we stayed in Peacocks on B&B basis for 3 nights where the room was spacious with sparkling ensuite and great value for money.
We dined every night in the hotel. The food was first class. Couldn't praise Brid and her family and staff enough.

We stopped in for food last week, we just stumbled across it on the way back from a day of sightseeing and would definitely call again when back in Galway, we really enjoyed it. We both had steak sandwiches and can't fault them. They were really tasty and large portions, loads of meat in them, we were too stuffed for desserts. The staff were very friendly and helpful, seated us straight away and took order soon after, the food came out quickly enough and the waiter came back to check on us, everything was lovely. Just to add, they seemed to be following the Covid guidelines too, there was a one way system in through the front door to the restaurant and out another door at the back of the restaurant/bar, the tables are well spaced and the staff we encountered all had masks which was reassuring.

The location of the Peacocke Hotel is actually 100% perfect and one of the most beautiful locations for an affordable hotel we have seen in Connemara. The Peacocke hotel is the perfect launchpad for exploring the stunning region. The hotel is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Twelve Bens, the drive on the N59 back to our hotel was stunningly beautiful, it truly felt like we were sleeping directly in the heart of Connemara, and within that heart we had absolutely everything we could ask for in a hotel. What stood out most was the staff and how friendly and helpful everyone was. We had a wonderful full Irish breakfast every morning in the beautiful, spacious outdoor dining area, we enjoyed the gift shop and also the daily food truck outside. Everyone who works there, you kinda get to know them and they make you feel seen and taken care of, they are all real people, nice people. The rooms have everything that you need and a lot of space. I wasn’t expecting a table and chairs, and a bathtub for the very affordable price of the room. I wish there were more hotels like this in Ireland because they have everything you could ever need while at the same time keeping a price point that makes exploration of this beautiful country possible for travelers to afford and plan for.

We had a lovely time at your hotel. Although our first night was made unbearable by loud neighbours partying until midnight, we were very satisfied with the response of hotel staff that immediately offered us a different room the next morning. All staff were friendly and hardworking, I hope the management appreciates that. The hotel site has one of a kind, beutiful location, close to Clifden and Leenaun which offer plenty of leisure activities. Delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. My family was really happy and next time we will bring our little doggie with us. Thanks guys!

I wasn’t sure what expect as the hotel is very isolated and 1st impression from the outside wasn’t great, but the receptionist was very welcoming and the room all be it basic was comfortable and spacious.
The food was brilliant value at €30 for a beautiful steak, desert, coffee and a pint, served with a smile and efficiently. This alone would bring me back again.
The breakfast was excellent and the waitress was super friendly and chatty, when I asked for a take away cup for my left over coffee for my car journey, she was so nice and gave me a fresh one.
I stay in plenty on hotels midweek due to work and it’s always the friendly ones I drive out of my way to stay again.
Excellent value for money👍

I stopped off at Peacokes today on the advice of my friend, we popped in to have a coffee and ended up having a cream tea but we’re tempted with the menu. If we had more time we would have had a meal as such a good selection for lunch.
The staff were so friendly and helpful as it was outside dining only still and limited seating, they found us the perfect table in the shade for which to have out cream tea. The atmosphere was lovely and everyone so friendly and attentive which is so rare at the moment. After our delicious cream tea we asked to use their facilities before going on our way snd the receptionist was very helpful and was able to give us information about the hotel and if we wanted to book when fully opened we should call and they would tell us the current status with Covid . I look forward to being able to go and stay on my next visit to Connemara.

Based on the reviews here we spent 2 nights in this hotel between Christmas and New Year . My wife, daughter and i along with our collie dog. There are 2 rooms No 124 and 125 designated for disabled guests and for guests with pets. Both of these rooms are on the ground floor and both of these rooms are accessed via a room just off the main hallway near the back entrance.Initially we were allocated room no 124 but on entering we were greeted with a damp musty aroma and the room was dark and not in the least bit welcoming. The bathroom was old and grubby and in urgent need of repair/ungrading. We were very unhappy with this and were offered room no 125 which was slightly better but still pretty grubby. The sealant around the bath was black and mouldy in parts, the tiles on the floor weren`t flush with the bath. The tiles were stained. The matresses offered little or no support. The staff were friendly but the hotel was understaffed as waiting times for food in the evenings were excessive and in the mornings some tables were brought their food whilst others had to get it themselves. On the positive the food when it arrived was tasty and the breakfast was good also. The area around Maam Cross is rugged and ideal for walkers and hikers. I will come back to the area but not to this hotel as it was a very disappointing experience.

Hi CorkDenis Thank you for your review and sincere apologies that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We are shortly starting our renovations on rooms 124/125 to try an combat the issues that are mentioned in your review. Our pet friendly rooms are very popular and as a result can be hard to maintain but we are putting new operations in place. Kind regards! Burke Family and staff

To be honest, it could do with an upgrade, it's dated and tired looking. BUT saying that, it was clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious
and the bathroom was clean but in need of renovating. The food was good and the views of lakes and mountains gave a calm relaxing feel to the area. I would recommend that people bringing pets are told which door they can use should their pet need to go outside during the night to toilet, as there is no night porter. It is a great base for doing the connemara loop and seeing all that is on offer in the area. Would I stay again? Yes.

Myself and my wife spent two nights in Peacocke's hotel in August. It wasn't our first time staying there; in fact it was our third stay. It didn't disappoint. We were a little nervous because of all this Covid-19 stuff, but we needn't have worried. The hotel had systems and procedures in place to ensure compliance with regulations and to make people feel at ease while maintaining the excellent service and quality they are known for.

The only (slight) issue was the lack of tea & coffee making facilities in the room which meant a trek to the bar or restaurant if we wanted a late cuppa.

On this occasion, a second 'issue' is the road works going on outside the door with a stop/go system in place 24/7 and work commencing at 7.30 each morning. As our room was to the front of the hotel, let's just say we didn't need an alarm call!! (but it was fun sitting on the balcony watching to see who would either crash the red lights or jump the gun and go before the green!!

Food quality was excellent and prices were similar to those we paid previously.

The only other disappointment (possibly a casualty of the Covid Pandemic) was the fact that the gift shop and tower were not open during our stay.

We thoroughly recommend them as a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

Summer Sunday... After a long drive thru breathtaking landscape we decided to stop there for late lunch/snack.... Chowder was absolutely tasteless. Over cooked vegetables, little fish and generally unbeatable dish. I can say exactly the same about bread. Such a great location, but unfortunately very unpleasant experience.

Hi, hotel is pet friendly but due to food regulations we can't have animals in areas where food is served. We will accommodate you as best possible. Have you mentioned to hotel that you will have a dog as they can sleep you down stairs if possible?

It is fine to wash and shower in. It just not drinkable. The hotel provide large bottles of water in the room to drink. You will enjoy the hotel and views. The staff are extremely helpful.
