We stayed here just before the lockdown, the hotel is lovely however we were not able to avail a lot of services due to the lockdown restrictions and the bar and restaurant were not open and no room service. 4 star because room was nice and the staff were very friendly.

I stayed 2 weeks ago for a family wedding with my girlfriend and honestly, where to start? Our sheets were old and pilled (ball-y), very uncomfortable. No information in the room (COVID or otherwise) and when we went to turn on the TV, the remote was caked in dirt and dust. Many hotels have taken to storing their remotes in plastic bags as they are generally accepted to be the worst covid vector in a hotel room but these guys didnt even bother wiping it down. This is really emblematic of the entire stay as I really don't feel that a deep clean before reopening had been done at all. My girlfriend cut her leg quite badly on a jagged side of a broken glass table (I have pictures of this which I wont be sharing but happily will show any representative of the hotel who contacts me). When my girlfriend asked for a room service menu she was scoffed at and treated like that was an alien request. Clearly everyone working in this place hates it and having worked in the hospitality industry for years now, I can clearly see that this is to do with management of the hotel and I cant really blame them. A number of people In our party stayed in the hotel that night and not one of us didnt have a laundry list of issues with our rooms, including multiple instances of used underwear and socks being found in their allegedly "covid sanitised" rooms. As I live near by honestly I wouldn't stay here for free and i would happily give anyone looking for somewhere nearby to stay suggestions on better and frankly safer alternatives. My last main issue was the breakfast. We were seated for 35 minutes before even having an order taken. Apparently a member of staff hadnt shown up that day, which is understandably not their fault but I watched them sit and serve multiple people in the next room immediately while 3 tables sat unacknowledged for over half an hour. This was clearly a gambit to conserve tips from smaller parties and I complained at the time, but was summarily ignored. They were out of multiple things on their menu including beans, which left my girlfriend, who is vegetarian, with very little to eat. Also aside from individual packaging of pastries, once again next to nothing had been done to adhere to covid guidelines, with cartons of juice just being opened and left around the rooms for people to help themselves and all the cereals left in a small alcove with no open windows or way for any more than one person to serve themselves while staying socially distanced... Honestly the only saving grace that this place had was the wedding itself. Aside from a leak that sprung from the roof of their "newly renovated " banquet hall and some clearly spoiled vegetables served to us but immediately rectified, the event was beautifully put together and the organiser who's name I have unfortunately forgotten deserves a serious pay rise or a position in a much better hotel. She was patient and warm in every interaction and dealt with every complaint with the utmost professionalism, my only hope is that she never reads this as she has moved on to greener pastures by now. Honestly, if you're looking to attend a wedding here, enjoy but dont stay the night if you can avoid it. How this place has even 3 stars and is still open is a mystery.

Pubic hair in the bath, toilet flush broken. Room is dirty with stains on the carpet. Cranky waiters with no masks at breakfast, offering cereal and tea for 15 euro, as the “is kitchen not open yet” at 0715. Breakfast served from 0700 am, and I asked the manager the evening before if it will be there. No refund for breakfast when I refused cereal and tea. The whole experience is €150 in total!!!

Finnstown Country House Hotel, Newcastle Rd, Finnstown, Lucan, Co. Dublin, Ireland. It is classed as a four star hotel. The hotel staff was helpful and gave us our keys to our room. Sadly it was dark, small and dreary. You couldn't see anything as trees were on top of the window. The only way you could see out the window for a view would be waiting for the leaves to move and squint hoping to see something. We went down to try and see if we could get another room unfortunately the second room had a four poster bed with some decorations that would be hanging over your head. Yet again the room was very dark you would certainly need the lights on as natural light was very poor. The only way to have a view was to push up the frosted window and then see a concrete roof. Not the view we imagined to say the least! The lounge area had far too much chairs and tables all haphazard and not making sense. We left as we felt claustrophobic. What would we rate it well we would have to say we recommend it nor stay there at all. We cannot give it a one star.
