It is rare that all the staff in a hotel are genuinely courteous, kind and helpful. Cashel House is one such hotel. The staff in the dining room, at the bar and behind the front desk are outstanding. I am tempted to give 5 stars just for the staff! Unfortunately, a number of issues in the room (outlined below) take away that extra star.

Dining in Cashel House is a lovely experience. The food in the restaurant is delicious and well presented. There is a wide selection on the menu, which includes a lot of high quality local produce.

The hotel is in an idyllic setting in which you can easily relax. The views, particularly from the De Gaulle seat, are wonderful. There are also plenty of paths which allow you to walk around the well maintained grounds.

The large bedrooms are comfortable and there is ample space for parking outside. The hotel also has a number of fabulous rooms in which you can sit, relax, chat or play board games/cards. Finally, a significant positive is that the hotel is very accepting of dogs.

Issues:
Firstly, the door to our room was a pain. We had to insert the key, fiddle it around, take it out and insert it again a number of times before we could lock/unlock it. This became frustrating after the first night. Additionally, the wardrobes make a loud smashing noise when closed no matter how gently you try to close them.

The bathroom was the big let down. The toilet would not flush properly and the light was faulty. In addition, the shower head was old and partly broken, causing water to spray out of its side. There was also mould on the shower rail and ceiling which should not be present in such a top class hotel. The shower itself was refreshing and powerful. However, there was no cold water even at the lowest setting. This is unfortunate on a hot day or when you want to wake yourself up! Finally, the number and type of towels our room received was inconsistent. We would normally only receive one big towel. One person was happy, of course, but the other had to make do with a towel that was meant for the floor! These are all minor faults but they add up. I would have no hesitation in changing this review to 5-stars if the problems - mainly in the bathrooms - were to be rectified. It is a shame that the excellent staff and top class dining experience are let down by a few issues in the rooms which could be fixed.

In any case though, Cashel House is a fantastic hotel that is well worth a visit. I look forward to returning at some point!

We enjoyed a wonderful two night stay at this beautiful B&B and honestly hated to leave. The grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed walking around, finding all the hidden gardens and overlooks. We booked a Courtyard View standard room but upon arrival they upgraded us to a Garden View suite. The room was recently renovated with a plush carpet, soft bedding, and fresh paint. The bed was firm and very comfortable, the bathroom clean and well appointed. I loved applying my makeup while sitting at the antique vanity in front of the window, wearing the plush complimentary robe and enjoying the fresh air. All of the staff was extremely welcoming and kind. We enjoyed two breakfasts (included) and dinners (55 Euro) during our stay. The food was delicious, especially the fresh oysters. I felt transported to another era, and can't wait to go back. One item of note for fellow travelers - there is not elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up 1-2 flights of stairs (though I'm sure the staff would happily assist if needed) or request a ground room floor if stairs are an issue for you.

We had a small family and friends wedding weekend at Cashel house this September and could not have been happier with the event. The hotel and property is so picturesque and charming. We all enjoyed the garden paths and views of the bay, and the kids loved running around the grounds and discovering secret gardens. It was the perfect place for a small wedding: all of our guests stayed at the hotel and some of the best parts of the weekend were rehashing evening events over delicious hot breakfasts each morning in the dining room and sharing a pint in the afternoon at the garden tables. The onsite bar and restaurant served delicious food and drink all weekend, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff genuinely made us all feel so welcome. It is a wonderful place for kids and families and our only regret was that we couldn't bring our dogs in from the States to join us (they're dog friendly too!). Special shoutout to Tanya, the onsite wedding coordinator, who helped us plan everything from abroad, and the entire staff who welcomed us so warmly and truly made the weekend! We hope to make it a tradition to come back to Cashel and many of our guests have said the same.

We were disappointed with both the room and the dinner.
The room in an old country house was furnished with cheap MDF-type furniture. We selected a ground floor garden suite room, assuming it would have garden access, but it doesn’t.
The gardens are a big attraction - but they’re not well maintained.
The dinner was also disappointing. The cod dish didn’t taste fresh, and was very expensive for what we got. However, the ladies serving us were very pleasant and efficient., and the conservatory in which it was served was lovely and full of light. These were the only positives for me.

Overall: disappointing and overpriced

Room Tip: Avoid the garden suites. Maybe the “Superior “ rooms in the main house are nicer.

Having had an enjoyable experience at CHH 30 years ago on our honeymoon, my wife and I had high expectations on returning to CHH. Sadly these expectations were not met.
CHH still has an enchanting appeal and setting. Restaurant staff have a very positive, attentive attitude.
Sadly CHH has lost its way. Shabby chic objects were more a collection of faded objects and art prints. Considering the price, the quality and presentation of food was very disappointing. The menu was not worthy of much praise. Overall cooking was mediocre. Vegetables were poorly cooked. A lot the items on the menu were third party sourced, casted as specialties. All good was served on china and with cutlery that had seen better days.
Our room, had not been updated. Coffee was instant. No Nespresso machine. Biscuits were cheap. Again disappointing given the price we paid.
Despite the hotel knowing we returning after 30 years, no attempt was made to make us feel valued.
Considering guests( local and international) travel many miles to get CHH - they need to up their game to make it a destination hotel.
Invest in a new chef/menu. Invest in revamping decor. Evening talks - exploring their impressive gardens, their artefacts, & Irish culture.
Until such actions are taken, with regret, I question if I would return - there are other better value and exciting hotels available in the area.

We got married at Cashel House Hotel at the end of May in 2022 and we couldn't have picked a better venue. We spent the weekend at the hotel with all of our family and friends and were so lucky to get incredible weather. My wife is from Galway (we now live in NYC), so we know what the weather can be like on the West of Ireland!! The great weather made Connemara and the Cashel House grounds that much more beautiful. All the flowers were in bloom, it felt like a fairytale at times! Our guests loved the drive to Cashel and couldn't stop taking pictures of the venue and grounds. It was incredibly scenic. Throughout the wedding day and weekend, the staff were amazing and did a great job making us feel relaxed and comfortable. The food for our wedding reception was amazing, along with the breakfasts and the BBQ that we had on our second day. All our guests loved everything. Our wedding was about 115 people, and we think that Cashel was a perfect venue for that size. The location is great as well and our guests explored many of the surrounding sights/locations, including Roundstone, Dog's Bay Beach, Kylemore Abbey, etc.

Leading up to our wedding, Tanya and all of the staff at Cashel were very responsive to our questions and needs, which was very helpful considering we were planning from abroad. Tanya really made the planning of the wedding much easier than we imagined! She was so present on the day of the wedding and consistently checked in with us both to make sure everything was running smoothly. All in all, whether it's for a wedding or a quick getaway, we'd highly recommend Cashel and we can't wait to back!

Thank you again Tanya and everyone at Cashel for making it the most amazing weekend and one that our families and friends will never forget!

Cashel House Hotel needs to be completely overhauled in terms of decor, food and service. Old world and old charm is great but not when the place is tired, drab and dated. Bedrooms need upgrading, new fabrics, curtains and painting. Food is the restaurant was not great. It is the first time I have not eaten vegetables, excessively creamed and too much butter. The breakfast was shocking poor, particularly the sausages. The lemon muffin, macaroons were appreciated. Other positives included open fires, grounds and the location.

We stayed here with two other couples for two nights during a driving holiday around SW Ireland. We all agree that it was the best place.
The location was ideal, the grounds are delightful, the food was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The head barman was a real character.
We had dinner at Cashel House on one night as part of our package - it was superb. On the second night, we ate at a nearby restaurant that claims to be award winning - we wished that we had dined at Cashel House instead.
The hotel does struggle with low water pressure in the showers but, overall, we would thoroughly recommend it and would definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

The beautiful country house is located in a large, beautifully maintained garden. Sitting outside is possible. If you cross the (quiet) street you are at the lake. Everything in this hotel is "plush" - which you either love or hate - but very well maintained. The best experience is the fairly large restaurant where you get a nice 4-course menu (including oysters and without supplement). Everything tasty and, above all, served by people who you immediately notice that they enjoy working and make you feel welcome. It was my best hotel experience on our tour of Ireland

I stayed here for 1 night . The bedroom no 21 was beautiful and a good size. The bathroom needs more power for the shower. All the staff were wonderful and contributed to the feeling of being welcome without being "In your face". We had the 5 course dinner which was excellent. My wife had the mussels, and I had the oysters to start. The mussells were small and tasty as were the oysters which were fresh and sweet. I had the chowder and my wife had the tomato soup, both delicious. We both had the monkfish for mains which was very good, with a lovely sauce. For dessert we both had the apple and blackberry crumble . This was a meal in beautiful surroundings, with fresh products, and great service at a reasonable price. We had drinks on the lawn overlooking beautiful gardens. The Guiness was perfect, served in Guiness pint glasses .We used Blue Book vouchers and this is the best stay we have had.
