel with good kitchen facilities. However, the toilets and showers are mixed which was not indicated anywhere online. The pillows were quite thin and only one was given. The sitting room is quite nice and warm. Rules are quite strict with little or no leniency. Showers are often cold. Taps in the bathroom are either scalding hot or freezing cold. Overall an alright experience.

The hostel is situated in a lovely setting and recently had an upgrade in that there are new kitchen appliances and counters. We decided to go back to stay there after a break of a few years,
However, the hostel is damp and smells mouldy. During our second night's stay, there were two fire alarms in the middle of the night (4 AM and again at 5:15AM). The staff was slow to get up and did not communicate well with the guests.
There is no drying room.
