Murrays' Doonmore Hotel, the most westerly island hotel in Ireland, was built in 1969 and has been owned and managed by the Murray family ever since. We pride ourselves on our hands on approach to customer service so you will be dealing with a member of the family at most stages of your stay. We care about what we do because it is not just a job, it is our life. Our friendly staff are superbly trained and they know that our raison d'etre is to ensure that every customer, from a child ordering a hot chocolate to a group of adults staying for a week, deserves only the best service possible. Our hotel and bar food is famous for its freshly caught seafood and its consistently high quality and value for money. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and warm. The atmosphere is welcoming, homely and relaxed. It is no accident that we have a large percentage of repeat business stretching back to the early days. The proof of the pudding is in the eating (and we bake all our own!) So come out and visit and experience Murrays' Doonmore Hotel for yourselves. Andrew Murray

Murray's Doonmore Hotel, Bar & Restaurant emerges as a beloved destination where guests frequently commend the array of amenities, including the comfort of their rooms, the high-quality dining experience, and the pet-friendly atmosphere. Nestled in a prime location, it affords stunning views and easy access to walking trails, all while guests are enveloped in a lively and welcoming atmosphere, often punctuated by live bar music. The service is generally lauded for being attentive and professional, although a handful of visitors have noted occasional lapses. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with both the rooms and common areas maintained impeccably. While most find the hotel to be of good value, some guests' expectations are not fully met in terms of room availability. Overall, the hotel's charm and the comfort of the well-appointed rooms, many with scenic sea views, contribute to its reputation as a desirable getaway.

Everything about Doonmore was a joy. Very special, hardworking, fun staff, Really Covid regulations compliant.
Food was delicious. Room was lovely. View so peaceful.
Island really well set out for walks, relaxation and enjoyment. Swimming at a glorious beach is not to be missed.
There is a sense of an island working together to provide high standard options for their visitors.
Even the ferry workers were so respectful of the luggage, I've never seen that before!!

Dear marionm40, Thank you for your brilliant review. Our staff have worked very hard this season. It is fantastic that our customers recognise that and understand how difficult it is to do what we do, remaining relaxed, efficient and friendly, while implementing covid regulations to the letter of the law. There are many secret delights on this beautiful island, that take years to unearth, leaving something to return for year after year, apart from the delicious food, immaculately clean rooms and great service from our crew. I look forward to your return in 2022, don't forget to book soon! Regards, Andrew

I booked this staycation in March 2019 as availability during the Summer is hard to get. Had never been to Inisbofin before and my expectations were exceeded. Weather was fabulous, hotel was clean, food was excellent, staff were friendly and fully compliant with COVID 19. We were a party of 4 adults and felt so comfortable in the hotel with all social distancing adhered to not only in the hotel but all over the island. I would highly recommend this hotel and the island for a break.

Dear nearlythere04, Thank you so much for your great review. I am especially glad to see that our first time guests, and there were quite a few this year, enjoyed the experience in spite of the lack of a bar and the music sessions that we are famous for. Our guests' comfort is top priority so I'm delighted that you felt able to relax properly and felt safe all the time. I look forward to your second visit, as I am fairly sure there will be one! Regards, Andrew

This trip to Inishbofin was at a different time to my usual visit but due to Covid restrictions earlier in the year all plans were changed. I was delighted to get a chance to come out to the island.
It certainly didn't alter the welcome I received when I got there. It was as warm as ever. It's so nice to return to a place and get such a lovely welcome.
Covid has changed the way things are done and it was no different at the Doonmore Hotel . A lot of careful planning had been put into this and all of it was done so efficiently and so nicely that it did not feel like an imposition or a difficulty . Of course things and procedures had to change but it was no hardship to adapt to these changes.
The hotel was as comfortable and as friendly as it always has been. The bedrooms are cosy and the beds are so comfortable that getting to sleep was never a problem!
Dining at the hotel was a pleasure, The food was very good, with great variation and was very well presented. This was the kind of food you would like to see when you have been out in the fresh air all day!
Despite the restrictions, the hotel never lost its friendliness. While there was no live music due to the restrictions, other diversions came our way. The raconteurs were out in force and the stories in the evening were amazing and at times hilarious. Another aspect of Irish culture still lives! Because of the quietness, many people took to the books and it led to a stimulating series of ad hoc reviews and discussions after dinner. it made for an a friendly and interesting atmosphere.
A great deal of the atmosphere was down to the hard work of the Doonmore team. A lot of thought was put into the management of the hotel in these difficult times and it worked very well. Staff were friendly, efficient and attentive and there was a great 'can do' attitude around the place. to make a place warm and welcoming in these restrictive times is no mean feat but they did it very well.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and I cannot wait to get back there again.

Dear Barbara S, Thank you so much for your fantastic review. You are 100% correct of course, it did take a lot of thought and a lot of effort to make it seem like it didn't take a lot of thought and a lot of effort! We were so happy that everyone who came to stay or dine with us felt safe and comfortable and enjoyed the same level of service and hospitality as 'normal'. That was very high on our agenda, as was the intent to mitigate the effect of the restrictions on your overall experience. Yes, we missed the music and the buzz that a typical evening in Murray's brings, but people are unbelievable adaptive. The story telling, the art of conversation, the rekindling and the creation of friendships that is always a part of the Doonmore experience moved to centre stage and did a fine job! It was so lovely to see you this season, albeit at a different stage of the season. I know how much it means to you, as it does to so so many, to get a little bit of Bofin time every year. I look forward to your 2021 visit, stay safe and well in the meantime. Regards, Andrew

Great time spent at Doonmore Hotel. The location of this hotel is amazing- within 20mins walk ofa beautiful sandy beach where we swam before breakfast each morning. The service at this hotel is outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble- provided us with butter and jam for the scones we got from an honesty box so we could picnic on Inis Shark. Any variation from the breakfast menu can be ordered and service was friendly with plenty of chat and fun. Our room at the back of the hotel was newly renovated , tastefully decorated and very quiet. Thank you Andrew and Megan for a great few days.

My husband and I stayed at this elegant family run hote with our nephewl last week. From the minute we stepped off the ferry to the island we felt the warmest welcome from Andrew, the manager at the hotel. This was continued on meeting Aileen at reception. Her amazing greenfingers are evident everywhere in the stunning floral displays throughout the hotel. The beautiful sunny Donna lights up the restaurant. She truly could not have done more to make our stay perfect. The rooms were spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, cool and restful. Covid regulations and sanitation are strictly adhered to but not in a sterile, intrusive way. All the staff work hard to achieve a wonderful ambience within the hotel.
We swam in crystal clear waters, walked stunning landscapes and were only sorry we did not have longer to stay. We cannot wait to go back to this island idyll.

Dear Denis and Mary, Thank you for your lovely positive and poetic review. I could tell that you got bitten by the 'Bofin Bug' within 24 hours of arriving here. Once it gets in to your soul you are hooked for life! It was a pleasure for us to have you both staying with us also. We needed all the positivity we could get this year to drive us on; all the staff worked particularly hard in difficult circumstances, so a sincere thank you for that. I look forward to seeing you both back for your second visit in 2021. Say hello to the Castlecomer relations for me if you ever come across them! Regards, Andrew

When stepping off the ferry onto Inisbofin we always receive a great welcome from the Hotel Staff. Doonmore serve gorgeous food always with beautiful views when in the bar or Dining Room. The atmosphere in the Bar is fantastic with amazing music sessions day and night for everyone to enjoy and appreciate the musician's playing. Guests are welcome to join in. Bedrooms are always fresh, clean and bright and hot showers always. Great switch off.

Thank you for your wonderful review. We work hard to ensure no stone is left unturned to make our guests' stay as good as it can be. We place a high priority on friendly efficient service from well trained staff, excellent food and spotlessly clean, cosy rooms. Apart from those elements, that we consider the basics, the warm welcoming atmosphere and attention to detail, the stunning scenery and the great craic all add up to a proper experience of all that is great about an Irish holiday. I am delighted you enjoyed it all and hope you get back for more of the same soon. Regards, Andrew

My husband Fergus and myself spent three wonderful days on Inishbofin and stayed at this beautiful Doonmore Hotel. The hospitality is next to none, the food is the best, the views from this Hotel are the best you could ever experience. I have stayed here on many occasions and keep coming back which speaks volumes for this Hotel. Andrew and Donna together with all the staff there are exceptional. When you arrive off the ferry, your bags are brought to the Hotel by Andrew or some of their staff, the Hotel is within walking distance of the ferry - approx a 10 minute walk, but if you are not up to the walk on arrival, they will transport you to the Hotel. It is an experience not to be missed. They complied with all the necessary measurements and HSE protocols re: Covid 19 and you would feel very safe staying in this beautiful Hotel. Peig & Fergus.

Dear Peig & Fergus, Thank you for your wonderful review. It is always a pleasure to have you stay with us. I am very happy to rad your comments about the protocols as we have made a special effort to go above and beyond on this front to ensure everyone's safety and comfort. It is s difficult time but so far everyone has managed to enjoy their time with us despite the lack of the usual nightlife and music. The views, fresh air, great food and service seem to be more than enough and everyone is delighted to be here. Looking forward to seeing you in 2021. Regards, Andrew

Murrays Doonmore Hotel offers the best of hospitality and cuisine, and impromptu evening music sessions (non Covid19). The staff are extremely helpful, professional and eager to ensure visits are memorable.

There's something magical about Inisbofin that is only experienced by a visit.
It is a tranquil island of outstanding natural beauty comprising grasslands, sandy beaches, high cliffs and an abundance of flora. It is also home to the elusive corncrake that can be heard but rarely seen.
The food is also excellent throughout the various eateries - and visit would not be complete with a culinary visit to Iniswallah London Bus!
Weather is rarely an issue given its low elevation; even on the worst of days, storms pass over quickly, only to linger on the mainland for days.

Dear I6263LKgillianm, Thank you for your excellent review. Unfortunately, our music sessions have been absent for 2 seasons now, apart from a couple of impromptu outdoor tunes by guests, which were lovely. You are correct, we get much better weather, much less rain, on the island than even the mainland opposite us, due precisely to the lack of height of our hills, as you rightly point out. Regards, Andrew

There is a large open field and a beach directly in front of the hotel, and a choice of walks on quiet roads /paths on both sides of hotel, which should keep the children entertained. Enjoy!
