Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped off at the peacock's Hotel on the way to Cong for a coffee and to have a look at the area around the crossroads. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the hotel looks lovely with a nice bar area and an open fire to warm up. The gift shop is very good and lots of hand crafted products to choose from.

I just wanted to share about our group stay in the Peacocks Hotel Maam Cross, the staff were very friendly and helpful and Peter at front desk was very welcoming and friendly and helpful and made us all feel very welcome, the rooms were 100% very clean, warm and comfortable, we could not have asked for better, good selection for breakfast and great service. We will definitely be going back, we all enjoyed our weekend stay, well worth a visit. So thank you to Peter and all the wonderful staff at the Peacocks Hotel for making our stay so enjoyable from Louth group.

I went with 2 of my friends to do the Killary Fjord swim and stayed in the hotel on Friday night. We had dinner in the hotel and breakfast. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and professional. They went even beyond our requirements. The hotel was very clean and the rooms too. We had a triple room with 3 single beds. Perfect! The dinner was very good, and the breakfast too. The trailer with food we went to after the swim was very too and food was delicious. Music too ;o) I cannot fault this hotel at all. Quite the opposite and for a fantastic rate. We will be back. The area is worth exploring too.

We arrived on Friday evening, had a lovely meal on Friday Night and a few drinks in the Bar. It's a lovely hotel, very clean and well kept. The Staff were very friendly. We went to Cong and Leenane on Saturday. It's a lovely place to stay and we will be back again. We have often stopped and had food there on our way to other parts of the country, but this was our first time staying there. Eileen & Dan

To be honest, it could do with an upgrade, it's dated and tired looking. BUT saying that, it was clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was clean but in need of renovating. The food was good and the views of lakes and mountains gave a calm relaxing feel to the area. I would recommend that people bringing pets are told which door they can use should their pet need to go outside during the night to toilet, as there is no night porter. It is a great base for doing the connemara loop and seeing all that is on offer in the area. Would I stay again? Yes.

One comment calls it "The Most Underestimated Hotel in Connemara". Actually, this sums it up wonderfully. The hotel is located on a major cross road as the dominant building in the area. This may seem a bit desolate, but actually it is a great place from which to explore the region, by car, foot, bike or even bus. It is beside a cattle market and on Saturdays there is a quaint farmers market at the road. A local initiative has made it possible to start restoring an old, long deserted railway station. A small section of tracks is being laid which will in time host a tourist train. The track itself, once connecting Clifden with Galway, will be converted into a cycling and walking route. We had a great time. Buffet was sumptuous, we had a meal there which was very nice and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel welcomes dogs, so we took our border collie along for his holiday. The hotel has gone though a tough time but the current owners have made great progress turning it into a friendly place with a warm welcome for the visitors.

Excellent breakfast, lovely staff, very affordable and such a lovely hotel. Would highly recommend as a place to stay while exploring Connemara. Also very dog friendly which can be a hard thing to find. Rooms were spotless, food was lovely as we had both breakfast and dinner in it.

We enjoyed 2 visits here during our stay cation journey the place was clean and had a nice relaxed atmosphere, we enjoyed a meal and drinks on both evenings... Thanks to Peter on reception and Paul behind the bar both so friendly and nothing was a problem and they both made the effort to engage in conversation with the kids and Peter made sure we got up the tower on our second visit as we have a big paw patrol fan
