Clayton Hotel Leopardstown garners high marks for its cleanliness, with guests frequently commending the spotless rooms and efficient service. While the hotel's atmosphere is lauded for its comfort and luxury, opinions on value are mixed; the breakfast and cleanliness receive praise, yet parking fees and room service charges have faced criticism. Although service is predominantly celebrated for its friendliness and attentiveness, a few guests have encountered inconsistencies. The rooms are generally admired for their comfort, though some have noted a need for modern touches. Its location is appreciated for business travel and proximity to public transport, though not ideal for city center tourism.

I stayed for a week for work, a solo female traveller and I would use the hotel again for sure.

It’s really close to the M50 so ideal if you’re travelling around. Parking is amble underneath the hotel and charged at €10 per night. Breakfast is good: buffet style with all you can ask for, including a good gluten free selection.

I booked a deluxe double and was given an accessible room, which was fine. The room had toiletries, tea and coffee making and a 42” tv, although the majority of the channels weren’t tuned, so I just watched my iPad instead. The room was cleaned well every day and coffee and tea refilled.

I had asked when booking for a quiet room, but I didn’t get it, I was near the lifts, and woken at 6am each morning by the cleaners loading their trolleys and using the lifts and chatting - it wasn’t a huge issue for me as I needed to be upfor work, but if I’d have been on a leisure trip, it wouldn’t have been ideal. So beware, and make your room choice at check in instead of when booking perhaps! I had a gentleman help me check in at the machine rather than in person, which may have been why my preferences hadn’t been granted?

WiFi was really good and I could work and stream Netflix easily on my iPad.

There was a room service menu but it was €7 tray charge which I thought was steep, so I only ate on site once in the restaurant, where I had burger and chips - it was ok. The evening gluten free selection was really poor I found, so I preferred to drive to Dundrum shopping centre and get something to eat there - it was only a short drive and there was so much choice - and great shopping!

All staff I met were lovely, reception and breakfast made me feel welcome and not at all uncomfortable for travelling alone.

I’d definitely stay at this hotel again, it was good for travelling around the area definitely.

Have stayed here few times before. Check in experience is good and can also check in online, hotel itself is decent. Family rooms decent in size and hotel itself is situated right off M50 and a 2 min walk to Luas which will take you straight into heart of Dublin.
Biggest issue is standards of food and drink seemed have slipped. Certainly in the bar area. Not enough staff, seems chaotic and lack of leadership. Wait to be served on a Saturday eve at around 9pm was about 15 odd mins could’ve even been more…Bar menu was not as good as before. There was a waitress on duty but she never came near us and we weren’t sure of whether she was taking orders or you had order straight from bar. Could number the tables and have an app with menu????
I’m sure we will stay there again but am hoping you take this feedback in spirit it’s meant.
Breakfast is busy…hot food section some of food had been in buffet for while, generally rest was ok but you’re charging premium money for breakfast buffet it should be better.

Very dissapointed with the service in the Clayton hotel leopardstown. He had booked for a deluxe double room but we were given a room with an extremely small double bed. There was no aircon in the room and no bottles of water/ tea/ coffee/ fridge and so on. The room was like a sauna box with the hot weather we are currently experiencing. Because there was no water in the room we had tried to get water from the vending machine which had no water stocked along with the vending machine not working. When I rang down to reception there was no answer and finally got through to reception after 5 minutes of continuously calling. Finally when the woman on reception answered the phone , she was extremely rude when I had asked if was possible to drop up water. She said she would send someone up and hung up on me. After 20 minutes no one had came to drop water to the room so once again I had to try call reception for another 5 minutes before answering. I explained no one had dropped up the water and she told me that they were too busy to try the vending machine. I explained we had tried the vending machine but had been told someone would send up water. She quickly rushed me off the phone and said once again okay someone will come. Someone eventually came to the room 45 minutes after ringing down. I was extremely dissapointed with the rudeness of the woman on reception. I have never had a disappointing experience with any hotel or any other Clayton hotel until now. I will not be staying again. Would recommend to avoid this hotel

I stayed 3 nights for business.

For me, the location was ideal. It was a busy business trip, and I spent a lot of time in my room early morning and evening catching up on work and preparing for the next day.
The room was just OK. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, some very simple improvements could be made.

1. The TV poor selection most channels were not tuned, I had a selection of 3 channels. No smart TV options.
2. The kettle had a sticker to say it passed a safety check. The plug was almost falling apart, but I use it nervously a number of times.
3. The room was cleaned daily however on each occasion, the cups I used for either a tea or a coffee were not cleaned or replaced nor was the the supplies of tea bags or coffee replenished.
4. The hotel promotes its green ambitions including asking guests if they are happy to re-use towels to leave them hanging. I am happy to re use my towel and left it hanging on the rail after each shower. But each day the towel was replaced with a fresh towel. Don't pay lip service to green ideas.

I did not eat in the bar/resteraunt so I cannot comment. But 2 of the nights I went for a night cap.

I felt the bar was nice and the staff were ok, but when the bar is quiet, I should not have had to make such an effort to order a drink. Please try make eye contact instead of avoiding it. The only time staff engaged in conversation was to let me know they are finishing in 15 mins and could I move out to the atrium. No issue with that but I do wish when I was clearly looking to get served, they were as quick to chat to me.

Ideal for a business trip but a few simple thing would make it a lot more pleasant

We went as part of a tour group with Leger holidays. We were very pleased with the room which was spacious and comfortable.
The hotel location is good if you have a car but it is a long way out of Dublin city itself, there are buses including buses direct to the airport, there is also a tram station very nearby which will also take you into the city.
We were only there for two nights but were basically very happy with the hotel.
At mealtimes, being a tour group we were given our own very limited menu. There was only a choice of two items per course, the food was very good however although on the first night it was only warm and was served on a cold plate so was very soon cold. It was better the second night. My wife is gluten free and this meant there was only one item on the whole menu she could have, an alternative fruit dessert was offered, the menu was however clearly marked.
At breakfast there is an excellent choice for all tastes, on the first morning - no problem. The second however was a debacle. Everyone was to be shown a table on arrival and the staff laid down a menu card on it to show it was taken, however many people by-passed the queue and helped themselves, no-one was challenged and these people were taking some of the tables already allocated, also moving chairs around to suit themselves, at no time did staff take any notice of this.
We found all staff there to be very friendly and helpful.
Overall a happy stay at a good hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights and experienced nothing but mediocre service. The first night at dinner they got my partners order wrong. They took, on average, 30 mins to clear the table once we had finished a course. We also had to go and get our own drinks from the bar as they never once checked on us. The second night room service took over an hour and the pizza was stone cold. They brought a second pizza 30 mins later for no reason. The telly was also password protected and when we rang down and asked reception the answer was “I don’t know”.

Paid €240 plus €10 for parking on a Wednesday night.
Paid €28 for 2 starters in restaurant that evening. I was served 10 chicken wings, 4 battered prawns and 2 calamari rings.
Went down for breakfast next morning. Was told my room number wasn’t in her list, showed me to a table and said she was going to go to reception and clear it up. Left me sitting there for 15 mins before I noticed her showing other guests to their seats across the room.
I walked out and went to reception. I was told breakfast was an extra charge on my €240 Wednesday night room.
Asked for the card to exit car park, was info’d that the barrier was broken this week so I needn’t have paid the €10 for it!!
0% customer care and 0% cop on by staff.
I won’t be back on my next business trip.

Stayed here the night before a training session on the Cherrywood Business Park the next day, about a 15 minute drive away (traffic dependent).

Busy hotel arriving at 2000, having previously checked in online I had my key card in seconds once I’d navigated my way up from the basement car park, which is 10€ overnight for residents.

Good food in the bar/restaurant and staff were great and attentive. Lots of beers on offer including Rockshore Lager which is a favourite of mine when visiting the Emerald Island.

Good choice on offer for breakfast. Will be back.
